Active Sore jaw Open link
Carter-Williams returned to Thursday's game after leaving early in the first quarter with a sore lower jaw. He suffered the injury when he took a shot to the chin from Mike Dunleavy on a drive to the basket. Carter-Williams was examined in the locker room, but the Bucks found nothing of concern beyond soreness and he was back out on the court towards the end of the first quarter.

Active Sprained right ankle Open link
Carter-Williams said Wednesday that his sprained right ankle is "a little bit tight," but added that it's "nothing too serious" and that he'll be "good to go" for Game 6 vs. the Bulls on Thursday. He returned to Monday's win after heading to the locker room midway through the third quarter with the injury, which he suffered during a rebound attempt after landing on the foot of Mike Dunleavy. Carter-Williams looked to be in a good amount of pain as he limped off the court but did not appear to be limited after he returned, and it's worth noting that he played all 12 minutes of the fourth quarter.

Carter-Williams was not present for morning shootaround due to a death in the family but is expected to arrive in time to play on Monday vs. the Hawks, according to coach Jason Kidd. We'll continue to update his availability as information allows, and Jerryd Bayless and Tyler Ennis would see the run at point guard if his status changes in the interim.

Active Right ankle soreness Open link
Carter-Williams will return to the lineup on Tuesday vs. the Pelicans, as expected, after being a late scratch on Saturday due to right ankle soreness. He said he tried to play but his ankle wasn't feeling right, so he ended up taking the night off to get it right. Carter-Williams first started dealing with the ankle injury during last Wednesday's win and played through it on Thursday. His return will push Tyler Ennis back to a limited reserve role, and cut into the minutes of Jerryd Bayless (ankle, questionable) as well.

Probable Right ankle soreness Open link
Carter-Williams did not practice on Monday but said he expects to play on Tuesday vs. the Pelicans. He was a late scratch on Saturday due to right ankle soreness, and said he tried to go but his ankle wasn't feeling right. Carter-Williams added that he initially injured it back during Wednesday's win and played through it on Thursday. It doesn't look like this will cost him any more time, but it would be Tyler Ennis and Jerryd Bayless (ankle, questionable) handling the minutes at the point if Carter-Williams does end up being held out on Tuesday.

Out Right ankle soreness Open link
Carter-Williams was a late scratch for Saturday's game vs. the Grizzlies due to right ankle soreness. This one came out of nowhere as there had been no reports coming in that he was dealing with an ankle issue of any kind. Carter-Williams warmed up twice and got his ankle re-taped to see if he could go before eventually being ruled out. Tyler Ennis will get the start at the point in his place, with Giannis Antetokounmpo likely to see some time there as well with Jerryd Bayless (ankle) still sidelined.

Active Strained right big toe Open link
Carter-Williams will make his Bucks debut on Wednesday vs. the 76ers, as expected. He has missed the past five games due to a strained right big toe and it was expected that he would miss more time beyond Monday, but he has some extra motivation here to play against his former team. Carter-Williams' presence will cut into the minutes of Jerryd Bayless at the point and likely push Tyler Ennis out of the rotation entirely.

Probable Strained right big toe Open link
Carter-Williams has officially been upgraded to probable for Wednesday's game vs. the 76ers. He was optimistic about a return on Monday night, saying "I'll be playing next game" after the Bucks' loss to the Bulls, and it appears that he made it through a Tuesday workout with no issues. Carter-Williams has missed the past five games due to a strained right big toe and it was expected that he would miss more time beyond Monday, but he has some extra motivation here to play against his former team. His presence will cut into the minutes of Jerryd Bayless at the point and likely push Tyler Ennis out of the rotation entirely.

Injured Strained right big toe Open link
Carter-Williams has been ruled out for Monday's game, as expected, due to his strained right big toe. He was able to get some on-court work in on Saturday, but coach Jason Kidd remains unsure when he'll be able to debut for the Bucks. The injury sidelined Carter-Williams for three games leading up to the All-Star break, and he still couldn't practice with the 76ers in the days leading up to Thursday's trade, so there is some concern given how long it has lingered. It's likely that he'll sit out on Wednesday as well given the lack of available practice time with his new teammates. Jerryd Bayless and Tyler Ennis will continue to see the run at point guard for the Bucks for however long Carter-Williams remains sidelined.

