The shots will start falling eventually, but what the hell happened to Ersanity's rebounding? I bought up heavilly this year too, so success hinges on him getting it together and this isn't a comfortable ride at the moment.
On a related note- how much longer can Skiles keep this job? Bucks seem to underpreform relative to expectations every year, and he's the type of coach that players tune out after a couple of years anyway. D'Antoni with this roster = fun-squared.

Skiles on Ilyasova last night:
"He's got a lot of movement going on right now. Sometimes the best thing to do is leave him alone and let him work himself out. It gets in his head a little bit. But he's shooting the ball, his feet are moving, he's drifting all over the place, just not real solid right now. He's just got to make sure it doesn't affect other parts of his game and hope they start going in for him."
link I hope leaving him alone means that Skiles will actually get enough minutes to work himself out. I'm with patentboy in that "the right price" seems like a good idea, I'd offer a player like Crawford to see what happens.

He helped me win a league last year.
I drafted him the 4th round this year. Mostly for his rebounding prowess (we count ORBS in our league) .
Not giving up. Also because big man stats are where my team is weak and the best options for that on our league wire are players like Reggie Evans.
So I closely watched the cetltics/bucks game last night and had a bunch of observations
-
He doesnt look like he has any lift. Im not sure if he ever did, but finishing near the rim was hard for him last night.
-
He seemed a step slow to the ball. Im wondering if he's in shape. Or if the bucks had him add bulk to be more of a PF than a SF. If so, maybe that wasn't so smart
-
As long as he plays, he'll got shots in that offense. He's the main pick and pop guy for Jennings and Ellis. Not sure the bucks have anyone else on the roster who can play that role well.
-
Looked good when paired with Sanders. There's one too many big guy in that rotation. If they get Udoh or Dalembert out of it, it might have a positive result.
-
Even at the free throw line, he looks unconfident. Perhaps he's looking over his shoulder and wondering if Skiles is about to yank him. If so, Skiles giving him normal minutes in a normal rotation would be one of the best things for him
-
As they game went on, he started scrapping more and hustling more. Especially in the 4th qtr. Good that he didn't check out after starting off totally lost out there.

Ersan Ilyasova continues his battle with his own confidence link
I don't think tonight's 18-minute, 1-of-5 shooting performance is going to help. You have to continue to hold here, given what we know he can do with that confidence (and minutes), and it seems like an eternity even though we're only six games into his season, but I don't envy those of you forced into the position. Feel free to use this thread to vent.

Trying to buy low in every league I can. Hopefully, my gambles cash out. '11-'12 season pre-all star: 25 MPG 10/9/1 on 43% shooting post all-star: 30MPG 16/9/1.5 on 55% shooting. Hopefully it doesn't take till ASB to get 30 MPG or approach his post ASB #'s. FG% will be closer to 50% but last year's post ASB numbers are enough for me to keep my faith in him.

I'd be careful with all the buying low. When we talk about post-all star 2011 we're only talking about 28 games, and all of last season he only scored more than 20 points 8 times. If you want a guy who will rebound and hit threes aim for Byron Mullens instead, he's bound to have a better year than this chump.

I think I've figured out the Ersan issue. According to his owners (myself included) it sounds like he is literally on every team in every fantasy basketball league out there...which is a mathematical impossibility. Perhaps the only way for the universe to correct this glitch is for the numbers to be skewed so poorly that he appears to be tanking. In actuality, Ersan is posting 15.7, 9, 2, with 1/1/1 3s/steals/blocks and 49/78 %s. We just can't register this because we've stretched his cosmic fabric so thinly.

I understand not overreacting after 2-3 bad games or anything, but this is 7 out of 7 games where he's been an absolute dud, and I'm not seeing anything to make me more optimistic about his future.
Disregarding personal tolerances for risk and all that, just how much rope do you give a guy like this before just making the drop???
This is almost exactly similar to my Lamar Odom situation from last year when I drafted him in the 5th and he turned in nothing but stinkers....

