Hey guys some thoughts on Jeff Green. I drafted Courtney Lee, but Greens games have impressed lately, and he give everything I need for my AST Punted team; pts reb stl blk. I drafted Courtney basing my decision using the ranking by player projections, but recent performs skyrockets Green past Lee. This guy worth a look?

He's behind Pierce and Bass/Sullinger on the depth chart. Without major minutes, he's a non-factor for fantasy.

he's a guy that might emerge towards the middle end of the season but I have doubts early on...skillset is there..and size..but he doesn't have the bulk to play PF/C where the C's need the most help....doubtful to make huge impact until garnett or pierce goes down or until he learns how to get more then 6reb/game

I believe what we found out during his first four NBA seasons was that his skillset isn't as great as was initially advertised. He can do a few things when playing massive minutes, but it's not like he's suddenly going to be a vastly superior player at age 26 and following a year away from the game.

Agree to a point Matt. It's not surprising to think that perhaps he didn't blossom as he could playing with studs like Westy and Durant. Now that he's healthy and on a team that obviously loves him, it's concievable he could have some value even in std leagues. Right now I'm only looking at him in deeper leagues but to the original post, I'd take my chances on him over Lee.

I'm with Red here. His game is versatile enough that he could end up being a decent glue guy. He won't see 30mpg without injuries but 26-28mpg is certainly on the cards. I don't mind him as a flyer this year.

2 years ago Green played 32 mpg off the bench in Boston, but was still only 122 in per game value for the season. To me that's about his ceiling, which isn't all tha exiting, and Boston is deeper now so I'm not convinced he'll even match that. It seems he needs like 37 mpg to get his top 75 value, and I think we can all agree that is a long shbt.

I'm with these guys. He's shown enough potential to risk taking out a late round flier on him, even in standard leagues in my opinion.
We run in a Salary Cap league over at the Cafe, and I picked Green up on a two year contract last season, on the off bet that he would come back this year and give me way more than the .25 million I'm paying for his contract. When you consider Lee is on another roster getting 2 mil this season, I'll take that bet.

Where you getting 32mpg from DC? Go check the game logs for 2010/11. Green went over 30mins twice only- the last couple of games when PP sat out. Apart from that he was playing in the low to mid 20s most nights.
Also, he had a new role on a new team with a completely different scheme that he had to learn on the fly. Rondo- who stirs the Celtics' drink- had just gone into a massive funk because his best freind on the team was traded. The fan base pretty much (unfairly) hated him because he was seen as the guy that broke up the "never lost a series" starting 5. I wouldn't say that a 26 game stretch with all this going on would be a definitive sample. Completely different situation now with a training camp and preseason under his belt. Not saying I'm expecting big things, but there are worse ways to use pick 150.

“Jeff (Green) stood out, probably more than everybody,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said of his team’s preseason. “I thought he established himself with everybody, which I thought was very important for him. We can tell them how good he is, (but) he had to show them. And I thought he did that."
More of that stuff here.

Yeah sorry the 32 mpg was the average over the whole season in both OKC and Boston, as was the 122 rank in per game. He was completly unrosterable in standard leagues after he moved to Boston
I still think Green is a guy who just needs massive time to put up standard league type value. He hits a few but not a ton of 3s, only steals at like an average to slightly below average rate. Both %s tend to be neutral at best, not many assists, so we're left with the like 13 points / 5 rebs (slightly optimistic on Boston's deep team imo) which doesn't stand out a ton either. I'm not arguing that he's not a good player in real life, but I do think there are alot of other good or even medicore players that translate that to 9-cat fantasy value better than Green.

i disagree with most people here.
to me, all signs are pointing up for Jeff Green.
they need his versatility if they want to match up well against MIA

Tonight, he just had one of the best fantasy lines of the season. Possibly second to Harden against OKC the other night.

Looking for advice:
Should I keep Green, or drop him for Avery Bradley (48%-50% FG after all star break in 2012), Or drop Green to stash Mo Williams
My team's points (League of 10, coming first but only by a fraction i.e.1-1.5 pts):

How far ahead are you in STL and BLK? If you aren't likely to lose much ground in BLK, then RoLo could be the cut. And if you are well ahead in STL, then Bradley loses some appeal.

Im ahead in STL by 90+ and ahead in BLK by 40+, GP between teams is fairly even; +/- 1 Game.
Rebounds is tight, so is FG% and FT%... I have no idea why my team is struggling in ft% to be honest, can't seem to breakthrough the middle pack.
The players im looking to draft are as follows - Derrick Favors(W), Chris Kaman/Elton Brand, Gerald Henderson, Derrick Williams, Tyler Zeller
Dont judge me =(...our FA pool is pretty shallow. I'm only keeping rolo really for FG%.
good idea to keep Jeff Green you think?

Crazier things have happened with guys getting 30ish minutes. He's been playing (mostly) well lately and BOS has a 4-4-4 default playoff schedule.
