Not as many people here at this point in the season, but I wanted to point out that unfortunately Kyle McKeown has suffered a very serious accident and TBI. His family is raising money for his medical care and providing updates here if anyone can help out. We are all pulling for him

Donated, and PRAYERS for Kyle and his family...

Here's the latest update:

Kyle had his MRI bright and early this morning, and we are incredibly happy to share some wonderful news. The MRI showed that, aside from his broken jaw and skull fractures, there are no additional injuries. This was a huge relief for our family.

Because of his progress, the doctors were also able to remove his C-collar and monitoring leads today. They have been slowly lowering his sedation medications, and we are encouraged by the responses we're seeing. Kyle is reacting to light, touch, and voices. He has been trying to open one of his eyes and has been moving his arm. AND... Kyle is breathing on his own. He is still hooked up to the ventilator, but is not being provided with oxygen from it!

Since Kyle was heavily sedated, it can take several days for those medications to fully leave his system. We still won't know the full extent of his brain injury until he is awake, but we are so grateful for these positive signs and the progress he continues to make each day.

Kyle loves life, and we know he's not done yet.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed for, and stood beside us throughout this journey. Your love and encouragement mean more to us than words can express.

Love,
Kyle's Family

Another good update:

Over the past couple of days, Kyle has been slowly waking up, and we are beyond excited to share some incredible progress.

Kyle is now following commands such as giving a thumbs up and sticking out his tongue. This morning, Duncan sent a video message for Uncle Kyle, showing him howling at the moon. The moment the video started playing, Kyle immediately opened his eyes in response. It was such a special moment for all of us.

He's also been mouthing words and names, including April, Kevin, and Dad. Today, the team helped transfer him into a recliner, where he got to chill for a while. Although Kyle is still sleeping a lot and remains very tired when his eyes are open, he continues to show us so many amazing signs of recovery. He can hear us, and most importantly, he knows who we are.

Kyle also underwent his second procedure, and his PEG tube was successfully placed. The team was able to remove the feeding tube from his nose, and the difference in his comfort level was noticeable almost immediately.

IT WAS A FANTASTIC DAY.

We know Kyle still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but seeing these milestones fills us with hope. Every day, he shows us more of the strength and determination that make him who he is, and we are more confident than ever that we will have our Kyle back.

To our Healing Horizon Village: thank you. Your prayers, encouragement, kindness, and unwavering support have carried us through some of the hardest days of our lives. We truly couldn't do this without you.

Love,
Kyle's Family

Yesterday was another incredible day for Kyle. He was fully alert and showed some amazing progress with communication. While he is still unable to speak because of the trach, the team plans to cap it soon so he can begin using his voice. It is very clear that Kyle wants to talk, and we can only imagine how frustrating it must be not being able to express himself yet.

He continues to amaze us every day. It's hard to believe how far he has come considering his accident was only 15 days ago. We are so grateful for the progress he continues to make.

The plan today was for Kyle to be transferred to his inpatient rehabilitation facility, but there was a change of plans when his PEG tube became dislodged. He had to undergo surgery to have it replaced, and we're happy to report that the procedure went smoothly with no complications. After surgery, Kyle spent much of the day resting, but he also got to enjoy some sunshine from his recliner.

The new plan is for Kyle to transfer to rehab tomorrow, and we are excited for this next step in his recovery journey.

Thank you all, once again, for your continued prayers, encouragement, and support. Every message, visit, and kind thought means so much. Kyle appreciates all of you, and so do we.

Love,
Kyle and Family

It’s been quite a week, and we wanted to take some time before sharing an update so we could respect Kyle’s privacy and allow him space to heal.
We are overjoyed to share that Kyle woke up last weekend and continues to exceed every expectation. He is doing incredibly well and was able to go home yesterday. While he still has a long road ahead as he focuses on rebuilding his strength and mobility, his progress has been nothing short of remarkable.
Kyle has expressed how deeply grateful he is for every prayer, kind message, donation, positive thought, and act of support he has received. Our family is overwhelmed by the love that has surrounded him throughout this journey. Your encouragement carried us through some of the most difficult days, and we will never be able to fully express how much it has meant.
Kyle is truly a miracle, and we are so thankful that what once felt impossible has become a best-case scenario. We know there is still healing ahead, but today our hearts are full of hope and gratitude.
Thank you for continuing to keep Kyle in your thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for each and every one of you.

Love,
Kyle & Family

Thank you for the love and support everyone. It was amazing to wake up and see all the comments and concern, especially from Josh and Ken, and everyone. I'm rehabbing a lot and still getting back to full strength, but the care and support I've received has been humbling and brought me an even deeper gratitude for all the Basketball Monster community.

I was in a car accident that put me in a coma for almost 2 weeks. No concern. I've been healing quickly, am close to full strength already, and most people have been surprised by how well I've recovered cognitively. Everything is moving in the right direction because of the love, prayers, and other support everyone has given during this time.

I can't say thank you enough. And I can't sorry enough for scaring everyone with this incident.

With love and gratitude,  Kyle

Glad to hear you've recovered quickly enough Kyle. Nothing to be sorry about given the incident, the important thing is you're back at almost full strength. Cheers and hope you're back at 100% sooner rather than later.