Just go to his stats for this season, plug in .450 FG% and see what he'd be averaging. Even if it isn't fifth round value, I think Ersan will still be at least better than anything you could grab off the waivers in a 12 team league. Anything 12 teams and larger I'm definitely holding, he's getting good looks and he's a good shooter, he'll pick it up eventually.

Looks like our boy Ersan is loosing sleep over his play. Encouraging that he knows pressure is on to perform up to his contract, hopefully he gets some sleep and gets back to beasting like he was last year!
Ilyasova spent the offseason working on becoming bigger and stronger, and has been disappointed by his performance. Ilyasova even admitted feeling pressure to deliver on his new contract.
“I have had trouble sleeping lately,” Ilyasova said. “I just got to keep working and find my rhythm.”

@ohmygygld, sorry that was an error on my part. I just read it and saw the error. I meant Up for picking up Hayward and Down for keeping Ilyasova on my roster. It's hard to drop Ilyasova, because I did spend $15+ to acquire him in my auction, but 25 minutes is just not doing it.
I've been weighing all the pros and cons. Ilyasova is the 3rd scoring option, has a higher ceiling, but plays less minutes and he's not attacking the rim as much as last year and settling for more 3's and perimeter shots. Hayward is the 4th option behind Jefferson, Millsap and MoWill, but Corbin is still playing him 32 minutes per night and he's close to averaging the elusive 1 3/block/stl per night stat. Plus, he's shooting 45%FG and 80%FT. I don't think I can wait for Ersan's 16 pts/10 reb game to sell high on him.

The thing with Ersan, he only really has a 28 game sample size where he was any good. Nothing he showed in the rest of career (albeit short one) that he can do much more. The fact that he always beasts in international tournaments, then sucks in the NBA, means to me he just is not going to do it. The fact that he really delivered in the 28 games prior to getting an extension is a red flag for me, not a sign of things to come. And this coming from a guy who picked him up last year and he helped me win my miney league.
He can't stay this bad all year, but he's not gonna remotely approach what he did last year. Get what you can for him now I say

I can't say that I'm buying what you are selling there. What sucks about the per-minute production from his first few seasons in the league? 15/9 with useful 3+s+b typically makes me feel optimistic about a player's chances to be a good fantasy player going forward. And nobody is going to argue that his production didn't spike last season, but it's not exactly unusual for a player to post the best numbers of his career while playing the first meaningful minutes of his career at age 24.

I didn't see the Bucks game last night, but from looking at the stats, looks like he spent more time near the rim. Smart thing for a slumping player to do. Hoping to continue to see more banging of the boards (4 offensive RBs last night - good sign). Im thinking the confidence will come back and he's going to turn out OK. Maybe not top 50, but a contributor to any fantasy team
I still think the added bulk during the offseason is an issue that will continue to cause him problems throughout the year in long distance shooting. I'm not expecting him to hit 3s at previously seen rates from him.

neocache - I did watch the game last night, and you're 100% right. Ersan got at least 6 of his points on layups and tip ins, and he was attacking the offensive glass.
The Hornets shot an insane percentage, and didn't have many possessions, so there weren't really that many defensive rebounds to go around, Ersan looked confident and was playing hard, especially when you consider he was matched up against an incredibly athletic guy in Davis.
He's still the Bucks main pick and roll, pick and pop guy, he's setting screens for Monta and Jennings on almost every possession, and last night Jennings was finding him on the roll for easy points.

