Welcome back to Basketball Monster. Here’s what’s available now, including what’s new:

Josh Lloyd’s opening Full Season Projections
Updated interface with a new Dark Mode (still a work in progress, but most pages have been updated). Also, there's a new Favorites bar where you can link your preferred pages for easy access.
Draft Monster and Draft Tracker are fully functional. Yahoo! is not yet open, so there’s no connection available. ESPN, Fantrax, and the other major platforms appear ready.
Depth Charts now reflect Josh’s projections
Schedule Grid has the full NBA season loaded (the NBA Cup week still needs final adjustment)
Analysis Monster and Trade Monster are ready to use.

Bonus Projection Set – A second full-season / rest-of-season projection set managed by the admin team with analyst support. It gives you an independent second opinion alongside Josh Lloyd’s projections. Available by the end of August — and now included with the basic membership (no Super Monster upgrade required).

@#29280 - On most pages, you can expand the display columns section and add last season's rankings along with many others. Let me know if you have any questions. For Punt weight, we'll get those added back in.

@ken_admin - Yes, I think I joined around 2005, a little over 20 years ago. The reason I came aboard was because of your work and solid reputation. I was attracted to your site back then because your data was already the reference source cited by most writers for both fantasy and real-life basketball -- still is today.

@t0087669 - You can build a team to analyze under Tools/Team Analysis, or if you want something more permanent, you can build a team under Settings/Team Players.

The new UI looks great. Last year you guys added in a "Don't Use Bench" feature to Analysis Monster for those of us in Draft Only DMD leagues. Is that feature back? If not, any chance it could be added? Thank you!

Under Standings, you should be able to select "For Standings, Don't Use Bench". Is that showing for you?

happy to be back for another year. quick question, on the player pages, i recall there used to be an option to show more prior seasons than just the default (for per game averages). i can't seem to find that anymore, is it gone?

Hey Ken,

Site looks great. Is there anyway to set a different default sort option for the Projections page? I'd like the page to sort by DURANT or DURANT$ when I click on the Projections link without having to then click on the DUR or DUR$ links. The feature would allow any user to sort per the display and value column options. Thanks,

We'll be allowing you to set a default Value source which you can set to DURANT. Then it will sort by that when entering. Will that solve it?

When I export from the Player Rankings page, both the per game statistics and the z-scores are exported. When I export from the Projections page, only the per game stats are exported, not the DURANT values. Is that something you can add?

I'm not sure what you mean. We estimate $ values based on your settings, and as you mentioned, the BZ with $ can be helpful.

Re: the excel export. Yes, exporting to Excel. My DURANT values don't export. Stats per game do and value does, but not DURANT value. Tried on Chrome and Edge.

When I open your league, go to Projections, and export to Excel, I do see those columns:

I am able export and see what you have pasted below, but I do not see DpV, D3V, DaV, etc. I do not see the specific DURANT z-scores or values for each of my league's specific categories when I export to excel, either as an xlsx file or a csv file.

Is there a breakdown of the QG by team by week in any of the pages? The only mention of it I see is on the top of the schedule grid in the tools tab. Thanks team!

There isn't, but I would honestly place no weight on QG in drafting. QG is important in seasons when streaming, but the difference over the course of a season between teams is so small that it shouldn't really factor into draft decisions.

First of all, thank you for another great season of Basketball Monster!

I have a quick question: would it be possible to bring back the Custom Projections button on the player pages? I really enjoyed that feature as part of my Basketball Monster subscription.

Also, it would be great if, within Custom Projections, you could once again copy Josh’s BBM Projection with just one click. I found that very convenient!

For the players' pages, I'm not able to see the totals or per-36 m stats and z-scores, only the per-game. If you toggle them, it just defaults to per game.

Also, I miss the jump to the team depth chart from the player page... Is there any way we can get that back?

You may need to click "Show All Select Data" to see those. We'll get the depth chart links back in there.

On my Projections page, it seems that both the "Export to Excel" button and the "Export to CSV" button cause an XLS file to be produced. Could you look into updating this so that a CSV file is created by the second button? Thanks!

I thought the "show all" buttons on the player pages were just a temporary measure during the season to allow them to load.

Are you not fixing the underlying issue with data loading on these pages?

For the "show all", yes this was done for performance, and we'll come up with a better solution than the "show all".

