Out for season Concussion Open link
The Kings announced Saturday that Gay will miss the final three games of the regular season due to his lingering concussion symptoms. He missed three games after originally suffering the concussion on March 30 and then returned Tuesday to play 38 minutes, but experienced more symptoms following the win and was held out of two games since. Further examinations by team doctors on Saturday led to Gay being shut down for good. Derrick Williams, Omri Casspi, and Carl Landry will see extended run at the forward spots the rest of the way in his absence.

Coach George Karl said Saturday that he expects Gay to miss the final three games of the season due to his lingering concussion. Gay had returned Tuesday after missing the previous three games and played 38 minutes during the win, but complained of a headache afterwards and has missed two games since. Derrick Williams, Omri Casspi, and Carl Landry will see extended run at the forward spots the rest of the way in Gay's absence.

Out Concussion Open link
Gay has been ruled out for Friday's contest vs. the Thunder as he continues to deal with a concussion. He was upgraded to questionable heading in, so it doesn't appear that he's too far off from a return to action. Gay was held out on Wednesday due to lingering symptoms, and had said following Tuesday's win that he was still dealing with a headache in his return from a three-game absence after initially suffering the concussion during a March 30 loss. He had passed the league's protocol on Tuesday and didn't appear to be too limited during the game, scoring a team-high 33 points in 38 minutes. Omri Casspi, Derrick Williams, and Carl Landry will continue to see extended run at the forward spots in Gay's absence.

Gay will be active and in the starting lineup for Thursday's game vs. the Bucks, as expected. He was listed as probable on the Kings' injury report due to his lingering right Achilles tendinitis, although it's just a procedural move with Gay having played through it for most of the past month. He first started dealing with the soreness back on Nov. 15 vs. the Spurs, playing in three games and averaging 36 minutes since. While this doesn't appear to be a serious issue, he's taking some time off finally so he could get it back to 100 percent. Gay's status will also be in question for Wednesday as well in the second leg of a back-to-back, as it makes sense for him to sit out that game to give him an extra two days of rest. Omri Casspi and Derrick Williams will see more run on the wing for at least one game with Gay sidelined.

Questionable Right Achilles tendinitis Open link
Gay is once again being listed as questionable by the Kings due to his lingering right Achilles tendinitis. He first started dealing with soreness on Nov. 15 vs. the Spurs, playing in three games and averaging 36 minutes since. While this doesn't appear to be a serious issue, he may eventually be forced to sit out a game in an effort to get closer to 100 percent. Omri Casspi and Derrick Williams would see more run on the wing for the Kings if Gay were eventually forced to miss any time.

Active Right Achilles tendinitis Open link
Gay, DeMarcus Cousins, and Jason Thompson are all in the starting lineup for Thursday's game vs. the Bulls, as expected. Gay has been dealing with a minor case of right Achilles tendinitis, which he started to suffer from on Saturday. Cousins and Thompson were both considered probable heading in - Cousins with left hip flexor tendinitis and Thompson with left quadriceps tendinitis. All three appear ready to go Thursday.

Probable Right Achilles tendinitis Open link
Gay has been upgraded to probable for Thursday's game vs. the Bulls as he continues to be dealing with at least a minor case of right Achilles tendinitis. He was listed as questionable heading into Tuesday's loss, and ended up scoring 15 points in 37 minutes. The Kings said he started suffering from the tendinitis on Saturday, but the team continues to be scarce on additional details. We'll consider this to be a minor issue unless new information leads us to think otherwise. The Kings are also continuing to list both DeMarcus Cousins (hip) and Jason Thompson (quad) as probable.

Active Right Achilles tendinitis Open link
Gay will be in the Kings' starting lineup on Tuesday vs. the Pelicans, as expected. The Kings were officially calling Gay questionable as of Monday afternoon due to right Achilles tendinitis. There haven't been many other details released over the past 24 hours outside of simple status designations, so for now we'll consider this was just a minor issue unless new information leads us to think otherwise. Jason Thompson (quad) also will be active for the Kings on Tuesday.

Questionable Right Achilles tendinitis Open link
The Kings announced Monday that Gay is questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans due to right Achilles tendinitis. There haven't been many other details released beyond his status, so we'll post more information when it becomes available. Omri Casspi and Derrick Williams would be in line for the minutes if Gay ends up being forced to sit out on Tuesday.

Active Illness Open link
Gay will play and be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Thunder, as expected. He played at less than 100 percent during Friday's win over the Suns due to an illness, making just five of his 22 shots while playing a whopping 48 minutes.

Probable Illness Open link
Gay has been officially upgraded to probable for Sunday's game vs. the Thunder, a good sign that his illness has improved, and all indications are now that he'll be in the lineup for the Kings. He played at less than 100 percent during Friday's win over the Suns, making just five of his 22 shots while playing a whopping 48 minutes.
10/25/2014 3:08 PM
Probable Sore jaw Open link
Saturday's follow-up X-rays on Gay's jaw were negative, meaning he has no fracture, and the concussion test he was administered also was negative. This is great news and now means he's merely day-to-day with some soreness instead of a potentially long injury timetable. Expect Gay to be good to go for the Kings' season opener on Wednesday.
10/24/2014 11:56 PM
Questionable Jaw Open link
Gay exited Friday's preseason finale vs. the Lakers in the second quarter after taking an inadvertent elbow from Julius Randle to the jaw. He went down to the court briefly and then exited, heading straight to the locker room. Coach Michael Malone said after the game that he doesn't believe that Gay's injury is serious, but he'll undergo X-rays on Saturday. It's likely that he aggravated the jaw injury that he suffered during FIBA play over the summer, which coincidentally didn't require him to miss a game. Derrick Williams and Omri Casspi would step into the minutes at small forward if the X-rays do reveal anything that would require Gay to miss some time.