Good info there. Those oreb are a good sign, as his oreb% is currently about half of what it was last season, and he's down from 41% of FGA at the rim (last season) to 29% (current). And of course he's fallen from 46% 3PT to 28% thus far, while increasing his % of attempts - 19% of his FGA were threes last season, and it's 25% so far.

and since stl are not his strength anyway, there is a potential for the breakout game...
Who is supposed to guard him tonight? Mullens?
Do you cross your fingers and start him in 9cat roto tonight? (yea-up, no-down)

Looks like we all agree on the above...
In the meanwhile a great read/anlysis on Ersan's future:

and Ersan leaves the game after 4mins in the first quarter. SMH! over this, taking the best trade I can get now. Huge waste of 5th round pick

10 fairly unproductive minutes in the first half. I don't even know if its possible to shop him for anyone anymore.

Another horrible game for Ersan who's been extremely disappointing this season to say the least.
Will he pick it up? Or is it time to drop.
Seriously considering dropping him for Harrison Barnes (as crazy as that sounds). Would appreciate your advice..

I'd drop Ilyasova for Barnes. I think best case scenario with Ilyasova is top 75, but likely he ends up around 100. Milwaukee's frontcourt will take too many rebounds away from Ilyasova, that 10 rpg from the end of last year looks unrealistic at this point.
100% Agree (1 vote) |
I just dropped him for Barnes last night. I couldn't wait any longer for Ersan to bounce back and it doesn't look like he's getting the minutes to prove it. Barnes is at least getting the minutes as a starter. He may have a lower ceiling than Ilyasova, but I'd rather take the more consistent stats in a daily matchup league for now.

Dropped him for Thad Young in my 8 team shallow league.
Probably waited a week or two too long

I think it's time to cut bait on this guy. After today's game, it will likely be 10 straight bad games from him. I can only realistically see his value go up if Sanders somehow ends up getting injured. Even Henson is getting a little burn now.
100% Agree (2 votes) |
I'm keeping him. He'll be the mascot of my squad. I'll rename my team "Ermasculated" and will go straight to the top. All I need are 28 games from him late in the season. You will see. It will happen.

I can't take it anymore....
Would go through the trouble of trying to "sell low" on him, but I doubt I could get better value for him on the trade market, than Kevin Seraphin on the wire. Oh well, the only way I could've screwed that pick (4th round end tail) even worse, was maybe by drafting Bynum in the 2nd.... Ouch.

I thought 10 bux on Ersan in an auction league was a complete steal. Now I am not so sure. I bench him automatically on full roster days. i also still believe that he will wake up and find his mojo (i hope).

Traded him for Nene a few days ago in a very competitive league. Feeling pretty good about it now.

Damn.... I held on as long as i could and regretebly let him go and picked up Jason Thompson instead... Now that i;ve dropped him i'm sure he;ll return to form and come and bite me in my ass!!!!

Ersan is very inconsistent historically. He was huge in the 2nd half last season and helped me win a league but how long can you hold a guy who isnt even delivering good bench value? I targeted him in trades for the first couple of weeks of the season but now I'm pulling those back; this could be a season-long slump for him. Someone will probably get lucky with him in the 2nd half of the year but how long can you wait?

Same thing, tried to be patient, but dropped him for Seraphin. I had really high hopes for him but unfortunately, I doubt I could even trade him for any hot recent waiver wire pickups (i.e. Ramon Sessions). 100% Agree (1 vote) |

"Scott Skiles says he has no plans to give Ersan Ilyasova extra minutes to find a way out of his early-season slump.
Ilyasova is barely cracking six points a game in 22 minutes and expect those minutes to drop further if he can't get back in sync. Fantasy owners who wasted a high pick on Ilyasova just have to hope he finds his groove as the season goes along and before he gets buried on Skiles' bench."
Cut him 2 weeks a go and never look it back.

That report clearly implies that if Ersan starts shooting the ball well, he goes back to getting good minutes in the rotation.
In my opinion, that's really quite good news. I have no doubts that Ersan will start shooting better at some point this season (See Channing Frye's start last year) and I'm happy to stash him on my bench until he does.
I won't blame people for dropping him, but I'm a bit more of a patient owner than some, and I'd rather wait and see if he can pick things up.

