I've basically blown off Amare in all mock drafts that I've done so far aside from one where I got him in the 6th rd because I'd rather pass on him for other if he's just going to be a 17 & 7 guy with low block totals and decreasing percentages. Most projections that I've seen have him at around 17-18pts/7-8reb/1blk.

However, ESPN has him at around 23.5pts/8.2reb/1.2blk, that's 1st/2nd rd production. People have been taking him a little too early for my taste, mid 4th to early 5th, but I've been thinking that he should at least produce at a 5th rd value and if he puts up the ESPN projected numbers, that is a guy that can basically win you your league. Just wanted to peoples thoughts on this matter as I feel that this is an intriguing case.

I would love to see whoever put that points projection together to justify it in detail. We're projecting a bit of a bump for his scoring, but that level is just not feasible unless Melo suffers a major injury.

That does seem a tad high to me. He did seem to be fine in the scoring department after Melo came over albeit with a slight drop off. Just curious, how did you guys come up with Amare's projections for the 2012-13 season? Maybe I'm being too nosy but I was wondering how it was put together.

Amar'e should've been on "do not draft" lists to begin with, but I'd wait on confirmation. Broussard's reporting is shaky at best.

I wish I could be free from caring about this from a fantasy perspective, but damn if I didn't take over a salary cap team that had Amare on an untradable near max deal for this year.