Injured Strained right big toe Open link
Carter-Williams is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Hawks, although he's not expected to play for at least a few more games as he continues to deal with his strained right big toe. He was able to get some on-court work in on Saturday, but coach Jason Kidd remains unsure when he'll be able to debut for the Bucks. The injury sidelined him for three games leading up to the All-Star break, and he still couldn't practice with the 76ers in the days leading up to Thursday's trade, so there is some concern given how long it has lingered. The Bucks play three games in four days starting on Sunday, and it's likely Carter-Williams will miss all three given the injury and a lack of available practice time with his new teammates. Jerryd Bayless and Tyler Ennis will see the run at point guard for the Bucks for however long he remains sidelined.

Injured Strained right big toe Open link
Coach Brett Brown said Carter-Williams will be out for a "few games" as he continues to deal with a right big toe injury. He didn't practice on Wednesday, and just rode the stationary bike during practice on Thursday. The strained toe has sidelined Carter-Williams for the past three games before the All-Star break, and is starting to become a big concern given how long it's lingered."It is a surprise," coach Brett Brown said on Wednesday of Carter-Williams' not being able to practice. "I am glad to hear the truth — if it is sore, it's sore. We will deal with it. I was not expecting to hear that news." Carter-Williams has been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with a bruised right shin, sprained left ankle, and a sore right foot recently. Brown added that the team "will, for sure, get another point guard" for Friday, and whoever that is will likely handle the point guard duties along with JaKarr Sampson in Carter-Williams' place.

Doubtful Strained right big toe Open link
Carter-Williams didn't practice on Wednesday, instead opting to receive treatment on his right big toe injury that kept him out of the last three games before the All-Star break and also sidelined him for the Rising Stars game. "It is a surprise," coach Brett Brown said of Carter-Williams' not being able to practice. "I am glad to hear the truth — if it is sore, it's sore. We will deal with it. I was not expecting to hear that news." Carter-Williams has been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with a bruised right shin, sprained left ankle, and a sore right foot recently. At this point we're considering him doubtful in advance of Friday's contest vs. the Pacers, especially with Brown adding that the team "will, for sure, get another point guard" for Friday. Whoever that is will likely handle the point guard duties along with JaKarr Sampson in Carter-Williams' place.

Carter-Williams has officially been ruled out for Monday's game vs. the Warriors due to soreness in his right foot. Coach Brett Brown said that his foot is improving, but he's not yet feeling good enough to play. Carter-Williams has been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with a bruised right shin and sprained left ankle within the past week, and he first felt the soreness in his foot during Tuesday's win over the Nuggets. Tim Frazier will get another start at point guard with Carter-Williams out again on Monday, with JaKarr Sampson and Luc Mbah a Moute serving as his backups.

Doubtful Sore right foot Open link
Carter-Williams is listed as out in the 76ers' game notes for Monday's game vs. the Warriors due to soreness in his right foot. We're still waiting for an official update of his status, but it makes sense that the team wouldn't push him to play in what is expected to be a blowout loss. Carter-Williams has been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with a bruised right shin and sprained left ankle within the past week, and he first felt the soreness in his foot during Tuesday's win over the Nuggets. Tim Frazier would get another start at point guard if Carter-Williams is declared out again on Monday, with JaKarr Sampson and Luc Mbah a Moute serving as his backups.

Carter-Williams has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Celtics due to soreness in his right foot. Coach Brett Brown said that he'll be a game-time decision for the second leg of the team's back-to-back on Saturday, but that he'd be "surprised" if he were able to play. Carter-Williams has been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with bruised right shin and sprained left ankle within the past week, and he first felt the soreness in his foot during Tuesday's win over the Nuggets. JaKarr Sampson will start at the point in MCW's place on Friday, with KJ McDaniels and Tim Frazier also seeing additional run in the backcourt.

Questionable Sore right foot Open link
Carter-Williams is dealing with soreness in his right foot and will be a game-time decision for Friday's contest vs. the Celtics. He's been a bit banged up lately, having also dealt with bruised right shin and sprained left ankle within the past week, and he first felt the soreness in his foot during Tuesday's win over the Nuggets. If Carter-Williams can't play, then it would mean a start at the point for Tim Frazier, who was just signed to a 10-day contract out of the D-League on Thursday. JaKarr Sampson would also see additional run as Frazier's backup.
2/3/2015 4:29 PM
Active Right shin, left ankle
Carter-Williams will play on Tuesday vs. the Nuggets, though coach Brett Brown said that he will continue to monitor his status throughout the game. He was bothered by a right shin contusion and sprained left ankle during Monday's loss, which is the reason why he didn't play at all during the fourth quarter. Carter-Williams suffered both injuries during Saturday's loss the Hawks, and Brown added that his shin in particular was the reason he struggled on Monday (1-9 FG).