Watched the 2nd quarter of the Bucks - Bulls game. Ersan just has zero confidence right now. He hesistates every time he gets the ball.

well he has 22 minutes near the end of 3rd quarter and he looks less hesitant to take the shot off the pass than before. perhaps the minutes are a sign of the much needed spark?

Him playing in the 4th Q and giving us some counting stats (6 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 0 turnovers) make me feel alot better. Hopefully this will be the start of him gaining his confidence back. When's the last time he saw the floor in the 4th Q?

Most important thing about this is the shot selection. 90% of his shots have been near the rim or behind the line. That's exactly what you want from him. And he's crashing the board finally. 6 reb in 20 minutes... with 3 on the offensive end.
Very promising signs this game.

This is a lesson to all of us when drafting. Ersan's absolute best is 5th roundish. So why draft a guy that CAN only return his ADP value at his best? This is a lot like ANtRand and his hype years. 4TH and 5TH rounds when that was the best he could achieve. In the future I will rather draft a riskier player like BLopez in the 4th round cause he has 2nd round upside.
12% Agree (8 votes) |
He put up top 10 value over the last half of last season (and won a few people some leagues), so I don't think saying 4th or 5th round value was the absolute ceiling for him is acurate.. Obviously he hasn't had a good year, but without the benefit of hindsight you can't say that there was no upside for picking Ilyasova in the 5th round. There was some upside from there, he has just failed to live up to it thoroughly so far.
83% Agree (6 votes) |
Put AntRand instead of Ersan in ur statement and change the year. ersan had a big month against teams that had already folded the season or were getting ready for the playoffs. I like Ersan to have value this year. I have him in one league my auction league. The funny thing he came up late when I had 11 players and basically bid all i had but 7 bux to get him. DCollison was my 13th player at 7 bux and just 95 nominations in I had my team. There is a huge difference between being top 10 for a month and being top 10 for a year. Obviously it was our expectation and hype that was wrong. Ersan and his skillset is exactly the same today as draft day. Besides he got his big payday and that seems to be enuff for a lot of players. The goal is to get paid not EARN the payday. Ersan gets the same money sitting on the bench drinking kool-aid as he would busting butt on the court for 40 minutes.
20% Agree (5 votes) |
Yeah Ersan's ceiling is 4th/5th round. It's not like he didn't provide 1st round value the last half of last season. How many guys have a realistic shot at 1 3, 1 steal and 1 block a night? He also has 8+ boards a night potential and can average 15 points a game with low turnovers. That's nightly 6 cat potential and that doesn't even count his %'s which have been horrible so far this year. That is the definition of 1st round upside and definitely worth a pick in the 5th round.
80% Agree (5 votes) |
Sometimes you have drastic opinions HF and mostly I agree with them like in this also even if I'm only one from what I can see from vote counts.
No way he will return top 40, top 50 draft value, I dont care if he has best ranking of all in one month at any point in the season, whole season performance (end ranks) what is importtant when you drafting someone in 4th or 5th round.
0% Agree (2 votes) |
 | dasein (606 posts) 11/27/2012 4:59 PM |
This meme that Ersan had 1 good month last year needs to be squashed. Here are the facts gents....
Ersan was ranked-
40 in cumulative value over the whole year (4th round)
48 in per-game value over the whole year (4th round)
14th in per-game value and 21st in cumulative value over the last 3 months. That's 42 games, which is half a full season, and most of last year's shortened season.
It's fair enough to be skeptical of a short spike in value at the end of a season, but this isn't what happened here. Ersan put together a significant and sustained run last year and it was perfectly reasonable to expect that he could continue. It hasn't panned out that way so far, but this idea that he was a mediocre player that had a nice few weeks during the silly season is just plain wrong.
100% Agree (10 votes) |
 | AZ18 (105 posts) 11/27/2012 5:02 PM |
Its still very early in the season, and I am definately still holding out hope of a turnaround to top 40 value. The biggest problem is the crowded frontcourt and obviously coach Skiles. Yesterday was a huge leap forward for Ersan though and every good game is a boost in confidence, slow steaps but im definately holding him now.
100% Agree (4 votes) |
He was dropped in my league, and I've seen several people talk about him being dropped in theirs as well. I think it's probably too soon to judge whether he'll provide 4th round value in the end, but I think he's the definition of a buy low candidate right now. And if you can grab him off the wire for the last spot on your roster, that's a no-brainer. Dasein is right, he's not a flop people got high on speculatively. I really hope Skiles keeps him coming off the bench for a while so he can develop a rhythm with a little less pressure.
Also, his career splits pretty clearly show he's a slow starter, though they are influenced by last year's performance.

