Didn't see anything about Parker in this forum.

I have him on my team. I'm worried Pop's gonna rest him. Are my fears substantiated? Should I be looking to trade him?

I have a feeling he's not old like Duncan and Manu and Pop would keep him out there but need some advice. Thanks.

Here's the SAS schedule for March/April:

That stretch of five games in seven days (first week of April) looks ripe for some rest, but the fact that they play that often actually helps mitigate some of it. As in, I don't exactly expect Pop to hold out his starters for multiple games during that stretch. (That ORL game is almost certainly a YES.) To be honest, it looks like pretty smooth sailing otherwise - only one b2b the entire month of March, consective days off three times and three days off once. The other consideration here is that there is only 3.5 games of separation between the Spurs and the third-place LAC in the West, so there is most certainly something to play for.

I know places like Rotoworld have been and remain in full "take anything you can get for Spurs" mode, but does that schedule really set them up for needing rest? That said, assume the notables sit that ORL game and you are only looking at 3-3-3 in the default playoff weeks. Parker only averaged 25 mpg in April last season, yet still managed 14/7 on 51% FG and 83% FT, so be mindful of what you are trading him away for in any case.

Uhhhh...no...you DON'T have to worry about Pop resting Tony Parker. Right now, he's the young buck leader of that team, and the ONLY reason he'll get rest down the stretch is if he gets injured...period.

Even if those injuries are "trivial" (like the "thigh contusion" cheeky which kept him out of the PHO game recently - yet he was able to practice and continue on, business as usual batman ), Parker has as much of a chance as any other starting PG to keep playing down the stretch. Duncan, and now Manu, will sit more due to the depth the Spurs have developed at those positions. But we've got Gary Neal, Nando De Colo, Patty Mills and Cory Joseph backing up Parker when he rests - as much as I like that bunch on my homer squad, I don't think Parker "resting" will happen too often, if at all.

I wouldn't worry about it...but if you DO decide to shop him, don't think you need to just settle for whatever you can get. He should still demand some sort of premium for his current season rank. my 2 cents  yoda

Appreciate your 2 cents on the matter guys. Would love to just hold on to him as he's one of my favorites but I'm going to see if I can do a two for two and get teague and someone else.

Thanks again!

Yeah, Teague is a good target with that 4-4-4 schedule.

Yeah Tex, you are not aware of yours "jinx powers"angry

San Antonio Spurs PG Tony Parker left the game after suffering an apparent lower leg injury. His return is doubtful.

Well, listening to the broadcast online (working on the PC at the moment), it sounded like it could have been something in his knee. I didn't catch an update, though, and the next time I went back to check was already late in the game.

If Parker sits for any length of time, it could jeopardize your prospects to move him...sorry about that... blush  sad

Gregg Popovich on Tony Parker... "He's going to be out for a while"...Tony sprained his left ankle

No real indication what "a while" mean as of yet. Figure on Nando De Colo, Gary Neal, and Patty Mills getting more run. De Colo started the past two games that Parker missed, but for some reason I have to wonder if Pop doesn't turn to Mills in this case. In any case, I'm not rushing to the wire for anyone.

Assume Parker will have an MRI at some point tomorrow, which could produce a more official timetable.

Spurs say guard Tony Parker is expected to be out for approximately four weeks with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain.

It's going to be a mashup of Neal, De Colo, and Mills, unless Pop picks someone and sticks with them.

Would you drop Jeff Green or Robin Lopez to stash Tony Parker?

Doesn't change the timetable or anything, but Tony Parker spotted walking around practice gym with no crutches or boot or anything.

If his timetable sticks (one month), then no. It'd bring him back the last weekend of March, through most of the playoffs, and he'd be returning to a three-game week, presumably at less than full strength. (I say three games because he'll almost certainly sit when the Spurs play four games in five days that first week of April.)

Two days ago (3/8): “I ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes,” said a grinning Parker. “I know the rumors are out there about that.” The source of the rumors: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who reported before the game that a workout had been planned for Parker. The Frenchman suffered the injury during a 130-102 victory over the visiting Kings on March 1. (Head athletic trainer) Will Sevening told me he was going to try to get him to walk on the treadmill today,” Popovich said. “Whether that actually happened, I’m not sure.” Aware of Parker’s history of recovering from injuries earlier than anticipated, Popovich expressed optimism his leading scorer and assists man will beat the initial estimate of returning in four weeks.

Anyone doubt that he's coming back early now?  The injury was on 3/1 and 4 weeks out (3/29).  He could be back 3/27 for the full two final weeks of a playoff run.  Very stashable for teams that have a lead and a bye week for 1st round of playoffs.  Will Parker come back and play 100% of his old self, maybe, probably not because of reduced minutes but he was playing at a 1st round value and he can outplay probably anyone on most waivers (including D. Rose I assume, even if comes back by then).

Danny Green echoed Popovich’s previous comments that Parker continues to look good as he rehabs his sprained left ankle. The injury took place two weeks ago on Friday, the midway point on what is officially a four-week timetable. But Green, like his coach, believes Parker will be back quicker. “I’ve always said I didn’t think he’d be out the full four weeks,” he said. “I think he looks pretty healthy. I think he looks pretty good. You’d have to ask him, but he looks like he’s moving pretty well.”

"I got in some good practice this morning. Tomorrow, I'll see how I react, and I'll talk with Pop (Gregg Popovich) to know when I will return. I think I will return before the scheduled date." (via French site RMC Sport)

Looks like c77's call of 3.27 return could come to fruition. We'll see what the next few days bring.

Gregg Popovich ‘very concerned’ about Tony Parker’s health after Spurs loss to Thunder

I've already marker Parker as out for Saturday. This was from a SAS beat writer earlier today:

Just a guess, but I think we've seen the last of until season finale vs. Minny on 45-17; health > seed

But I'm not sure I want to go that far in the projections as of yet.

His star point guard boasting a medical chart perhaps best summarized as “banged-up body,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has announced no formal plan for shutting down Tony Parker over the final two weeks of the regular season. But Parker’s teammates aren’t going to be shocked if it happens by default.
