Rubio didn't travel with the Timberwolves on their road trip and will be out for their final two games of the trip. Coach Thibodeau said the team will have a better idea of Rubio's recovery once the team returns home and practices. It sounds like we could get another update after practice on Thursday or Friday.

Even prior to tonight he wasn't as dire as some users were making it seem imo. Definitely wasn't in full Tricky Ricky mode, but the Wolves as a whole weren't ballin. And even with that, he's still been giving us what we all drafted him for (with hits in the areas we all expected).

Rubio could have had 20 assists last night but no one on Minny can catch and shoot. They all catch it wide open and look to dribble. And when they do shoot, they shot 10% off his passes. Tibs gave him 40 minutes and free reign last nite so things may get much better.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that the Dumb A** GM David Kahn drafted Rubio and Johnny Flynn @ #5 and #6 as I screamed at the TV to pick a undersized point guard out of Davidson that just won back to back MVP's. And yes I have been a bitter T-wolves fan ever since.

Rubio in his best season was not top 50 guy in a 5 cat league. Thibs is choosing T Jones in the 4th Q over Rubio recently. He looks lost or disinterested in Thibs system. He should be running the floor throwing lobs to Lavine and Wiggins all game long and all they do is walk it up and run some garbage play that gets a tough one on one shot. His best season is about 10pts 4 reb 9 ast 2 stl

Laynej3 I can't fathom how Rubio isn't already owned in a 5 cat league like that. Absolutely pick him up. What he's producing now is likely his floor for the season. Whereas if he gets traded or turns it around, his ceiling could be a top 25 player in your league.

I think his value is going to plummet under Thibodeau. Forget the minutes, he will average closer to 8 assists per 36 if he continues to be used like this. And how many teams might actually be in the market for a starting PG anyway? Two or three? SAC, DEN, ... He'll be a backup if he's traded, no? How about Collison for Rubio?

Hard to imagine Rubio being the one traded right now. They'd have to be getting a PG back and it's hard to see who they'd partner with. I think it was on one of the Truehoop pods last week they were trying to come up with a scenario and Jameer Nelson was they best they could come up with :/

Thibs system seems tough for MIN PGs, Dunn isn't looking like the player we thought he would be his 1st year...however, that is the good news for Rubio, I see him keep on playing 30 mins p/g minimum. The team as a whole is not playing good, and im guessing Thibs knows that they are going to need a strong Rubio in order to climb up the standings

So when do the Wolves really start thinking about trading him. He isn't fitting the Thib system. Doesn't look like the player we all know. I had high hopes for him this year too. Oops
12.4d
NBAisRigged
Rubio does not fit Thibodeau's offensive system and is not being put in a position to succeed. Thibs is all about Wiggins and is putting the ball in his hands. Rubio's usage and minutes are in jeopardy. Tyus Jones has closed out the last two games. Thibodeau should have just traded Rubio on draft night if he was going to use him like this. Rubio feeds Wiggins and goes to stand in the corner.

I watched a decent amount of the game, and he could have had a couple more ast easily with guys making a couple more jump shots, and he was close to at least 2 more steals on D. However, I'm somewhat worried because their offense just looks awk the last few games. Guys are moving, the ball moves around, but then it feels like after 3-4 passes it just turns into Wiggo, KAT, or sometimes Lavine iso. They aren't generating many easy buckets.

Pretty sure Rubio is gonna be the starter when he returns. Gotta think if MIN is ready to give the job to Dunn then they're going to want to get Rubio minutes to get his stock up for a Winter deal. This trade feels weird because Parker is sputtering a little to start the season, and the Magic have looked bad, but as long as Dunn's value is only temporary, it sounds like you made a reasonable trade that has some upside. If you have a quick look at his injury history they have been injuries that have happened completely due to bad luck. Injuries any player could get if they in the wrong place at the wrong time. He doesn’t miss games here or there with small injuries like some players. He doesn’t have any recurring injury that could flare up at any time. That's what I would classify as flat-out fragile. Over that 5 year span you talked about, he had a period where he played 150+ games in a row, before succumbing to a fluke injury. I really doubt a flat out fragile guy would've done that... He is just an extremely unlucky player in my opinion.
40.2d
webslinger48
0% (3) agree
The majority opinion on Rubio is that he has been the unfortunate recipient of fluke injuries. Fact: Rubio has only played more than 60 games in two of the last five seasons. Some guys are just brittle. The jury is still out on this particular injury but the track record is not promising. If he ends up missing extended time due to the elbow, I believe that the narrative on Rubio moves on from him bieng unlucky to flat-out fragile. This is more than just a random occurance, in my opinion.

He has had two injuries in his career. A torn ACL, which accounts for the missed games in his first and second season and a torn ankle ligament which accounted for the games missed in year 4. He hasn't been injury prone, nor has he been someone who has suffered any wear and tear injuries in his career.

Projecting Rubio to play 78 games given his last five seasons (76-22-82-57-41)) is more than a little optimistic, don't you think? If Thibodeau ups his minutes, as projected, a breakdown would seem as likely as not....

With the bulk of Rubio's value coming from 2 categories, is anyone worried that the development of Kris Dunn may take assist/steal opportunities away from Rubio? If his value dips in those categories he will be tougher than usual to fit into your roster.