Its finally time for me. I'll be dropping him Sunday. I paid $17 in the auction for him so looking to drop him for Patterson. I may overpay a bit so I get him but him for $10 will be way better then this bum.
Also likely dropping Stucky for Singler. Been a rough year for me. Hayward, Stuckey and Ersan all from starter to bench in the span of 13 games.

Bucks were down 16-0, and in came Ersan and Larry Sanders. Game was tied at half and he started 2nd half. Hopefully this is the big inning of him getting 30 min a night. Shit, I'd settle for 25!!!!

I still have him in 3 of 4 leagues. (Picked him up off waivers in one.) I'm hoping for a big night!

Ersan is having a much better game now! I've already dropped him and picked him back up this season. 13 points, 1 three, fgp .556 (!) ftp 1.000, 1 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk, 1 TO
As with every game, Ersan could be back this time. Until the next game...

Not a bad game at all:
15 pts, 1 3ptm, 5 Rebs, 4 Ast, 1 Blk, .454 FG, 1.000 FT
I've still got him stashed on my bench. Although the test will be whether he can keep the momentum up against Orlando on Monday.
Like dasein I was going to drop him for Jamison, but now I'm not so sure.

Unlink you, I don't have the luxury of picking up Jamison to drop Ersan.
But if that choice was presented to me, I'll do it in a heartbeat.
I still have Ersan in my top 3 money leagues.

Ersan other than gooden is the only true power forward and a stretch 4. the only big who can pick and pop and still possibly average 8 or 9 boards.
Sanders, dalembert are pure post players with no offense. dunleavy is a 2 or 3, he is the logical choice over the long haul although
you cant take anything for granted with Skiles

Me: "Hi. My name is Rico, and I picked Ersan in round 5."
Everyone: "Hi Rico!"
Me: "It started in September. I started looking at stats from the last two months. I thought, 'This will this year's Ryan Anderson.' I started spending my anticipated league winnings right after the draft. Now, a month later, my wife has left me, she took the kids and dog and moved in with a guy who picked Chris Bosh. My life's in ruins. I hit bottom tonight when I was watching the Bucks play New Orleans and I saw Ersan take a 10 footer that didn't hit the backboard. I...I can't... (sobbing incontrolably) ... I can't take it any more!"

From RW blurb
it's fair to assume that Scott Skiles didn't want him doing much better since an even bigger night would have been a boon to his confidence. Yes, you read that correctly, Skiles would prefer to keep a player under his thumb rather than have him feel what it's like to break out -- which makes sense if you're going to play rotation wizard nightly.
WOW -- someone actually wrote this

A month ago, on this very thread, when many posters were talking about dropping Ersan, I stated:
"I drafted him at 55 in one league and thought that was a very good deal. Little did I know....
However, there is no way I am throwing this guy back in the player pool, unless he loses a limb or goes blind."
The bottom line: Patience.
100% Agree (3 votes) |
Plenty of people (including me) held onto Ersan, but you have to take people's individual situations into account. League settings, standings etc.
For me, I was sitting in 4th place in a 14 team league, even with Ersan, so it's easy for me to hold on hoping he can get it together.
For someone who was struggling in a 10 or 12 man league, where attractive options like Sanders, World Peace etc were popping up around the time when Ersan was struggling, I would guess they jumped off the ship quickly taking into account the situation.
Patience is easy if you're going well, but for struggling teams, having patience can be very, very hard.

