He quietly posted great value last season - full season rank #45 in 29 MPG, last 2 month's of season rank at 18 at 30MPG. How many out there trust that Kaman will play all of or most of the season?? Yeah, didn't think so. So you've got Brand on DAL backing up both PF & C with an aging Dirk and injury prone Kaman in front of him. Dirk will average his 34 MPG but I think that there's a very good chance that Kaman will average under 30 MPG and miss games with injury. The 28-32 MPG range should be there for Brand. Add in the fact that he's a humble and proud guy that should be playing with a chip on his shoulder after being amnestied and you have a player who seems to be a big bargain at pick #112. 100% Agree (3 votes) |

Nice post. He was an excellent reality signing and should be a great fit in DAL.

Another veteran getting up there in age whose production many assume will just fall off. There's definite value to be had here.

100% agree. I've been targeting Brand anywhere from 75+ because I feel he is really low risk and a good all-around player. He can play C in real life, and can play alongside either Kaman or Dirk.
It feels 'boring' to target value plays, like Garnett and Brand, but their consistency is incredible.

Kaman already dealing with lower back issues at the onset of Maverick's training camp:

Liking Brand more and more as a late rd pick that will have value regardless and a player that could really outperform his ADP whenever Kaman misses games.

I like Brand based on where he is being drafted, especially for Roto. My only concern is, what happens as we get nearer to the end of the season and we're in the H2H playoffs when I need Brand the most? Given his age, is he likely to be intentionally rested and either play fewer minutes or take a few games off?
I believe he played a full slate of games and minutes with Philly last year so it wasn't an issue last year. Thoughts?

He isn't likely to play major minutes in the first place (29 per last season) and I doubt the Mavs will be in a position to sit key players for long enough to dramatically affect their fantasy impacts. Now if your h2h league plays through the very end of the regular season, that is another story entirely..

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Brandan Wright? His per-36s throughout his career have been outrageous, and he looked great towards the end of last season. I expect him to break out this year, leaving Brand as the 4th guy in the frontcourt and less than 20 mpg when Kaman is healthy. Anyone agree? What am I not getting here?

Some guys have all the potential in the world and it never happens. BWright appears to be one of those guys. Plus, the dude's missed major time with injury every season in his 5 year career.
I'm counting on Brand having value at C due to Kaman missing a bunch of games this year due to injury. I don't think Wright will see too many minutes a C in any scenario. He's an under 20MPG NBA role player at best. There are much better break-out players to target late IMO.
