This guy isplaying out  of his mind right meow. He did this last yr so it's no surprise. Obviously true shooting percentage will come down but other #'s are sustainable. Amare will return (kinda). Where does this guy stand? Talk amongst yourselves, I'm  getting  vaclempt.

Gauge his value in ur league. Once Shumpert returns he will take a huge hit. i would suggest starting with Brook Lopez owner then working down to Collison level. Or u could shop him for a higher drafted guy who is struggling. U should have an idea of the cats/stats u need. now just find a match. Another idea would be to shop him for another later drafted player that is playing well like Mayo, Kimba, or AK-47.

Is Barbara here?  Oh my!  Understanding J.R. Smith's resurgence this year is simple, and I can explain it in one word, minutes.  Whereas he's barely cracked 27 minutes his whole career, the Knicks are giving him 33 this year which would explain the extra production.  Actually, when you look at his per-36 minute production throughout his career, he's only slightly better this year than he has been in years past.

Career per-36 minutes:  18.6 PTS, 4.3 REB, 3.0 AST, 1.5 STL, 2.7 THR, .428% FG, .741% FT, .379% 3PT

2012 per-36 minutes:  19.5 PTS, 5.1 REB, 3.4 AST, 2.4 STL, 2.8 THR, .493% FG, .889%, .722% 3PT

As you can see, he's pretty close to his career marks, and when you consider he's only 5 games in, you have to assume his FG%, FT%, and STL, will normalize a bit, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to shoot 75% from downtown all year.  The minutes will be there, but the pace will not, and don't forget about his inevitable gun charge.  Sell high, if you can.

I would say that Shumpert not playing a lot is much more likely that Smith taking a huge hit. But when you also consider that Brewer/Prigioni are playing a combined 40 mpg, I don't see him falling off much minutes-wise moving forward in any case. Obviously take advantage in a massive overpay situation, but don't just trade him to do it.

Considering trading for J.R. Smith in a points league, where usage is very important.  He has been putting in 33-34 minutes a night.  Will that stay the same when Amar'e gets back?  I know they play different positions and all, but I'm just worried about committing to his usage if it will not stay the same.  Others' thoughts?

Don't pay for him assuming he'll play 33-34 mpg, pay assuming he'll play 29-30 mpg.
