Well, those big greens are going to normalize, at least a bit, and Amar'e and Shump are eventually coming back to muck things up. But Brewer/Prigioni are more likely to lose minutes than Kidd when Shump comes back (Novak/Sheed for Amar'e), particularly if he keeps playing anywhere near as well as he currently is. I'm in favor of riding this out if selling high to a NYK fanboy isn't an option. Maybe there is hope for the punt points strategy, after all?

I think Kidd will have a sneaky good season. Lots of 3's, stls, a few assists, and very low TO with decent percentages.

Matt, I heard you mention on your podcast about not being able to find a successful punt points strategy. Well, I actually used a punt pts strategy in all of my leagues. However, I implemented this strategy in roto leagues and maybe you were speaking of H2H. I have used this in H2H with great success so I think it works both ways. I do prefer to think of it more as devaluing points more than punting. I will say that I think that perhaps you were going after the wrong players(Conley & Nash). If you'd like I'd be happy to share. Fantasy legend if I recall correctly? Just kidding.I am rather fond of thatitle though.

Yeah, you'll recall that in the podcast I specifically solicited feedback. Feel free to share here or in the punt pts thread.

Hey all,
With Kidd out "indefinitely" apparently (back spams), how do you see the minutes spread? Especially, in my big 20teams, would prigioni relevant? he played good minutes last night but it seems, most of them were due to the blowout in the game with Milwaukee?
thanks

Prigioni's big minutes had more to do with JR Smith's foul trouble than anything. We've pegged Prigioni for 20mpg while Kidd is out, but there's yet to be actual confirmation that this is the apocalyptic injury that the media seems to be trumpeting. Prigioni's current line in 14 mpg doesn't exactly project to big things, in any case.

Kidd, who will miss his third straight game Friday night vs. Washington because of back spasms, revealed he took an MRI exam and it didn’t show anything significant. Kidd, 39, did back-strengthening exercises on the court during the morning shootaround and put up shots. “I hope so,’’ Kidd said. “That’s the plan - to get me back out there sometime next week. I feel great. A lot better as the week’s gone on. That’s the goal is to be 100 percent when you come back. No need to rush. Today was a great day working out. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.’’ Kidd is expected to miss Sunday’s game vs. the Suns at the Garden – his fourth. The Knicks embark on a three-game road trip – Wednesday in Charlotte, Thursday in Miami and Saturday in Chicago.

Kidd's Minutes: November - 26.1, December 32.9, January 27.9.
He actually played better as a SG next to Felton...how do you see his roll going forward in terms of minutes and production?

I think his December minutes will stand out as his most this season, so I expect it to hold around 26-27 the rest of the way, maybe even a DNP sprinkled here and there. Hopefully you took my advice and sold high a month ago.

Mike Woodson made passing reference to Jason Kidd ultimately returning to bench soon after Raymond Felton returns to lineup. Many of the writers were around Carmelo Anthony at the time of the statement as Melo tried to sneak out the exit door after practice yesterday, so there was no followup. If Kidd goes back to bench, Woodson could be thinking against the smallball lineup that has Melo at the 4. That means he soon could be ready to get Stoudemire back as starting 4. There are other options that would still keep Melo at the 4 - Brewer, Copeland - but that might be tough to pull off politically. Was surprised Woodson doesn't want to see Kidd and Felton pair up again. There is no timetable for Kidd to return to the bench but it looks like Woodson's master plan is to go the traditional route.

Mike Woodson may have revealed his starting backcourt plans once Raymond Felton returns. When talking about how his team has to endure a little more without Felton (who is targeting Saturday as his return), Woodson pointed to what the rotation may look like when Felton does return. "Rook can play some point and JR and Melo, they're capable of handling the ball, but, you know, that's not their positions," Woodson said, "so we eventually have to get back to our original point guard and Kidd coming off the bench, Kidd and Pablo doing their jobs coming off the bench. We'll eventually get there." So, by this thought, Woodson's plan is to have a backcourt of Felton and Iman Shumpert, who has started at the off-guard spot where Kidd had played earlier in the season. That seems like a logical move. It allows Kidd to come off the bench and play with J.R. Smith in the backcourt and also slide to the off-guard spot with Prigioni running the point.
