Just need some playoff advice here. 14 team, 1st round and outgamed. Zeller only has 1 more playable game for me (Sat). I could drop him, which I really didn't want to do, and pickup Levert to pick up games on Tues and Thurs, then try to pick Zeller back up or stream someone else for Sat (or bring back Noel off my IR). Sorry to post this here, but kinda time sensitive. Thanks guys. Stream Levert (UP), keep Zeller (DOWN).

@strang221 - I like Zeller over JVal assuming he can stay healthy. I might go Nurkic over JV if you are looking for more blocks and steals, knowing that Nurkic shoots worse FT and higher TOs. Im thinking of dropping JV or Kidd-Ghilcrest for Zeller myself.

When you have a bad bruise, it can make you move differently, and if an NBA player is out there trying to compensate for pain in one place by putting more pressure on another part of his body, they can create another injury. It's frustrating that Zeller has been day-to-day for so long, but the report of his injury was (if I remember correctly) that there was significant bruising up and down his leg. It wasn't a minor thing, and he did try to come back and simply couldn't. Maybe one positive thing to consider about the injury is that it shouldn't be an issue going forward once he does return this time.
177.6d
rybing99
0% (1) agree
You cannot possibly equate a bruise to any kind of strain, pull, tear or break. If he is dealing with something else then the team should be upfront about it. A bruise is a pain tolerance thing. I guess I am frustrated because he keeps getting labeled as next game, next game. If he is out for two weeks I get it. I am also frustrated because each time I have grabbed him he has gone down with and injury.

This guy rybing9922 is the epitome of seeing NBA players as only assets/property and forgetting they're real people. I used to be the same way, when I was 13. After trying to play through herniated discs and back spasms for years then finally getting surgery for it, I gained a new respect for guys who play through injury and understand when guys can't.

He's becoming Derrick Favors II. Had Favors last year and for a month the dude was a game time decision. Ended up missing something like 15 straight games. I picked him up now for the third time. I'm hurting in rebs this week (this week is a two week period of last week and this one). Playing three games - or so I thought. Maybe I am wrong here, but a bruise isn't a tear, pull or sprain injury. It is a pain tolerance one.

That's the thing about concussions - there's never a timetable. Each is unique, and can vary in recovery time, which cannot be predicted. The only gauge is monitoring the athlete's progression through the stages of tests to return. I dropped Cody immediately due to this in a 10 team, and will pick him back up whenever he's finally cleared.

Do we have any idea what the timetable is for Zeller's concussion? Could this theoretically last as long as Horford's concussion did? (Or put another way - is there anything suggesting this this is less serious that Horford's?)

His FT% caps him at around top-150. Once that normalize back up, he'll be capped at around top-100 by his low usage. Unless he can get more than 7 FGA, he can't move up. I just done see where the usage would come from when sharing the court with Kemba and Batum. MKG and Marvin are not low usage guys either.

His ceiling isn't capped by his low usage, it's his current FT% and the fact that he averages less than 27 minutes. He's been playing more, but his fouling is another consideration. Also, a lot of his value right now is coming from his high FG%, something that wouldn't be helped by higher usage.

the FT% has been an anchor(in a bad way) to his ranking, his other stats are solid and trending up. He can't keep shooting 50-60% after shooting 75-77% the past two seasons...can he? Deciding between him and Tyler Johnson.

Depends on your team I think.... Zeller has discrete value as a Center with good percentages, which can be helpful. JaMychal seems to fill it up generally when he plays. I used him last year towards the end... if I recall at times he was super productive with overall counting stats. I own both but would keep Zeller if I had to choose... any uptick in his production puts him in last year Robin Lopez territory.