I had a look at his historic splits (1, 2), when given opportunity, he is a slow starter. Like a vintage car you need to idle before taking it on the road.
Add ontop of that the contract hs signed weighing on his sense of responsibility (from above), in hindsight it was going to happen.
I've taken the risk and added him in next weeks roster.
0% Agree (0 votes) |
Not to get too far off-topic, but I notice that I am frequently able to pick up very good players after a ew bad games, or a minor injury. As mentioned above, I got Ersan in one league, and stashed him on my bench.
In another league, I recently got Danny Green off waivers, and the very next day he returned and had a monster game. Can you imagine how the owner who dropped him felt?

Well, after a stretch of good games Ers plays for all of 13 minutes tonight, against the Pacers. Is it even worth groaning anymore? But frank it all, I've stuck with him this long I'm going to stay on it. I've been holding onto Ersan in one of my leagues, and nowit's getting really hard to hold onto him. I was at the C's/Bucks game tonight (crazy game, by the way), and on nearly every rebound opportunity that Larry Sanders had, Ersan didn't even make a move for the ball. He still had some great rebounding plays, and the two won't always be on the court together, but I think an ever-improving Sanders could really hurt Ersan's rebounding, and that kills most of his value.
Time to let him go in a 12-team league?

But it is a 10 starters league with 4 bench, need the upside lottery ticket of an Ilyasova more than I need Ramon Sessions right now, I think. It's a pretty deep league (12 teams with 10 pretty active), so it's not like there are a lot of clear pick-ups available...

it's funny, because when he was a free agent it seemed that lots of teams were interested in him, but now i can't see any team willing to trade for that contract. and it hasn't all been playing time, his per-36 minute #s are down this year too, from 17 PTS to 13.6, from 11.5 REB to 8.7, from 1.0 BLK to 0.5, from .492% FG to .394, and from .781% FT to .750. sure, more playing time means you can get into a rhythm, but you have to earn your PT, and it just might be, when we look back at his career that last year was an anomaly, and his ceiling. i don't even know why i'm bothering, the fact that this is the most active thread on here is laughable to me. i need a drink...

What to do with this guy? It's now past 1/3 of the season and he's cracked the 30 min barrier like once all year. I've been pretty patient even though I have droppped him in a few leagues because I didn't have much choice, I'm starting to wonder if Skiles will give him the minutes he needs to be productive. I'm thinking of claiming Darren Collison off waivers and dropping Illyasova but I'm hesitant to do this. Any input would be appreciated. I could drop Chalmers but I kinda need his steals. 100% Agree (1 vote) |

Needing therapy and some possibliy some advice so here goes. Buckle up. :)
In my 12x14 h2h money league, I drafted Ersan 42nd overall (when the guy I was targeting - Noah - got snagged at 41. Grrrr). Its somewhat of a unique league, in that we play 11 categories...the traditional 9 plus offensive rebs and 3pt %. Those 2 extra categories play right into Ersan's strengths and a big reason why he was a major key in me winning the league title last year.
I've held on to Ersan since draft day. Through all the up and downs and with Skiles' rotations driving me nuts. But I gave Ersan a long leash partially because his stats were so helpful in winning last year. I've also been in the top 3 in my standings for most of the year - so able to wait on him rounding into form.
Plus if you look at past 1, 2, and 4 week timeframes, he's played to his draft position in both BBM rankings and ESPN player rater ranking systems for our league settings.
But the truth is, I'm not sure not sure what to do with him. Owning him is less than fun. 22-25 minutes is what he gets nightly and it's hard to count on him coming through. He has the worst ROS projections on my team and a logical piece to drop if I want to make a wire move. But recent results speak the truth and appear to be decent. No doubt that I've convinced myself that the moment I drop him, he'll explode.
The wire in our league is pretty thin. There's not a lot on it (guys like J Rich, Aminu, Meeks, and Ariza are "best" available) A possiblity I'm curretnly thinking about is to drop Ersan and stash Big Baby Davis.
OK, I'm done. Thanks for listening.

