Any opinion of Auction value for Ant Davis in a 9-cat 12-team yahoo keeper league (with +$7 added per year kept)? I was thinking $26, since in two years he would still be kept for $40. What do you think?

I drafted him last night.  Based on my league, he was valued at $29, and I can keep him for 3 years at +$3 a league.

I paid $32, which I think is reasonable.

I would look at his BBM auction value and add a little premium to it.  I think he could be a top 20 pick very soon.

In my auction draft last night AD went for 22. but there was no keeper ramifications.

Do you anticipate players that tend to fall towards the end of Rd1 in rankings lists going for about $40? If so, then that original quote makes plenty of sense.

I think that late first rounders usually go for low $50s high $40s in a $200, 12x13 auction draft. i ended up spending $30 on Davis. Get to keep him for $37 next year. Hope it's worth it.

i think 30 is a good price -- i'd also try to deal him to a block deficient club (unless you are too of course)

Why trade him in a keeper league? Unless you think he won't provide good return on your investment?

because i think he is the hot young prize of the moment (similar to grabbing hot prospects off the wire in baseball and then trading them before the hype fades)

i think the value that you can get for him will be greater than the value he will provide

as for the keeper, let's say he is good this year; next year he goes in the low 40s in an open auction -- that's not much of a keeper swing to me (you may use him but it sounds borderline to me)

Good point, I guess I like the idea of him turning into the next superstar and keeping him until he costs more than 50. One can only hope.
