Active Back-to-back Open link
Gallinari will be active and in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season finale vs. the Warriors. He was held out of the second leg of the Nuggets' previous five back-to-backs, including Monday's loss, with the Nuggets exercising caution as he works his way back to full strength from a torn meniscus in his right knee. Gallinari will be looking at an expanded role on Wednesday with Kenneth Faried (rest) and Darrell Arthur (calf) having been ruled out.
4/13/2015 8:17 PM
Doubtful Back-to-back Open link
Gallinari is not expected to play in Monday's game vs. the Clippers, the second leg of a back-to-back for the Nuggets. He was held out of the team's previous four back-to-backs and it's expected to continue for what is the last set of back-to-back games of the season. Jusuf Nurkic, Will Barton, and Joffrey Lauvergne will see extended run in Gallinari's expected absence on Monday.
4/4/2015 7:18 PM
Out Rest Open link
Gallinari has been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. the Clippers, as expected, for the purposes of rest in what is the second leg of a back-to-back for the Nuggets. He was held out of the previous three back-to-backs as well, and will continue to through the end of the season with the team having one more instance on April 12-13. Jusuf Nurkic, Will Barton, and Gary Harris will see extended run in Gallinari's absence on Saturday.
3/28/2015 7:27 PM
Out Rest Open link
Gallinari has been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. the Blazers, as expected, for the purposes of rest in what is the second leg of a back-to-back. This has become routine as he's done it in the Nuggets' last two back-to-backs, and will continue to through the end of the season. Will Barton and Gary Harris will see extended run on the wing in Gallinari's absence.
3/27/2015 6:27 PM
Active Shoulder Open link
Gallinari will be active and in the starting lineup for Friday's game vs. the Jazz. He did not play in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's loss after suffering a shoulder injury, although there were no in-game reports and and he said afterwards that it was not serious. Gallinari appears to be good to go and this shouldn't affect his availability going forward.
3/25/2015 11:13 PM
Probable Shoulder Open link
Gallinari did not play in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game after suffering a shoulder injury. There were no in-game reports and it's not known how he suffered the injury at this point, but he said after the game it's not serious. We'll consider Gallinari probable for Friday's game vs. the Jazz for now and look for further updates of his status in the interim. Wilson Chandler, Will Barton, and Darrell Arthur (calf) would see additional run at the forward spots if this did happen to cost him any time going forward.
3/20/2015 11:31 AM
Out Rest Open link
Gallinari has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Heat for the purposes of rest in what is the second leg of a back-to-back. He's likely to continue to sit out of the second leg of back-to-backs for the rest of the season as a precaution. Will Barton, Gary Harris, and Erick Green will see extended run on Friday in Gallinari's absence.
1/22/2015 11:23 AM
Active Torn meniscus Open link
Gallinari will be available to play on Friday vs. the Celtics. This has been his target date for about a week so his return doesn't exactly come as a surprise, and this will be his first game action since Dec. 20. Gallinari has been ramping up his activity recently after being sidelined for the past four weeks following surgery for the torn meniscus in his right knee. He opted to have his meniscus removed, not repaired, which allows for a quicker return but can cause longer-term complications. Gallinari had previously tore the meniscus and ACL in his left knee, missing the entirety of the 2013-14 season as a result. His return will cut into the minutes of Alonzo Gee and Gary Harris on the wing, and he'll assuredly be eased back in after such an extended layoff.
1/16/2015 6:43 PM
Injured Torn meniscus Open link
Gallinari took jump shots prior to Friday's game and says he's eyeing a return to the lineup on Jan. 23 vs. the Celtics. He has been ramping up his activity over the past few weeks after being sidelined for the past four weeks following surgery for the torn meniscus in his right knee. Gallinari opted to have his meniscus removed, not repaired, which allows for a quicker return but can cause longer-term complications. He had previously tore the meniscus and ACL in his left knee, missing the entirety of the 2013-14 season as a result. Alonzo Gee and Gary Harris will continue to see additional run on the wing for the Nuggets while Gallinari remains sidelined.
12/22/2014 5:04 PM
Injured Torn meniscus Open link
Gallinari will undergo surgery on Monday for the torn meniscus in his right knee. He is out indefinitely, and there is a tentative timetable of three weeks for his return. That implies that he's opting to have his meniscus removed, not repaired, which allows for a quicker return but can cause longer-term complications. Gallinari had previously tore the meniscus and ACL in his left knee, missing the entirety of the 2013-14 season as a result. We'll continue to update his timeline as needed. Alonzo Gee and Gary Harris will see additional run on the wing for the Nuggets in his place.
12/17/2014 12:48 PM
Active Left knee soreness Open link
Gallinari will return to the lineup for Wednesday's contest vs. the Rockets after missing the past three games due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee. He said he's still feeling discomfort in his knee, but will just play through it. It's good to see Gallinari back, but the continued soreness and the fact he's far from 100 percent will continue to limit his effectiveness. His return will likely push Alonzo Gee back out of the Nuggets' rotation.
12/16/2014 2:24 PM
Questionable Left knee soreness Open link
Gallinari returned to practice on Tuesday, which bodes well for his chances of playing on Wednesday vs. the Rockets after missing the past three games due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee. He said he's still feeling discomfort in his knee, but will just play though it. It's good to see him close to a return, but the continued soreness and the fact he's far from 100 percent will continue to limit his effectiveness. Gallinari's eventual return will likely push Alonzo Gee back out of the Nuggets' rotation.
12/11/2014 2:39 PM
Injured Left knee soreness Open link
Gallinari estimates that he'll miss the next couple of games in order to rest and heal his surgically-repaired left knee. He also added that he doesn't believe this is a long-term injury. His sitting out makes sense as he's been experiencing soreness recently and the time off to rest will give him a chance to get his knee back closer to 100 percent. "The guy was out 19 months," coach Brian Shaw said. "He's still experiencing a little bit of pain. He's not back to the level he wants to be at." We've ruled Gallinari out for Saturday and Sunday, and he looks to be highly questionable in advance of Wednesday's contest. Wilson Chandler and Alonzo Gee will continue to see extended run on the wing for however long he remains sidelined.
12/10/2014 12:34 PM
Out Left knee soreness Open link
Gallinari has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Heat as he is still experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee. He is considered day-to-day. "The guy was out 19 months," coach Brian Shaw said. "He's still experiencing a little bit of pain. He's not back to the level he wants to be at." Gallinari left a Nov. 28 loss due to the same issue, but didn't end up having to miss any further time. It's clear that he's far from 100 percent at this point, and Shaw has had to limit his playing time over the past few weeks as a result. Gallinari has played more than 20 minutes just once in his last seven games and has been mostly ineffective when he's been on the court as well. Wilson Chandler and Alonzo Gee will see extended run on the wing for at least one game in his absence.
12/5/2014 10:25 AM
Probable Illness Open link
Gallinari did not participate in morning shootaround due to an illness, but is expected to play Friday vs. the Wizards. We'll continue to update his status as needed just in case he doesn't feel better closer to tip-off and has to miss some time.
11/28/2014 12:36 PM
Active Left knee soress Open link
Gallinari said Friday that he's "fine" and will be active on Friday vs. the Suns. Gallinari left Wednesday's game after just nine minutes of playing time due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee and did not return. It was a troubling development and not a coincidence that the context was his participation in his second back-to-back of the season, having averaged 30 minutes in the two games prior. "It was the first time that we increased the minutes a little bit," said Gallinari. "The knee was not used to it for a while. So it got a little sore. But we were able to get treatment and so I'm going to be ready [Friday]." Gallinari's tenuous health means that Wilson Chandler will continue to start at small forward going forward.
11/26/2014 9:36 PM
Out Left knee soress Open link
Gallinari left Wednesday's game vs. the Suns due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee, and will not return. This is obviously concerning news, and it can hardly be considered a coincidence that the context was his participation in his second back-to-back of the season, having averaged 30 minutes in the two games prior. Wilson Chandler and Alonzo Gee will see the extended run on the wing in his absence, and we'll wait for further updates here.
11/17/2014 4:05 PM
Active Rest Open link
Gallinari and Nate Robinson are surprise actives for Monday's contest vs. the Cavs after previously being ruled out. Both appeared in Sunday's game vs. the Knicks, so they were expected to be unavailable for Monday's contest as they had yet to be cleared to play in back-to-backs, but coach Brian Shaw has opted to play the two on Monday anyways because they didn't play big minutes in Sunday's blowout loss (Gallinari 14, Robinson 10). Teammate JJ Hickson, who also appeared on Sunday, has been ruled out though as he works his way back from ACL surgery.
11/17/2014 10:15 AM
Out Rest Open link
Gallinari and Nate Robinson appeared in Sunday's game vs. the Knicks, so both will be unavailable for Monday's contest as they have yet to be cleared to play in back-to-backs. The two are working their way back to 100 percent from knee surgeries, and only recently had their minutes restrictions lifted. Gallinari's absence will open up more minutes for Arron Afflalo, Wilson Chandler, and Alonzo Gee on the wing, while Robinson's absence will mean more run for Ty Lawson and Gary Harris at the point. JJ Hickson (knee) also made an appearance on Sunday, putting his status for Monday's game into doubt as well. Coach Brian Shaw said, "We'll see," when asked about Hickson's status, but he's not expected to play either as he hasn't been cleared for back-to-backs following ACL surgery this year.
11/16/2014 12:55 PM
Doubtful Rest Open link
Gallinari and Nate Robinson both appeared in Sunday's game vs. the Knicks, so neither is likely to be available for Monday's contest as they have yet to be cleared to play in back-to-backs. The two are working their way back to 100 percent from knee surgeries, and only recently had their minutes restrictions lifted. Gallinari's absence would open up more minutes for Arron Afflalo, Wilson Chandler, and Alonzo Gee on the wing, while Robinson's absence would mean more run for Ty Lawson and Gary Harris at the point. JJ Hickson (knee) also made an appearance, putting his status for Monday's game into question as well.

