I was excited about Al Jeff as a top 10 pick 3 wks ago. After seeing Kanter play so well in preseason, and knowing Favors is definitely up for a bump in minutes this year, I'm not so sure. I'd already discounted Millsap's value, but with Kanter appearing to be a beast, I'm thinking the youth movement may be on its way. What does BBM Nation say? 0% Agree (0 votes) |

I think i've seen pre season predictions of this or that lots of times based on some great off-season or wonderful preseason.
Experience tells me that Al Jeff and Millsap will probably retain their roles and be awesome again.

I agree with Sonic Phantom, I've seen a lot of opinions on this and I just can't see Milsap NOT losing minutes to Favors. He was the centerpiece of the D-Will trade and it would behoove the franchise to utilize him more. I still like Milsap but personally think most projections I've seen for him, including BBM, are just a bit high.
However, I've got no problem taking Al Jeff in round one.

According to ESPN's Chad Ford, "virtually every GM in the league believes the Jazz are moving one of their two big men" by the Feb. 21 trade deadline.
This makes plenty of sense. In-house breakout candidate Derrick Favors is chomping at the bit for a starting role and both Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap are in the final year of their contracts. Ford considers Big Al more likely to be traded than franchise-favorite Paul Millsap. The time for fantasy owners to stash Favors is now. He's averaging 8.7 points, 6.1 rebound and 1.5 blocks in just 21.6 minutes per game this season.

Just speculating here, but if Utah trade al jeff or millsap for a pg and the Utah bigs rotation gets split 3 ways instead of 4, what type of minutes do you see kanter playing backing up both positions (pf,c)

I can see dropping Aminu to stash Favors, gamble on the unknown over the known. As for Kanter, he could emerge with 25 mpg if Al Jeff is gone and he's the clear FC3.

From rotoinfo,
Paul Millsap-F - Jazz
Brooklyn, Milwaukee and Denver are among the teams that might make a play for Utah forward Paul Millsap at the deadline.
Millsap's contract expires at season's end. Most teams interested in obtaining Millsap, however, would do so with the intent of offering him an immediate extension.

Fantasy wise, I think the nets are great for him but not sure about the other two...

Milwaukee is a mess, they are neither in win-now mode, or rebuilding. If they trade for Millsap they are essentially going for it now, so it's hard to imagine them giving up Monta Ellis for him. If they do, their core is reduced to Jennings-Millsap-Sanders, hardly a contender. I'm not sure what draft picks they contain, but I don't see how they can get Millsap without trading Ellis, and there's hardly any cap space left if/when they re-up Jennings, Sanders, and Ellis.
The Nets are a good landing spot for Millsap, but what does Utah get in return? They don't want a PF in return so Humphries doesn't help, not to mention Teletovic or Blatche, and Marshon Brooks is certainly not a clincher. They have tons of money tied up in Deron, Joe Johnson, Lopez, and Wallace, so unless Utah is craving an old, injury prone veteran, I don't see it.
Denver has some interesting assets, but I don't see how Millsap fits alongside Faried at all.
I think lots of teams are going to be interested in Millsap, but I still don't think Utah is as desperate to get rid of him as everyone thinks.
