According to an NBA source, while ‘‘The Return’’ to the court for NBA games is still up in the air for Rose, the all-everything point guard could be just weeks away from practicing with the Bulls again after surgery on his left anterior cruciate ligament last May. ‘‘That’s the belief that a couple of [the Bulls’] players are under,’’ the source said. Rose has been expected to be able to play in games by February, but that has been inferred more than actually stated. Even if the Bulls receive the ultimate Christmas present of getting him back on the practice court just before Dec. 25, it doesn’t mean he’s necessarily ahead of that February schedule — or behind it.

In this business, we can all appreciate a slow news day, but there’s no need to get nutty about the latest Derrick Rose progress report.

Given this news, Wall (No updates) or Rose? Thoughts?

Derrick Rose has been dunking for weeks, but let's stop the madness
He's not anywhere close to practicing or playing. There are those in his camp who don't think he should play at all this season, for a couple of reasons: first, and foremost, the Bulls don't have a championship-caliber roster, so why shorten the strength and conditioning period for his knee to drag them into the playoffs or an extra round or two deeper. Second, don't mask just how flawed this roster is by coming back and finishing up strong. (My second call-out of the week: where are all those trumpeting the last few years how the Bulls' success was more or equally about their defense and Tom Thibodeau's coaching over DRose being a one-man assault weapon? Or that there was more talent around him than some people realized? No offense to Thibodeau, who is a very good coach, but just how brilliant is he looking now? Or the suggestion the Bulls' defense was good in spite, not because, of Derrick? Defensive FG percentage, overall and from 3pt range, suggest otherwise. And then there's just watching and comparing the actual games, that antiquated means of assessing a team -- I know, I'm a dinosaur that way.) Of course, all of this could be trumped by Rose simply deciding his body feels good enough to return and refusing to wait a minute longer. That is a very real possibility -- the Bulls could be 11 games out of a playoff spot with 10 to play and Rose would still think he could find a way to lead them there, or kill himself trying. But any suggestions that he could come back before March, from what I'm told, is filling the fan base and everyone else with unrealistic hope that a championship run is still in the equation. This season will be worthwhile if, and only if, it convinces management not to exploit Rose's talent, refusal to complain and never-say-die attitude and accept that what they have around him right now is not enough.

Most of what you said is correct but, last year Bulls probably scored about 40 points just from the PG position. And we replaced Rose, Watson, and Lucas with Hinrich, Nate Rob, and Belineli. Those 3 will score 25 total on a good night. And their passing isn't the greatest, so theyre not putting people in place to succeed either. Also we lost Korver which would put up 16 points along with Brewers 6 or so and replaced them with Jimmy Butler,Radmanovic, and Belineli. Defensively, everyones playing sloppy, getting too many fouls, and it still seems no ones focued... might be cause of Rose not being there or not. Thibs is again playing deng 40-42 minutes a game this year, but he also added Noah into the equation and is playing just as much as Deng is.
I also think Rose is far from playing again, but he did get picked up in my league. And this is a league full of people from Chicago. I would love to own Rose but I just dont see it happening unless he's maybe 2-3 weeks away from getting back into a game, which could be about 2-3 months from now. Thibs also isnt an outspoken person about injuries so who knows how Rose is actually doing.

There continues to be plenty of speculation of Derrick Rose’s return becoming more and more imminent, but at the present time, the 24-year-old superstar still isn’t close to being a full participant in practice, confirmed Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. Rose, who has been going through the team’s “early group” walk-through sessions before his teammates begin practice, also participated in light shooting drills at the end of Thursday’s practice at the Berto Center.
However, it doesn’t mean that the former league MVP is anywhere close to coming back, despite his daily desire to push the limits of recovery, as a person familiar with the situation recounted to CSNChicago.com. “It’s going to be a while. He’s just got to go step by step. This is all just the normal course of his rehab. He’s doing fine,” Thibodeau explained Friday morning, prior to the Bulls’ shootaround at Madison Square Garden, in advance of their evening game against the East-leading Knicks. “There’s not any urgency other than Derrick’s doing everything he can to handle his rehab and that’s all his focus is on right now, and that’s all we want it to be on. He did parts of practice,” the coach continued, referring to reports that Rose returned to practice Thursday. “There’s no contact, so that’s where he is right now. I think he’s in a great place. I think he understands what he’s trying to get accomplished. He’s handled that part great.”

