Eric Gordon has had some soreness and swelling in his right knee — that would be the one he had surgery on last season that cost him most of the year — so the Hornets are going slow with him during training camp, the team announced. They used the words “limited participation.” Meaning he is sitting out the most strenuous drills.
“The team is taking a cautious approach with Eric to give him the best chance to be ready for the season,” General Manager Dell Demps said in a released statement.

I always draft my winner league team early. i find i can draft a better team while the league is still asleep. This allows me to be in a winner league next year. Once training camp opens and preseason games start the level of perception rises. Injuries can happen anytime but getting Stuckey in the 11th round can only happen early. i have my winner league draft posted in an earlier thread if u wish to peruse it.

Gettting Rodney Stuckey in the 11th round can happen late too. below average starting guards will little upside and no range really aren't that coveted for some reason. So help yourself, make sure you follow it up with Corrie and Ronnie Brewer in rd 12 &13.

My guess is yes - off the bench
Hornets coach Monty Williams said that Eric Gordon (knee) could assume a bench role to begin the season.
Williams doesn't want to push Gordon too hard too fast, and that's the right approach given his injury of knee problems. "It might be beneficial to have him come off the bench," Williams said. This doesn't lock Gordon into a bench role for an extended period of time, but it's not exactly what owners wanted to hear. However, Williams did say that he was "hopeful" Gordon could play Wednesday, but his official status remains up in the air. Austin Rivers or Roger Mason could start at SG if Gordon is out or coming off the bench.

I'm in a head to head matchup this week and the only stats that are going to be competitive are points and steals. I have to start all of the following except 1:
Thornton
RIP Hamilton
Batum
Eric Gordon
Wesley Matthews
Ariza (if I start Ariza I should win steals)

New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon out indefinitely with recurring knee problems link
New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon will be out indefinitely, Coach Monty Williams said Wednesday morning, though neither Williams nor Gordon could shed any light on the severity of the right knee problem that kept the team's max money player sidelined through the entirety of training camp.
Gordon was instructed by a member of the Hornets' media relations staff not to speak with reporters and was escorted to the locker room after shootaround by the team's security chief.
"He's going to be out," Williams said. "The way I understand it, he's going to be out indefinitely until we get some more clarity on what's going on so I don't have to answer these questions every day and give you guys the update. We'll just go from there."
Rookie Austin Rivers will start Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs at the two-guard spot.
Bump up all Hornets regulars in terms of usage, and Rivers, Xavier Henry, Vasquez, and Roger Mason get the minutes.

Honestly my first inclination is to flat cut him in my winners league. however I will show some restraint. I envision the same game played last year. Doctors saying there is nothing physical wrong, EG saying the tremendous pain is too much. I am not sure how long I will let him rot on my bench before getting a useable guy who wants to play. EG had all frikkin summer and offseason to get anything fixxed that can be fixxed. Waiting til the season is awful for everybody but the malingerer. Why New Orleans matched for this guy after last year is a mystery.

They both play a bit more, but there are not massive swings in their expected per-minute production. Rivers is not ready to be a productive fantasy player, so don't get too excited. At this point, he's an inefficient scorer and not much else - playing against reserves would be a much better spot for him.

What anger (and what is horrible?) I'm never anger, not in real sport events (when fantasy is not included) and also not in any fantasy situation(s), I dont know from where all that comes up (to conclude that), if you do not understand me saying that I do not EVER wish any player any injuries-I'm helpless not understanding that but reality is different and all the time someone have some tough injury which I can only reflect with facts about it, and fact is it that Stern has screwed up everything with that CP3 trade and fact is it N.O. after that idiocy decision making got EG in different trade, and fact is he cant get on court in any scenario bc of his injuries, and fact is it Suns offered insane $ for him and fact is (fortunate for Suns) N.O. has matched that looney offer. Just stating the facts and dont see anything wrong 1% about stating what is reality, and fact is that karma is the beyochhhh in real life. In a bit of a contradictory appearance before the media post-practice on Thursday, New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon conceded that physicians determined there is some damage causing the pain in his right knee, though Gordon said initially there was no structural compromise.
Gordon said the latest MRI results, and continued pain, are the reasons he missed Wednesday night's season-opening loss to the San Antonio Spurs and has been ruled out indefinitely.
"I've had MRIs, and I went to the team and they've always been aware of my injury. I have had MRIs lately, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's happening this weekend to see what's furthermore. .. . I will hear what the doctor's thinking this weekend."
"That's the reason why I'm not playing," Gordon said. "The past three days I've been practicing because I thought it would be something I might have to deal with pain-wise. I went to the organization the other day and told them 'This is not feeling too good. It's very painful.' We went and got another MRI."

