I'm in an 8-cat roto league. Here's my team:
Brandon Jennings
Jeff Teague
Jeremy Lin
Darren Collison
Ilyasova
Ryan Anderson
Al Jefferson
I also have Brand and Asik. Looking to solidify blocks and rebounds but still need some scoring. Who do I make my final starter between the two? Does Kaman coming back make a difference for Brand?
PS- Also have Nene on bench. Does he immediately take that spot when healthy?
Thanks!

Are you punting FTs? It doesn't look like you are so the answer is Brand easily. Brand is a fantasy stud. You get FG%, Blks, Reb, and steals similar to a round 2-5 player and you can draft him in round 8 or even round 9 and all you do is get below average scoring which is usually a strength for your team since all the higher drafted players score points.

What are your league settings (roster sizes and starting positions)?

Thanks. I'm not punting FTs.
Roster is 3 F, 3 G, 1C, 1 Util, 5 bench. No IR.

asik. dont worry about fts much. asik wont get to the line that often. worry more about pts...if you good in pts, go with asik.

Asik by a mile..

Don't look now, but Asik is actually 8/9 in free throws the last 3 games. I'm not saying he'll be like 80% or something, but mid-60s is looking quite possible, which would be great for his 9-cat value.
Right now Asik's blocks are down and his TOs are way up, which is keeping his per game value pretty low, but I'd expect both to improve as he goes along. Pretty bullish on his long term value still. He's clearly still adjusting but I expect him to settle down and play more within himself as the season goes along.
(all that to say I like Asik over Brand).

Brand's your safe option in terms of a roto line that doesn't hurt you anywhere. But Asik has been more efficient lately, which is obvs helping his scoring. If he can keep that FT% above 60%, those rebounds and blocks are elite, and everything else pretty low impact.

Being a Bulls fan I am quite low on Asik's ability to shoot free throws and I think he is getting lucky. How many 40% free throw shooters increase their FT% by 20%? If you're stacked in FTs you can take the risk but Brand is a roto stud if you can handle the slight dip in points.

I'm a Brand owner and I'm about to cut him.
His minutes have been highly questionable without Dirk around.
Kaman, Wright, TMurph..... it's looking crowded.
Asik is at least the clear starter, which in my mind is a clearer path to fantasy glory.

Yeah, its become pretty clear to me over the course of play. I was more confused when it looked like Brand was going to be near a double double every game and Asik was dropping 0 points and 19 rebounds. After drafting Brand and Ersan and dealing with that, Asik and an early Aminu pickup have been the only thing that saved me from a terrible start to the season.