Questionable Right shin, left ankle Open link
Coach Brett Brown said after Monday's game that Carter-Williams played through a right shin contusion and sprained left ankle, and the injuries were the reason he didn't play during the fourth quarter. His status for the second game of the back-to-back on Tuesday is uncertain at this point. Carter-Williams suffered both injuries during Saturday's loss the Hawks, and Brown added that his shin in particular was the reason he struggled on Monday (1-9 FG). Larry Drew and JaKarr Sampson would see the run at the point for the 76ers if Carter-Williams were to miss any time.

Active Sprained left ankle Open link
Carter-Williams returned to Saturday's game after a brief trip to the locker room to get his sprained left ankle re-taped. He was walking under his own power, and this doesn't appear to be an issue that will cause him any problems moving forward.

Active Illness Open link
Carter-Williams participated in shootaround and will return to the starting lineup on Wednesday vs. the Pistons after a one-game absence due to illness. His presence will push Larry Drew II back to a more limited reserve role.

Carter-Williams has been ruled out for Monday's game vs. the Pelicans due to illness. Larry Drew II, who was just signed to a second 10-day contract, will start in his place with JaKarr Sampson and KJ McDaniels serving as the Sixers' de facto backup point guards.

Active Right shoulder Open link
Carter-Williams will return to the lineup for Monday's contest vs. the Cavs after a one-game absence. He aggravated his right shoulder during Friday's loss, and was held out on Saturday as a precaution. It doesn't look like it'll cause MCW to miss any more time, but we'll keep an eye on his shoulder regardless given it's the same one he had off-season surgery on and caused him to miss the first seven games of the season. Tony Wroten will return to a more limited reserve role.

Out Right shoulder Open link
Carter-Williams has been ruled out on Saturday after aggravating his right shoulder during Friday's loss to the Suns. The good news is that it's being called a precautionary move, and Carter-Williams doesn't expect to miss more time. "Nothing severe," said Carter-Williams. "I just need to get treatment and get ready for Monday." Coach Brett Brown also had a similar tone. "He aggravated his shoulder last night and has woken up extremely sore," said Brown. "We have 18 games in 31 days coming up, and we just felt like the responsible thing to do was sit him tonight." We'll assume Carter-Williams is indeed day-to-day going forward and look for further updates on his status. Tony Wroten drew the start on Saturday with Carter-Williams unavailable.

Carter-Williams practiced with the 76ers on Monday and Tuesday and will make his season debut on Thursday vs. the Mavs. Coach Brett Brown said that he doesn't expect MCW to play a lot of minutes immediately upon his return, but added that having MCW (and Noel) in the Monday practice session was "fantastic," and Noel said that he's "ecstatic" about the opportunity to play alongside MCW. Tony Wroten will continue to start at the point if MCW isn't immediately added to the starting five, and coach Brett Brown hasn't dismissed the possibility of Wroten eventually moving to the starting spot at shooting guard.

Carter-Williams practiced with the 76ers on Monday and is expected to make his season debut on Thursday vs. the Mavs. Coach Brett Brown has yet to settle on a starting five, and it also remains a possibility that MCW will be on a minutes restriction to start, but Brown said having MCW (and Noel) in the Monday practice was "fantastic," and Noel added that he's "ecstatic" about the opportunity to play alongside MCW. Tony Wroten will continue to start at the point if MCW isn't immediately added to the starting five, and coach Brett Brown hasn't dismissed the possibility of Wroten moving to the starting spot at shooting guard.

Carter-Williams is still set to scrimmage for the first time during Thursday's practice, and is now targeting Nov. 13 as a return date for his season debut. We'll continue to monitor his status over the coming week and provide relevant updates as needed, but it looks like his long-awaited return is nearing. Tony Wroten will continue to start at the point for the next week or so and is likely to return to a sixth man role when MCW is ready to play, though coach Brett Brown is considering starting Wroten at the off-guard and moving Luc Mbah a Moute to power forward.