Ersan is too volatile at this point with inconsistent minutes and whatnot. I would stash Davis, or pick up Aminu. Apparently Monty Williams likes playing him with Gordon, and he raved about him after last nights game. This could of course change, but Dominic McGuire has been waived, opening up more minutes, and leading me to believe this could stick.

Nice news!!!
Scott Skiles, who is in the final season of his contract, does not want a contract extension from the Bucks and will likely be replaced after the season.
Skiles' name has come up in coaching rumors over the last couple of years as they related to his future in Milwaukee, which was always cloudy at best. One source told TNT's David Aldridge that Skiles questions the Bucks vision for the future, and it's hard to argue with that logic. Aldridge also notes the Bucks have told Brandon Jennings they'll match any offer he receives in restricted free agency.

Or potentially bad news, right? If Skiles knows he's a lame duck and doesn't care about an extension there's nothing to stop him from continuing to use wacky rotations, play whoever he wants wherever and whenever he wants, and not play Ilyasova, who was given big dollars by management without his buy-in it seems.

Yeah this doesnt really change anything for this year IMO, Skiles will still roll with whoever he wants. Ersan wont be relevant this year unless there is an injury/trade that goes down. So glad i managed to rid myself of him!
0% Agree (0 votes) |
I wouldn't be so quick to say he wont be relevant. Sure it's frustrating to own him, but his current season rank is higher than anyone on my waiver wire, and his last month/2 weeks have been top 75 production for my punt blocks team.
Even if he's only getting 22 minutes, his shooting seems like it's picking back up, and he's putting up decent numbers recently.

well considering alot of people burnt a 5th/6th round pick on him, he isnt returning value is what I probably should have said. But given the fact that the rotation is deep and the Bucks have so many forwards, it really is hard to see any real light at the end of the tunnell.

When I wroted "good news" mented for next season not having to deal with him, atleast not in Bucks team lol.

The Milwaukee Bucks and head coach Scott Skiles have “parted ways,” USA Today’s Sam Amick reportedearly Tuesday morning. Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported via Twitter that the Bucks have named assistant Jim Boylan their interim head coach.

Skiles is gonna play out the year from what I've seen, so no
edit: whoops, looks like my news is old....soo ummm...... yes?
I was never really sold on Ilyasova anyway but definetly wouldn't hurt to stash him just in case. Same goes for any Bucks player we just don't know how the roster will shake out

Sooooooooooooo...to summarize...
Most people seemed to pick up Ilyasova in the 5th round, but apparently he's not worth more than a Snickers bar and a pair of used Chuck's, he's a top ten player every 3rd night or so, Cap is somewhere around step 10 of the program, while Toni is still in denial, fueled even more so by the fact that Skiles is no longer the Bucks coach, which means NOW, Ersan is potentially a "keeper" again, in exchange for Kawhi, Parsons or Drummond.
Did I miss something?
Tell you what guys...this thread...has got to be...one of the FUNNIEST THINGS I'VE EVER READ!!! "Reality" television doesn't even get this good!

well im happy i at least managed to get decent value for Ersan via trade, he was a huge bust and I can empathize with anyone who dropped him, looks like hes worth a speculative add and the comments from new coach are encouraging.
Still managed to pick him up in a couple of leagues, heres hoping he gets a proper chance to shine.

i shed blissful tears of joy when i saw the headlines of scott skiles' termination today. i'm sure he has his tighty whiteys in a bunch right now watching the bucks game on TV. skiles' neglect to hand out sufficient minutes to a $40M acquisition (detrimental to someone trying to get out of his early season funk) was downright atrocious. how you gon start MARQUIS DANIELS over him. anyways. holding steady in four out of four leagues and like i said befo', it's ova once ersan ilyasovas!!

