Any clue what is going on with this guy? I keep holding out for a breakout game but he seems to continue regressing. I understand that he won't keep up the 35% FG, but his rebound, blocking and overall game is lacking as well. Outside of a Kaman injury, I just don't see how he will get the minutes and production, especially with Dirk returning.
What do you guys say? Ride the way until he straightens it out, or cut ties? I contemplated dropping him for JJ Hickson in on 10 team, 9cat ROTO, but might give him one more chance against the lowly Wizards tomorrow night. Thoughts?

Carlisle made a general comment about taking a “good, long look” at the rotation after Monday’s loss. That might not necessarily be to Brand’s liking.
Matter of playing time for Elton Brand? link
Carlisle has been running a really deep rotation, with Brand not exactly being heavily featured, despite the injuries. His defensive per-36s are actually very good (8.6 reb, 1.7 stl, 1.7 blk), but that doesn't matter if the PT isn't there. I agree with seeing what happens in WAS, particularly in terms of minutes played.

They started Kaman at C and Brand at PF last night. Brand had a solid double-double.
Confirms my suspision that Brand is no longer an NBA starting center (if he ever was). I realize he won't be starting over a healthy Dirk at PF, but I bet he can come close to a double-double logging minutes against 2nd unit players.

This is a confusing situation is Dallas. I invested heavily in Brand this year as he was cheap for what I thought his production would yield. I don't expect huge things from him and he's not actually playing poorly as noted, but at 23 min/g (or possibly less...10 last night) is he even rosterable?
I thought he would pull 30 or so minutes in Dirk's absence and a few less afterwards...do you drop him in 12x13 if a decent option opens up?

He's rosterable with 23 mpg if his shots are falling, because he's currently at 6.1 reb, 0.8 stl, and 1.4 blk on the season - and, despite the mess, 154 in per-game. But at some point Carlisle will stop giving him a chance to work through this, particularly if Murphy/James show some things. I wouldn't pass over good options, but might pass over decent options.. for now.

What's going on with him? I've holding out and he has either been lackluster, not productive, or benched early. My speculation was that he was going to see high 20 or low 30 minutes per game, especially with Dirk out and possibly Kaman. However, Carlisle has been switching the rotations up and benching him at will. Even he himself is frustrated. At this point, he is dead to me.
Do I continue to stash him or pick up Patterson, Okafor, etc.? I desperately need blocks and I'd have to reach pretty deep.
Or was this 10 minutes an outlier and Carlisle wanted to give garbage time against the Cavaliers?
So frustrating, the uncertainty is.

Give him a last last chance tonight vs. GSW? He was going scoreless in under 11 minutes @CLE last game...
(yes-up, no-down) Thanks for the feedbacks..

Another tough line - only 14 min in an OT game. Don't understand entirely why he gets so few minutes even with Dirk out. Time to drop?

7 boards and 4 blocks in 25 minutes over the past two games, but also 2-of-8 FG... and just 25 minutes. I'd love to keep thinking that he'll settle in here before long, but it's really becoming a tough sell.

Brand's offense obviously has not been good and Carlisle has been content to see what he can get from Murphy, and has also been giving Marion some PF run. I've yet to see anything from Carlisle specifically addressing Brand's minutes/play since he said a week ago that Kaman/Brand would get some run together. In each of the past two games, Brand has been on the floor at the start of the 1st Q and halftime, but then doesn't leave the bench after being subbed out.

Just dropped Brand for Nene in 12-team 11-cat (OR + Mins) league. News that Dirk is returning in ~ 2 weeks made that decision easy.

I don't mind the move but to clarify: Dirk will resume basketball activities in two weeks, then hopes to return to the court 1-2 weeks after that.

I would have made move anyway. Brand has been such a rank disappointment.

Will we see Brand get a few more minutes in the short term with Murphy out of the picture and Nowitzki still out? Along with Carlisle's pretty vague comments on Nowitzki's timetable, it seems like he might not be back quite that soon, and adding Brand might be a good idea...

Murphy's departure does open up some FC playing time, but we'll see how many of those minutes go to Bernand James and Brandan Wright. If you've got a roster spot in play, there are worse ways to speculate with it - Brand's per-minute production, aside from PTS and FG%, remains excellent [BkRef].

More good games than bad with Dirk settling in as the starting PF..

Funky stat - Brand has two total turnovers in his last 234 minutes of playing time.

Carlisle obviously isn't in love with any of his bigs. No good reason to expect predictability at the C spot in Dallas any time soon.

Ugh. 48 minutes at center split between four players tonight: Brand 17, Wright 11, Kaman 11, James 11. Brand at least led the way...

Carlisle on Center rotation: "I give all the guys a lot of credit for hanging in there and understanding the dynamic of our team"
Translation: "I haven't got a FREAKING CLUE which one of these schlubs is going to play well on any given night...soOOOOOOOoooo, I'm just going to play them ALL... HOWEVER THE HELL I WANT TO!"
Yeah...THERE'S your Maverick Center rotation.
