Just curious to see how everyone else sees him developing. I guess this would be more in line with a keeper or dynasty league type question. 0% Agree (0 votes) |
This year he is not getting any minutes behind Millsap, AlJeff, and Favours. Long term he should be fine. He definitely has a high end skill set and just needs a chance. He is not a bust he is only blocked.

Al Jeff and millsap are in contract years, think they'll give kanter run so they know what they have and to resign al Jeff, Paul millsap or both? Esp w favors also in the mix?

Somewhat Non basketball related---he broke up with his GF last year and has gone crazy this summer with partying. As with most guys who get dumped by a serious GF--He has hit the gym HARD this summer. He was playing at 292lbs last year. He's come into camp this year at 242lbs and leannnnn...sixpack and all. He seems to be moving really good out there and still has alot of his strength. He has a definate chip on his shoulder this year due to the GF thing. I love Favors...but I could see him stealing some of Favors mins this year. It may not happen this year due to the depth they have at F...but 2013 and on...hes a definate upside player.

Time to give this a bump.
If there is one, he is perhaps the preseason MVP. Just dropped 21 and 12 against Portland playing the entire 4th quarter against LeMarcus Aldridge.
21 and 16 per 36 as well.
I know it's only preseason, but I think he's worthy of increased stats on BBM and I can see him being good for 20 mpg.

Kanter has been tremendous, and has shown even more than the much-hyped Favors. The problem with projecting Kanter for 20 minutes is trying to make sense of Al Jefferson only playing 28, however.

Think all 4 could get stuck into a time share? (favours, millsap, al Jefferson, and kanter?) or some kind of pf/c rotation? I know millsap and al jef are studs but think they might want to know what they have for the future before they try to resign both their contract year players?

Any chance they paly Millsap some at SF?

No to the last few posts.
Jefferson and Milsapp aren't going to suddenly be platooned. Now in games Utah is up handily, Kanter/Favors should see the 20+ but don't count on it too often.
Milsapp at SF will be a rarity at best. Corbin has already stated he doesn't want to put a player where he's uncomfortable and pick up a bunch of fouls.
The biggest thing I'm taking away from Kanter's emergence is the fact Favors fantasy value for this year takes a sizable hit. Will be waiting to pounce on either of the two reserves though if any 1 of the 4 suffer an injury.

Not true... Their most effective lineup the second half of last year was Millsap SF Favors PF and Jefferson C.
I am a Jazz fan and can't but be excited about Kanter. With that said, something has to happen with one of these 4 peices this year. I doubt all 4 are in a Jazz uni by season's end. Namely Millsap (eek) or Jefferson.

The Jazz are in no-man's land right now. They're good enough to make the playoffs as is, but not good enough to win it all. As much sense as it makes for them to make a trade, it makes equally as much sense to stay put, so unfortunately this logjam will probablycontinue until there's an injury, and even then, you can never invest too much in Favors or Kanter this year knowing the logjam will recur when whoever's injured gets healthy. The offseason is another story though, and I would expect some major changes for them then, so Favors and Kanter are both legit stashes in keeper leagues, and should be per-minute studs you can plug and play this year.
