i see the projections have him down for 34 minutes per game
seems likely he is not going to be a starter
how will that affect his value? 0% Agree (0 votes) |

I did bump him down to 32 mpg, but I don't see this as a real hit to his impact, as he'll be the clear scoring option with the second unit.

How do you guys see the minutes shaking down for Thornton the rest of the year? Is he going to stay stuck at this current 20-25 minutes rollercoaster ? Chances to regain some of his preseason value?

Oy. There's hope for Thornton if Evans' knee problems turn out to be long-term, but I can't find a reason to project anything above 25 mpg when Salmons is playing 30 every night and he's getting leapfrogged by Garcia for starts when Evans does miss time.

Only idiot of the coach can do that, to sit best wing player of the team and playing scrubs like Garcia & Salmons.

I am a huge fan of Thornton and have held him throughout the year. But even I am growing extremely frustrated with the way he is handled in Sacto, and the situation is reminiscent of how Monty Williams kept him in the doghouse when he was still with NOH. Too good to outright drop, but no buyers in a trade-unfriendly 12 team league. While I sitting comfortably near the top of a H2H daily league with a plethora of three point shooters and ample amount of steals, but I am constantly looking to further improve my team and prepare for the playoffs.
So, can someone please enlighten me on what to do with him? What options are there? Even if the Maloof's sell the team in the near future, what are the likelihood the new owners will change a coach before the fantasy season is over?
Any help/suggestions will be highly appreciated!!!

He's still owned in all of my leagues which are very active, even the 10 team league (though I don't think I'd still own him there.) If you are at the top of the standings and there aren't any good long term FA prospects I'd still hold him. It's pretty tough right now as he is getting inconsistent minutes, giving inconsistent production, and has been injured a few times. Personally if someone with a good outlook popped up on the FA I would say a drop would be valid.

With the sale of the team the Kings might not be very active in trades this season. But is there any chance that the coach is fired? I can't stand his rotations. Thorton could definitely be helped by a coaching change.

I am close to dropping Thornton. I needed his 3s, but he is not playing consistent enough minutes.
Nick Young is getting hot as a starter and usually produces with the starting spot and plenty of PT.
Does anyone think I should hold on to Thornton? I don't think he would get picked up right away in my league and if he does I am loaded at SG (Johnson, Mayo, JR, Beal, and Carter)
UP- drop him
Down- keep him

Had to cut bait on this frustration a few days ago, thought I had a steal taking him in the 70 range this year

Kings down 45 to NYK at the end of the 3rd.
Thornton has only played 8:29, and that was all in the first half. I don't get this coach.... will they fire him?
This is why I have dropped Thornton, he can't get the minutes.

Thornton was a -21 in those 8:29(!). Can't disagree with just about any knock on Smart, just pointing out that it's an incredible number.

If they don't fire Smart by the All-Star break, I am going to drop him

Smart removing Aaron Brooks from the rotation technically makes Thornton's path to some playing time a bit clearer. No guarantees here but at least a reason to think about some more leash - see how things shake out through the ASB.