Nothing new, you have always ignorent & stuborn idiots of coaches/GM's who will rather have worst results for the club just not admiting they are in a wrong and cont. to do the same thing over and over again. Smart jerking Steph around couple of years a go with exactly same thing like Skiles with Ilya in this one, also now he is screwing up that kid IT2 in Sacramento bc of A.Brooks. And be asured that cases will not be last ones, that things happen all the time.

God bless you Monta.
Scott Skiles has spent five season with theBucks and leaves Milwaukee with 162-182 record. Things haven't been totally disastrous for Skiles in Milwaukee, but ever since the Bucks acquired the high flying, flashy scorerMonta Ellis, Skiles style of defensive basketball hasn't meshed well with the direction of where the team is going with it's roster. Larry Sanders has been a total invention of Scott Skiles, but while Skiles has a defensive monster like Sanders, Brandon Jennings and Ellis have shown that the Bucks can compete by outscoring their opponent rather than holding them down. The Bucks front office apparently like how that sounds, and have decided to go in that direction. So did Monta Ellis and his offensive approach to the team help push Scott Skiles out the door?

Only caught his first game back, so can't speak about how he looks out there. But he hasn't cracked over 27 minutes and doesn't seem to be doing all the much to earn more playing time. How are people feeling out there? Small sample, sure, but it looks like there's little change from the Skiles era so far.
0% Agree (0 votes) |
He's had foul trouble in a number of games so far, but even if that wasn't a factor, him getting a consistent 26 minutes has me overjoyed beyond belief. That is a massive chance from the Skiles era, because consistent playing time is a massive benifit, and since he's been getting that consistent 26 minutes, his stats have significantly lifted. Obviously he's still not your 5th round pick, but he's well within the top 100, and seems to be improving, with 1 bad shooting game dragging down his "last week" ranking.
100% Agree (1 vote) |
yeah, the consistency in minutes should help I suppose. But it looks like they have something of a log jam at the small forward / power forward position in Milwaukee, so perhaps there is a ceiling to his minutes which we might already be at?
0% Agree (0 votes) |
It's looking like Skiles, while still a doof, wasn't quite as big of a doof on this particular point as may have been thought.

Last night I cut Illyasova on four different teams, mostly for guys with upside based on trade speculation (Favors, Bledsoe). I knew I should've waited at least a few more days but after reading several articles on trade deadline shakeup, it motivated me to move in a hurry. Also maybe taking too many Xanax last night didn't help me think rationally. I've made this kind of mistake too many time due to impatience and from being way too active on the waiver wire. Never again will I make this idiotic mistake. Life lesson.
How did I know he was gonna go off for 27pt 14reb but still cut him anyway? If you can figure that one out, please let me know because I feel like a complete dodo bird. Also, seeing the 26mpg adjustment had an influence on how much upside he actually has in that deep forward rotation. He did play 26 min tonight at least. Can anyone offer me any consolation? Or you can just tell me what a dodo I am. Either, or.

he has one good game every six, its bound to happen because of his upside. if he pulls these stats for the next 3 games, then we all got fucked due to impatience. regardless, it was so painful to wait this long . . . I traded him a while ago too.

I had him in one league and cut him before the game. It's a daily-tomorrow league so I got his stats from last night but now he's on the waivers. It's frustrating to look at but I expect him to do this every few games or so, then have 4-5 weak showings.

Sounds like the whole team is a lot happier under Boylan. Comments like "He actually talks to the players" and "I wasn't expecting the playing time" are pretty clear shots at Skiles.
Anyway, in that interview Ersan says "I've got my confidence back", which I've heard before from players, but hopefully it means he's ready to start producing some fantasy numbers.
