Active Hyperextended left elbow Open link
Duncan will be active and in the starting lineup for Thursday's game vs. the Cavs, as expected. He hyperextended his left elbow during the final minute of Tuesday's win, but coach Gregg Popovich was quick to downplay the severity of the injury afterwards. Duncan suffered the injury after his elbow ended up connecting with Tiago Splitter's head after the two got tangled up. He clearly got the worst of it, and was seen clutching his elbow and flexing his arm afterwards in apparent discomfort, but it looks like he'll be good to go moving forward.

Probable Hyperextended left elbow Open link
Duncan is expected to play on Thursday vs. the Cavs after hyperextending his left elbow during the final minute of Tuesday's win. This doesn't exactly come as a surprise given coach Gregg Popovich was quick to downplay the severity of the injury afterwards. Duncan suffered the injury after his elbow ended up connecting with Tiago Splitter's head after the two got tangled up. He clearly got the worst of it, and was seen clutching his elbow and flexing his arm afterwards in apparent discomfort. We'll continue to update Duncan's status as needed, but this doesn't look like it'll cost him any time.

Questionable Hyperextended left elbow Open link
Duncan headed to the locker room during the final minute of Tuesday's win after suffering a hyperextended left elbow. He got tangled up with Tiago Splitter, and his elbow ended up connecting with Splitter's head. Duncan clearly got the worst of it, and was seen clutching his elbow and flexing his arm afterwards in apparent discomfort. We'll continue to update his status as needed ahead of Thursday's game vs. the Cavs, but coach Gregg Popovich said he thinks Duncan will be OK.
12/20/2014 12:21 PM
Out Rest Open link
Duncan and teammate Manu Ginobili have both been ruled out for Saturday's contest vs. the Mavs to rest after playing in their second triple-overtime game Friday in the span of three days. Duncan's absence will open up more minutes for Aron Baynes at center, while Ginobili's absence should mean heavy run for Marco Belinelli on the wing (and as the de facto backup point guard) with Danny Green unlikely to play heavy minutes.
12/15/2014 2:31 PM
Out Rest Open link
Duncan has been ruled out for Monday's contest vs. the Blazers to rest in the second game of a back-to-back. It makes sense as he played over 32 minutes in Sunday's win. With Duncan sidelined and Tiago Splitter (calf) ruled out, the Spurs will lean heavily on Aron Baynes, Boris Diaw, Matt Bonner, and Jeff Ayres in the frontcourt on Monday.
12/10/2014 7:05 PM
Out Rest Open link
Duncan will sit out Wednesday's game vs. the Knicks to rest. It makes sense given this is the second leg of a back-to-back, and he saw extended run in Tuesday's loss (36 minutes). Not to mention the Spurs will be facing a floundering Knicks side that will be without Carmelo Anthony (knee). Boris Diaw, Aron Baynes, Matt Bonner, Jeff Ayres, and Tiago Splitter will handle the majority of the frontcourt minutes for the Spurs with Duncan out.
12/10/2014 1:50 PM
Questionable Rest Open link
Duncan and teammate Manu Ginobili are listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Knicks as they could potentially be rested. It makes sense given this is the second leg of a back-to-back, and both saw extended run in Tuesday's loss (Duncan 36 minutes, Ginobili 28 minutes). We'll continue to update their statuses once coach Greg Popovich makes a decision either way. Danny Green and Marco Belinelli would see extended run at the off guard should Manu sit, while a combination of Boris Diaw, Aron Baynes, Matt Bonner, Jeff Ayres, and Tiago Splitter (probable) would fill in for Duncan.
12/6/2014 6:53 PM
Active Rest Open link
After mixed signals, the final status report for the Spurs on Saturday is that Tim Duncan will be active, while Tony Parker (hamstring) and Manu Ginobili (rest) will be held out vs. the Timberwolves. Coach Gregg Popovich had previously declared Duncan as out, "unless he beats me up when he comes in." Marco Belinelli will see some run as the backup point guard, behind Cory Jefferson, with both Parker and Manu out, and Austin Daye will also see additional run on the wing. Boris Diaw and Aron Baynes still figure to see a few additional minutes in the frontcourt, with Duncan unlikely to see his full complement of minutes.
12/1/2014 11:50 AM
Out Rest Open link
Duncan and Tony Parker will both be held out of Monday's game vs. the Sixers for rest reasons. With this being the second game of a back-to-back against the 0-17 Sixers, it makes sense for coach Greg Popovich to get his veterans some rest. Cory Joseph will likely draw the start at point guard in Parker's place, with Aron Baynes, Matt Bonner, and Jeff Ayres collectively absorbing Duncan's minutes in the frontcourt.
12/1/2014 10:36 AM
Questionable Rest Open link
Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili could be rested for Monday's game vs. the 0-17 Sixers on the second leg of a back-to-back. Duncan (24.7) and Ginobili (18.5) both saw limited minutes during what turned to be a blowout win over the Celtics on Sunday, with Duncan not playing at all in the fourth quarter (Parker logged 1:50 while Ginobili played 4:36). “I haven’t thought about it,” coach Gregg Popovich said when asked about whether he'd rest his Big 3 on Monday. Pop has opted to play the trio in these situations so far as long as they didn't play big minutes the game before, so as of now it appears more likely that they'll be active than not. Either way, don't expect Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili to see big minutes in this one even if they do suit up.
11/15/2014 8:26 PM
Active Rest Open link
Duncan and teammate Manu Ginobili will play in the second leg of a back-to-back on Saturday vs. the Kings. There was some concern that the pair would be rested, but they appeared more likely than not to play in this one given they were coming off a blowout win on Friday. Kawhi Leonard (face) will also play with a small band aid over his left eye after receiving five stitches earlier due to a facial laceration.
11/15/2014 10:15 AM
Probable Rest Open link
Duncan and teammate Manu Ginobili are not listed on the Spurs' latest injury report as possible rest candidates for the team's second leg of a back-to-back on Saturday. Such was the case on Tuesday vs. the Warriors when both ended up playing. What helps the likelihood that the pair will play is that they only played 25 minutes in Friday's blowout win over the Lakers, so they should be well rested heading into Saturday's matchup vs. the Kings. We'll continue to keep an eye on their status and provide any updates accordingly.
11/11/2014 8:53 PM
Active Rest Open link
Duncan will play and start in Tuesday's game vs. the Warriors. There was some concern coming in that he would sit out and rest with this being the second leg of a back-to-back, especially after he did so in the Spurs' first back-to-back of the season, but Duncan will be good to go as usual.
11/11/2014 3:14 PM
Questionable Rest Open link
The Spurs have officially listed Duncan and Manu Ginobili as questionable for Tuesday's game due to rest, with the team playing the second of a back-to-back. Both players were held out for the same reason during the Spurs' first back-to-back of the season, although coach Gregg Popovich has seemed to indicate after Monday's game that he'd everyone available vs. the Warriors, and the Spurs do have two days off after Tuesday's game. We'll have to wait for official word here on Duncan and Manu, but it's not likely to come until much closer to the 7:30pm PT tip.
11/6/2014 12:35 PM
Out Rest Open link
Duncan and teammate Manu Ginobili will both be held out of Thursday's game vs. the Rockets to rest. It is the second game of a back-to-back and of course a nationally-televised game, so coach Gregg Popovich has no issues holding his star players out to keep them fresh for the remainder of the regular season. Danny Green, Cory Joseph, Kawhi Leonard, Boris Diaw, Jeff Ayres, and Aron Baynes will all see heavy run in their place.