Active Left knee surgeries Open link
Coach Brian Shaw said Gallinari and teammate Nate Robinson have not been cleared to play in back-to-backs, and that he hasn't made a decision yet on which games they'll play. The Nuggets have a back-to-back coming up on Sunday and Monday, so Gallinari and Robinson will both miss one of those two games. We'll continue to update their statuses once Shaw makes a decision on which game they'll sit out. Gallinari and Robinson are both working their way back to 100 percent from knee surgeries.
11/12/2014 1:09 PM
Active Left knee surgeries Open link
The Nuggets announced Wednesday that both Danilo Gallinari and Nate Robinson have both had their minutes restrictions lifted and have been cleared for full games. Gallinari has averaged 18.1 minutes through Wednesday's game vs. the Trail Blazers, so what remains to be seen is exactly how coach Brian Shaw scales up Gallinari, at the expected expense of Wilson Chandler. One welcome recent change was Shaw going with a 10-man rotation on Sunday, after playing as many as 12 players in early games.
10/10/2014 2:25 PM
Probable Left knee surgeries Open link
Gallinari and teammate Nate Robinson (knee) will play in Friday's preseason game at Phoenix and will be limited to 15 minutes each. Both have made good progress from their respective surgeries are on track to be ready to go for the season opener. This will be be Gallinari's first game action since tearing his ACL back in April 2013. Coach Brian Shaw has already named Gallo as the Nuggets' starting small forward, making him an intriguing pick with some upside late in drafts.