So we'll see what they say this weekend, but the chance that it's relatively good news appears to be slim. Should you wait 48 hours for official updates before making a roster move? Probably.

With Gordon out for an extended amount of time, should I pick up Aminu? or should I pick up Rivers (depending on when he can start to produce).
Aminu had a really good line last night and I can afford to drop either Harrison Barnes or CJ miles (Miles production projections go down in my book after how well Waiters played the other night).

As an Eric Gordon owner i will be clear. I am not happy. He had the whole offseason after all last year to get his knee fixxed. Doctor after doctor says he has no physical reason for any discomfort. Besides the owner of the Hornets, Benson didn't even own the franchise at the first CP3 trade fiasco. If I was the Hornets I would suspend him for breach of contract. Chronic malingering or faking an injury must be suspendable. EGordon can feel free to find a doctor somewhere/anywhere who can discover a razor blade in his knee causing the pain. In fact EGordon should be the first guy who would want to find what his phantom pain is caused by. EGordon saying he had a "setback" is vague and untruthful. it is a lie. U must be in rehab to have a setback. Besides as the doctors say there is nothing wrong but EGordon being lazy.

Just a weird situation overall. There was a piece by Berger that said he hasn't issued a trade demand, but that could very well be because he can't be traded (per CBA rules) since he just signed a new deal. Damn am I glad I stayed the heck away from him in drafts this year.

If I was the Hornets I would look to void that contract. Apparently he was told last year that he needed this microfracture surgery. Him and his agent passed because of the free agency ramifications. Now that he has gotten his big contract he is now willing to do the procedure. Fraud will invalidate any contract in America. Of course the Hornet doctors look like toolboxes for not finding this. Oden had the exact same problem and prolly the exact same result. Happy Trails EGordon u had some big time skills and potential at one time.

6 weeks? Perfect time for his eligibility to be traded. I own this guy, but now I do wish NOLA would just bench him for the rest of the year.
If he really hate to play for NOLA, he should have waited a year so he is unrestricted free agent so NOLA had no chance to match the contract.

Same old song... Dont care anymore bc I cut him without any regrets but man, this is a parody with no end in sight.
Eric Gordon is focused on strengthening his quad over the next few weeks.
Monty Williams said that Gordon will be under "strict strengthening and rehabbing for the next few weeks," and this does nothing to change the timetable for Gordon's potential return. He said recently that he could be cleared to play in four to six weeks, but it all sounds and looks like a bunch of guess work and his timetable has changed routinely throughout his recovery process, highlighting why some are so skeptical about Gordon's real injury.

My buddy and I co-manage a team and traded Iguodala for Klay Thompson and Eric Gordon the other week. Stashing him away for now in hopes that maybe, some day, he'll play.
Our team is in first and we're winning each week so far so we figured it was worth the risk. If it fails to produce we at least got Klay Thompson as a potential 9th round keeper next season in a 12 team league so that's nice.

New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon could make his much anticipated regular-season debut Saturday on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats. Coach Monty Williams said Gordon continues to make progress and predicted he could play Saturday. Gordon has missed all 27 games this season because of a patella tendon disorder and bone bruise in his right knee, which required arthroscopic surgery last season that forced him miss all but nine games. "If I had to guess it would be Saturday against Charlotte,’’ Williams said before Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. "A lot of that is me, and we want to make sure that we bring him back when he’s in a lot better shape. He’s spent so much time rehabbing and getting his quad stronger, but we have to make sure he’s in a good place before he comes back.’’

Obviously not that anyone knows for sure but how likely do people think it is that EG will sit for the second game in next week's back to backs (1/29 @ LAL, 1/30 @ UTA, 2/1 @ DEN, 2/2 @ MIN)? Given that he sat out on two previous back to backs, it's probably pretty likely no? I am in a weekly H2H so trying to assess the risk I would be taking.
