Hi All,
Appreciate all your feedback. Right now I have the 2 pick in a Yahoo standard 12man Roto league, 9 Cat. I will most likely select Durant.
Question:
Who would you pair with 2nd and 3rd round picks(23rd, 26th) and 4th and 5th (47th and 50th) and why?
Right now, it seems like all the 2nd round Centers will be gone (Horford, Gasols, Ibaka). My thought is to select 2 solid PG early, even though there is a slough of PG in the draft.
I am considering going PG, PG with Jennings and Curry/Dragic (love thoughts here). Then target like a Tyson Chandler + D Lee in the 4th and 5th to shore up RBs. Obviously, I will be low on Blocks so I am considering other methods. I will definitely play the draft as it comes to me but wanted to get a solid strategy going in.
Let me know what you guys think!

I would go C PG in both ur first turn and second. At 23 a top center will be there. Ibaka, DMC, or the other 3 u mention. The exception is if Harden falls. if Harden is there at 23 grab him. At 26 u can grab Dragic, Curry even Nash. next time around u can grab Javale and Jrue and be set.

HF, would you change named players for 2-5 rounds in H2H settings or stay at named one.

HTH I would omit Nash from consideration. otherwise the names seem reasonable and good chance they are there.

@Hailfire4 are you high on DMC? It has been hard to draft with him for Roto as he has bad %, Asts, and TO, it can be compensated but with Durants strong FT% i want to amplify that rather than deter it unless im sold on DMC.
I think Harden will fall to me but still unsure how to build with Durant + Harden....
I would say our league is pretty accurate to Buser's ADP list, they really like Centers ang PG so I see a some wing players dropping.

Yikes, some not very good advice here. I have been getting two elite pg to pair with Durant, usually either Lowry, Jennings, Dragic, or Curry. Also, what I also found was that taking Millsap and Gay was a decent idea. In that scenario I grabbed Lin, Ginobili, Calderon to shore up my ast #s?

@twilo28 - who are you targeting 4th and 5th with the two PGs? I would assume some Centers?
Im looking at Noah, Bosh, A Davis, D Lee, Chandler, Hibbert (in that order)
I like your idea for possibly another SF and I'll test it out.
also Dragic or Curry? :) I think Dragic can be 16/8 with good overall other categories. Curry - I will wait to see some preseason. From the numbers Ive ran, I think Dragic makes a better pairing with Durant because of the higher Asts but Curry is so enticing with top 10 potential...
I am high on Jennings this year but no so much on Lowry. Let me know your thoughts.

If you picked KD and Howard/Harden are availble for your 2nd/3rd, it seems to me that you can actually built a great team without punting FT%...you need get yourself AST later - perhaps nash/lowery, get Kevin Martin later maybe and another decent big or two (like Varejao)..

No.No.No. You cannot have Howard on your team without royally screwing your FTs.
Durant/Dwight/Harden would give you a FT% around 0.75 -0.76 which would get you maybe 3rd from the bottom if you're lucky. And you'd hve to be avoiding other FT drags for the rest of the draft just to get that.

Well, it would be a splendid start in 6 of 9 cats. But as with any D12 build, you'd have to nail the execution perfectly, which means another one or two big positives in FT% (Kev Martin was mentioned) and you couldn't touch anyone else with an above-average drag (so no Varejao). It's doable, but the margin for error is very small.

Why would you even strategize with Durant? Durant is such a well rounded player, you really don't need to strategize who to pick to shore up any specific areas. I'd seriously just do best player available UNTIL you have some shortcomings.

I appriciate the feedback, but keep in mind that the goal is not to be on top in FT%, with Nash/K.Mart as mid rounds picks (and Harden/KD), you should be able to be at least in the middle of this category and to be very good in at least 6 other...I do agree however that the margin for error is very small...

@21598 You could also consider Monroe, Garnett, R.Anderson in that order. Honestly, I would move Noah, Bosh, Chandler down that list and slide Monroe & Garnett near the top. But...do whatever you'd like.

Thank you all!
@bruin True I think it is more what areas of KDs game do I want to emphasis and dominate those categories in. I agree I will play rounds 2/3 as best available but want to make sure all my bases are covered.

Thank you Ken and Buse'! Love the BBM community.

@Twilo appreciate the examples. I think we are trying to replicate similar teams. I hope for DLee in 4/5 and dream of ZBO in 6/7.
Good luck everyone and 'May the Odds be ever in your favor!' -did I just quote Hunger Games? Yes I did!!!
-also if any other strategies pop up - let me know!

@21598 I think we both have somewhat similar ideas on how to build a roto team with Durant and let's face it, that's as close to a flawless strategy as you can get. Thankfully, KD is so damn good that it makes it quite easy to draft a good team. It's almost unfair to have him.