Injured Left knee surgeries Open link
Gallinari won't participate in Wednesday's preseason game vs. the Thunder, but the plan is for him to play on Friday vs. Phoenix. Both JJ Hickson (knee) and Nate Robinson (knee) also anticipate seeing their first game action of the preseason on Friday, and all three players are expected to be ready to go when the regular season begins, according to coach Brian Shaw.

Gallinari, JaVale McGee (leg), JJ Hickson (knee), and Nate Robinson (knee) will all sit out Monday's preseason opener vs. the Lakers as they recover from their injuries. The statuses of all four players will continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis as they make their back from their respective surgeries. We'll continue to update their statuses accordingly, but it's presumed for now that they will all be ready for the team's season opener.

Gallinari (along with Nate Robinson, JJ Hickson, and JaVale McGee) did not participate in the Nuggets' first practice of training camp Tuesday morning. Coach Brian Shaw outlined his plan for all four with the hope that they'll be ready for the season opener. Gallinari and Robinson will participate in Tuesday evening's non-contact segment of practice, while Hickson and McGee take the day off. "The way we're kind of trying to proceed is two of them will do one practice a day, the other two will be completely off," Shaw said. "Tomorrow (Wednesday), JaVale and J.J. will do as much as they can do in one of the two practices, and Nate and Gallo will be off. And we'll monitor how they respond, if there's any swelling or anything and just try to work them slowly in, doing it that way."

Injured Left knee surgeries Open link
Gallinari said Thursday that he's past the mental hurdles as he returns from two left knee surgeries and over a year removed from the game. He added that he's happy with how the knee has responded as he's incrementally increased his workload, that he'll be close to participating in all aspects of practice when training camp opens next week, and he anticipates being active for the Nuggets' first preseason game (October 6). "I'm not at the same level that I left basketball because I haven't played a game in a while. The more I will play games the better I will feel." Gallinari is a low-risk selection given that he can be had in the later rounds of drafts, but overall expectations for return on investment should still be kept in check, considering the nature and frequency of his injuries and his extended layoff.