Coach Brett Brown said that the plan is still for Carter-Williams to scrimmage for the first time during Thursday's practice. He remains without a specific target date for a return, but Brown added that barring a setback, he doesn't expect MCW to take too long to be ready to play. Carter-Williams would need to get a few practices in before returning to game action, but it appears he's on track to make his season debut around mid-November. We'll continue to monitor his status over the coming weeks and provide relevant updates as needed. Tony Wroten will continue to start at the point for however long MCW is sidelined for, with Alexey Shved seeing additional run off the bench.

The 76ers announced on Saturday that Carter-Williams is "on pace" to return to full-contact practice work in just under two weeks, on Nov. 6. MCW would then need to participate in at least a few practices before he'd return to game action, but coach Brett Brown said "I believe that it's not going to take long to play him" in regards to his subsequent return to the active roster. Keep in mind that we're still just dealing with target dates, but this news certainly bodes well for MCW not missing a significant portion of the start of the season. We'll keep monitoring his status over the coming weeks. Tony Wroten will open the season as the 76ers' starting point guard, with the newly-acquired Marquis Teague in line to back him up.

Injured Right shoulder surgery Open link
Carter-Williams and the 76ers have set a target return date of Nov. 13, according to an ESPN report and based on information from "a source close to the situation." It's reasonable to be skeptical of reports from unnamed sources, but mid-November would be six months into his expected six-to-nine month timetable. The 76ers have no motivation to rush him back from injury before he's completely recovered, however, given their focus beyond the current season. MCW said himself earlier that he doesn't know a timeframe for his return, so there's certainly remains a possibility that he'll be out well past mid-November. Tony Wroten would fill in for MCW at the point if that was the case and see a big increase in minutes and usage (though his huge efficiency drains will still keep him from standard-league relevance).
10/21/2014 1:43 PM
Injured Right shoulder surgery Open link
Coach Brett Brown did not have any real update on Carter-Williams after Tuesday's practice, and said he still isn't participating in any drills or scrimmaging with contact. It's almost a guarantee at this point that MCW will not be ready for the season opener given he still isn't taking contact and has sat out all of training camp and preseason. He's currently just five months into a six-to-nine month timetable from labrum surgery, and there's major DNP potential here as the tanking Sixers have little incentive to rush him back. MCW said himself earlier that he doesn't know a timeframe for his return, so there's certainly a possibility that he could miss significant time. Tony Wroten would fill in for MCW at the point if that was the case and see a big increase in minutes and usage (though his huge efficiency drains will still keep him from standard-league relevance).
10/13/2014 1:36 PM

Carter-Williams says he feels "unbelievable" and is doing everything short of scrimmaging right now. He also clarified that contrary to the timetable of two-to-four months that was released by the Sixers after he underwent surgery in early May to repair the labrum in his shoulder, he was actually projected to be out six-to-nine months instead. MCW is currently a little more than five months into that timetable so he's still ahead of schedule, but given that, it's fair to question whether he'll be ready in time for the season opener. He said himself that he doesn't know a timeframe for his return, so there's certainly a possibility that he could miss some time; Tony Wroten would fill in for MCW at the point if that was the case. We'll keep a close eye on his status in the upcoming weeks.

Injured Right shoulder surgery Open link
Coach Brett Brown said Carter-Williams is "... still a few weeks away (from scrimmaging", and that "we haven't completely wrapped (him) up in cotton wool but almost." This is a bit concerning considering MCW hasn't really done much of anything outside of rehab this off-season, and he's still not all the way back yet from the surgery he underwent in early May to repair the labrum in his shoulder. The recovery time for a torn labrum is usually two-to-four months, and he's well past that now as he's now entering his sixth month. It may be time to at least be somewhat concerned about MCW's availability for the season opener given his lack of progress. Tony Wroten would fill in at the point if he ended up having to miss any time. We'll keep a close eye on his status in the upcoming weeks.
9/25/2014 3:23 PM
Injured Right shoulder surgery Open link
Coach Brett Brown said that Carter-Williams will not be ready to start preseason games as he continues to rehab from off-season shoulder surgery. He had the surgery back in early May to repair the labrum in his shoulder and has been making good progress. The recovery time for a torn labrum is usually two-to-four months, and he's well past that now with this being his fifth month. This move seems more precautionary than anything, and shouldn't put his status for the start of the 2014-15 season into question.
