Who would you take in the first year of a standard 9-cat yahoo keeper league (5 keepers)?

Ouch this is a tuff call. I  love batum for keepers. This year the choice that would help ur team is Batum obviously. Plus u get Batum for future years helping u. however.  i would take Rose in a second. it might tank u this year but future years u get a free first round draft pick. batum's upside is just not first round. I would take Rose, play the year out as best I could. really not a bad choice either way u go. if u take Batum u have to win this year. If u take Batum and finish anywhere but first u should have taken Rose.

thanks hailfire.  i took rose before i posted this thread, was just hoping for confirmation that i wasn't retarded here.  it was too hard for me to pass on derrick in favor of someone who keeps getting hyped but has never met expectations.  i'm okay with basically punting this year if it means getting first round value at fourth round price...  no IR, btw.  anyone else agree/disagree?

actually, Batum was in the 1st round for a period of last year when he was really humming. He may well get back there with a consistent roll. Can't knock you for going with the sure thing in Rose though.

If you can afford to sit on Rose all year, he'd be a huge bonus for the following year. But I'm more of the win now mindset, so I'd take Batum over Rose as your fifth keeper.

He's still far enough out (2.5 months or so) that there is nothing notable.
