With Roy going down, is he grabbing his spot?  Don't know much about him or what his skillset is.

Projections ROS?

Comparable players?

Are we talking about a parsons/kawhi/Hayward glue guy type?

Shvedo with 30+min time is great (FG are downside), get him and enjoy, he can contribute in every cat.

Based on the last few games, and some more injuries to his teammates, it looks almost like Shved is on the verge of something of a breakout.  Does anyone have info on this guy, and is anyone else watching him closely or adding him to their rosters?

Maybe almost something of a breakout in that he'll see very steady short-term run, but even with Roy out of the picture there is Ridnour, Berea, and Lee, and Rubio will eventually be back. Like we've alreay seen, Shved can fill up a box score but will struggle with his FG%. His natural position is PG and he doesn't match up well with a lot of SG defensively, but Lee has been bad in every aspect, so Adelman's hand may be forced. Here are some scouting reports:

Thanks Matt, much appreciated as always.  There's definitely some nice potential there - maybe it's worth waiting a couple of games more to see what he can do with consistent playing time.

Try plugging in punt pts and see what that gives you for team and FA analysis. Being this far in the hole, you've got to zag instead of zig. It puts you in a position to make more creative roster moves than would be available otherwise.

With Love and Barea back, Shved only got 20 mins.  Is it time to drop him again?  I was hoping he'd be playing at least 30 when I picked him up

Roy doesn't need to be in the picture for it to be fairly crowded, particularly if Adelman remains content to trot Lee out there with the starters.

Yeah, I don't understand how he decided to start Lee over Shved

The situatino seems to be a little clearer now with Adelman saying he is part of the long term solution at SG.  Also been showing that as well with consistent ~30mpg over last 5 games.  Seems like he should deserve a bum short and long term.

"I think he will be," Adelman said when asked if Shved is the long-term answer at the shooting-guard spot. "I think he's a much better shooter than he has shown to this point. If he plays with Ricky, he'll get open shots and he'll knock those down. We've seen it time after time in practice: He makes shots. I think he'll become more of a solid shooter. What's good about him is you've seen his playmaking ability, too. He gives you both things." With the Wolves headed to Philadelphia and Boston for games Tuesday and Wednesday, Rubio's return still probably is eight days away and Adelman said he prefers to bring Shved's scoring and energy off the bench alongside J.J. Barea for now rather than promote him to a starter role.

Looks like we may see him pair up with Rubio once he's back.

I  remember Adelman used to have another tall Euro that could knock down a three by the name of Peja Stoyaka-something. Schved is not Peja, but he's a damn good basketball player. This is all very good for his fantasy prospects. Schved has averaged over 30 minutes over the last several games and, based on the quote that M-Bus posted above, and the fact that his competition is old and/or frail, I have to believe that he will be starting and getting at least 33-35 min a game by ASB. Does anyone else have any opinions on his pojected stats in this scenario? I think with 33-35 min, he gets about what he's averaging now: 17 PTS, 3.5 Reb, 4 Asts, 1 STL, 2 3PT with solid percentages for a SG (43% FG, 85% FT). This sounds reasonable and conservative to me based on the small sample size that I've seen so far. If so, we're talking poor mans Manu upside right?  Am I off? Thoughts?

Also, I have to believe that Rubio makes him better just like he makes everyone else better. Especially if Schved can knock down the 3 with consistancy, which I believe he has shown in the Euros.

Just dropped Aminu for him.

Lee's knee has him on the shelf, Rubio about to come back, so it should stick if he doesn't completely tank.

Lee has been diagnosed with a chondral knee injury:

A chondral knee injury is the result of articular cartilage damage within the knee. Articular cartilage is a specific connective tissue covering joint surfaces. Viewed by the naked eye, it has a glistening, white appearance. Microscopically, it is composed of water, collagen and a wide array of matrix proteins and lipids.

Articular cartilage has no nerve supplies and therefore does not cause pain or sensitivity when one experiences a mild or early injury.  It also cannot repair itself if damaged. Although symptoms of articular cartilage problems may not present themselves until later in life, they are very common.