Rose is making progress and demonstrates to the assembled media, in the waning moments of practices, that he’s retained his outside shooting touch, it doesn’t mean that his return is imminent. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the Chicago native will participate in three-on-three drills in the near future before being cleared to play in full-court five-on-five activities, hopefully by the end of the month, at which point, he’ll practice extensively before a likely return sometime after the All-Star break.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Wednesday that Derrick Rose is now taking "full contact" and the only thing left in his return from ACL surgery is putting in more time and then getting acclimated to a game situation.
"We can't sit here today and say he's going to be back in three weeks or after the All-Star break. Those things are a hope, but his body is going to tell us and then when we get to that point that's when we're going to have to sit down and determine, after we talk to our doctors and everything, then determine our gameplan of minutes and how best to bring him back. We don't want to bring him back and then have a setback because he wasn't totally ready. We want this to be a progression where he comes back, he starts to play and every week he gets better and feels better."
Reinsdorf consistently has maintained Rose won't play in a game until doctors assure him he's ready. "There's no date," Reinsdorf said during an interview with WGN-TV on Monday. "The doctors say that he's doing everything that he's supposed to be doing and there's no specific date.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Derrick Rose is showing "daily improvement," but the organization is still unsure of when Rose will return from knee surgery. Asked if there is a chance Rose could return this week, Thibodeau said: "I just go day by day. I just want him to continue to improve. When he's ready, he's ready. His focus is on the rehab, the team is focused on their improvement and our opponent and then at some point hopefully he rejoins us."

Being a Chicago native I've been following this on Chicago Sports Radio every day (AM1000 WMVP)... the media is getting more and mroe frustrated by Rose. Even the coach is saying stuff like day-to-day but then tried to say the same thing, that he'll come back when he's ready (no pressure). There is some news that Bulls may be putting some pressure behind the scenes saying it's mental and not physical. Makes sense as they need him to come back now if he's going to be able to help them in the playoff run (by getting in-sync with team and get in playoff game shape if that's even possible). He said he wants to dunk on his repaired knee before he comes back.
Predictions? Anyone else?
My guess is he'll come back at latest March 23rd if not a bit sooner. He's been out for longer than many other with the ACL replacement surgury. I'm actually recovering from the same injury right now (only 6 weeks removed not ~43 like D. Rose) so I know can be a terrible recovery and some don't recover as well as others (as mine process has been frustratingly slow). There is no way he doesn't want to come back this year, I think there is too much pride at stake (however the Bulls and fans might let it slide) as the media is turning on him a bit.
Will that help anyone in the Fantasy playoffs? I'm not so sure, I might say you might not want to stash him before you know how he's going to play, though be aware someone else may and you may regret it.

We went ahead and considered him out through the end of this current road trip. Obviously a home game vs MIA would be huge, but that also sets him up for a PR letdown if that's his first game and he's well below 100%. That 3.18 home game vs DEN is eight days out, and it seems like any of those home games between 3.18-27 are good targets. But just look at that schedule from 3.30 forward - 19 days, 12 games, four sets of back-to-backs, no consecutive days of rest. Assuming he does come back before April, you'd think he'd end up sitting out a few of those cupcakes over the final few weeks.

I think the whole point of this exercise is that he's not going to come back until he's ready to play, period. I don't see him coming back to limited minutes (relatively speaking). I'd probably have Rose slight ahead of Parker, but that's with neither having any kind of guarantee. What about stashing both while on your bye? I'm shocked that Rose is available, frankly.

decided to drop parker for rose.. seems like rose will likely play this monday and at least will have a full week of games before i need him next next week while parker could be rusty and popovich would save him for the playoffs as well.. if only i have another player i can drop to stash them both.. ^^

It’s amazing what an imagination and social media will do, as evidenced by a rumor that blew up Saturday in which Derrick Rose would make his season debut Monday against the Denver Nuggets at the United Center.
Two Bulls sources squashed the rumor, saying it’s business as usual for Rose as he recovers from surgery in May to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. That means a full-go in practice Sunday and a re-evaluation Monday. Then it’s up to Rose to decide if he’s ready to return.

@marki-surprised you dropped Parker. I thought he was going to come back earlier than projected? Rose is still an unknown with his knee, and ankles usually don't affect performance like knees do. I understand the spurs resting players and the bulls' great playoff schedule though. As with all things FBB, a little luck always helps!

i only had parker stashed for 2 days anyway.. since its playoff already i doubt if other teams will run for parker now.. will try to check again on monday if rose will play soon if not will probably try to snatch parker again..
plus that was buser approved.. haha.. if he does not play im gonna kill matt. lol! ^^

If yes - Drop Mo?