Incredible source of information, statistics, intelligence and guidance but this new version is like perfuming shit. A bit better UI that doesn't change a terrible UX. Anyway, thanks for at least doing that.

Let's say I have Giannis and punting FT, what should the weight be in the box and how does it work? Also I have total games value selected for H2H 9 CAT league, I have it sorted with Durant H2H- I have Embiid 9th, Curry 10 and Durant 11- is this correct? Thanks

The DURANT Values are per-game values which is why some of the lower game players are ranked higher. Its weights are also built in. The Total Games Value only affects the Value column along with the category weights. Josh describes the DURANT weights here: https://basketballmonster.com/article.aspx?article=2310

In my games cap, roto league, steals and 3's are easy to stream in the 2nd half of the season (plentiful on the waiver wire) and FT% doesn't correlate well from year to year. Using DURANT, would it still make sense to weight these categories slightly less, 0.9, than the other categories? Or does DURANT yield more realistic results when the categories are weighted evenly?

In the UI, it seems I've lost my indicators of what are new User Comments (unread). I see them for new Polls, but not for comments. Am I missing a setting somewhere @ken_admin

I'm refreshing my rosters in my dynasty league, but it doesn't seem to be loading the rookies into the teams. There are also players on teams that have been added / dropped during the off season, but it's not loading onto the team rosters either. Seems to be stuck on last years rosters.

Doesn't seem to solve the issue. I tried Deleting rosters, and then reloading rosters. Didn't work.

I deleted the whole league and added it back. Rosters seem to load accurately now. But now, even though the rosters load (18+ per team), Analysis Monster seems to be only factoring in 15 players or so.

Really frustrating, especially as I'm having to build the whole league back over in the settings, dashboards, etc.

For Analysis Monster, it looks like you have some IR players so it won't include all players otherwise you'll be analyzing too many.

Question for Ken.

Is it possible to highlight the cells that are not white (like value) on projection page? I use a phone to check bbm (except for my drafts) and when I select the entire row for a specific player on the projection page, only white cells get highlighted. I need to scroll to the right to check the value columns and i can't remember which row to look since it is not highlighted.

Yes, the highlight doesn't show on cells that we have colored. Maybe we can alter the border also which would solve it. I'll see what we can do.

Hi Ken, I usually use draft monster but sometimes I Like to compare results with draft tracker. But now this Part „CompletedStandings update at the end of each round with the higher ranked players being used first“ disappeared. So i can see my team but not comparison to the other teams. Can you help?

In Trade Monster, I'm selecting two players on Team 1 and then checking Find Free Agents, but it keeps giving me results for one drop only.

Does anyone know how to add custom categories to my Yahoo league? AI tells me that Yahoo has a category for 'TO's per game' (rather than TO's), but you need to be in a 'Rotisserie Custom' league to see the full set of categories.

The Case for Round Reversal:

I've been looking into the impact of higher picks in a normal snake draft. Was surprised at just how advantageous it is! (Happy for others to check the numbers my AI got me)

The top of the board is unusually steep, steeper than it's ever been, meaning the early picks have a big structural advantage. It's likely that the imbalance contributes to some teams giving up cos early pick teams get too far ahead. I'd argue that the draft advantages dilute as the season goes on and teams can catch up lost ground, but by then many are disheartened.

- Pick #1 has ~45% more total value than Pick #12
- Averaging Wemby/Jokić/SGA, the top 3 picks have ~29% more value than the bottom 3

I ran BM projections through AI to calculate how much each reversal format reduces the averaged advantage of top 3 players:

3rd‑round reversal: Cuts the advantage from ~29% → ~22%

3rd & 4th‑round reversal: Cuts the advantage in half → ~14.3%

Full reversal (Rounds 3–13): Reduces the advantage from ~29% → ~7%

A 29% advantage in a 100m dash would be like someone starting 71m from the finish!

Hey Josh, I was really disappointed to hear LOFB Bowl wont be happening this year. I cant find anything online and was wondering if Fantrax shared any info with you directly on what changed. I am in a few leagues with many European and Australian managers and I'm worried they might have issues next year.

I didnt say it won't be happening, I am just worried it may not. Basically, you can't use fantrax treasurer if you are outside the US or Canada. Which I am, so I can't use it.