Many factors play a role in chondral knee injuries including the patient's age when the degeneration starts, the patient's activity level  and weight and the overall presence of ligament damage.  Although cartilage damage may be in place for years, it sometimes takes a sudden injury to present symptoms.  If no sudden injury occurs, arthritis and osteoarthritis will result after many years of wear and tear and bone-on-bone rubbing.  This will cause a myriad of symptoms for the patient.

Chondral damage is graded from mild to severe, and all grades can have characteristics of osteoarthritis.

  • Grade 0: normal cartilage
  • Grade I: In this early stage, cartilage starts to become soft with swelling
  • Grade II: This stage will present a partial-thickness defect with fibrillation (shredded appearance) or fissures on the surface that do not reach the bone or exceed 1.5 cm in diameter.
  • Grade III: This stage presents an increased amount of fibrillation and fissuring to the level of subchondral bone in an area with a diameter more than 1.5 cm.  Patients will often complain about noise as the knee bends and soreness or trouble standing from a squatted position.
  • Grade IV: This phase will present an exposed subchondral bone—meaning, the cartilage may wear away completely. When the involved areas are large, pain usually becomes more severe, causing a limitation in activity.

Thanks for the link, red. I actually had Lee zeroed out after Rubio came back anyway, this only reinforces that.

I'm considering picking Shved up instead of Kyle Korver.

But I think Korver is more a sure thing than Shved.  I'm not saying Korver is gonna put up crazy numbers, but we basically know what Korver is gonna give us (10-12 ppg, 2.0-2.6 3ptm).  However, Shved has the potential to give me more assists, but I'm worried that he's gonna end up disappointing on his projections.

I picked him up earlier when all the hype here was starting about him, and then he was playing so inconsistent, so I dropped him.  What can I expect from him when Rubio comes back?  How can we honestly expect him to improve with Rubio back?  I know he'll probably swing over to SG, but does this hurt his assists numbers?  All I'm saying is, the backcourt is crowded with him, Rubio, Ridnour, and Barea.  Every one of those guys are pretty decent players, so they all deserve some share of the playing time.  So, does this cut away at Shved's production and minutes?

I don't want to mess up my one transaction that I have left this week, and its likely both of these guys will be gone by the end of this week (more likely Korver, since he's more recognizable - and he was just recently dropped, so somebody had him before).

What do you guys think?

I'm going to eventually drop Reggie Evans (after this week is done) and Andrea Bargnani (will probably drop him for Korver or Shved).  I could eventually pick both of them up, but who should I prioritize first?  (Korver or Shved).  I'm worried that Korver is more likely to be taken because of his name value (he's known), and can only get one this week, I'll have to wait for the other as early as Monday.

Which one of the two should I get?

I'd go with the European. I think he'll help you more in steals, and Korver likely won't get more assists even if Schved plays SG.

Looks like you could use Shved's counting stats a bit more than than Korver's 3PM.

I finally buckled down and picked up Shved yesterday.  One issue though, is his recent free throw shooting woes for real?

And he also missed 2 out of 2 today so far. If this is the case, I don't know if I can roster this guy at a 50-60% FT%, and he does have quite a few attempts too.

rough shooting in the last two games (both losses on the road):

2-15 overall, 1-10 from deep. also add 7 turnovers and 0-2 FT (small sample size, but he's now 52.6% on 2.7 attempts for December).

BUT.. you have to like the fact he tries so many 3's. and the 12 assists are nice too.

I also like the minutes and opportunities he's getting, but his shooting woes and poor percentages (both FG% and FT%) are a real downer.  Assists are nice, but I just dropped him and picked up Dorell Wright as a speculative add.  I do realize Dorell Wright might not maintain his current production once Jru Holiday gets back, but I think it's worth a gamble to stash him for now just in case he maintains his current production in the last 3 games.  I figure Alexey Shved is no threat to get picked up in my league with his recent poor games.  I could probably pick him up again in a few days again anyhow.  However, a performance like Dorell Wright's (25pts, 7 3ptm, 5 reb) are more likely to get noticed since he produced in the more "salient" stats to the average eye.
