DeRozan will play in Wednesday's season finale vs. the Hornets, as expected, after sitting out on Tuesday as a precaution for the purposes of rest. He tweaked his groin during Saturday's win after taking a hard fall and the Raptors didn't want to risk any sort of aggravation. "His groin is sore and didn't want to risk re-injuring it," coach Dwane Casey said. "If it'd been a playoff game he probably could have gone but I was going with the training staff and what they recommended to rest him, to not take a chance, get another day's rest." DeRozan will likely see reduced minutes on Wednesday in any case, and his return will take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, Greivis Vasquez, Terrence Ross, and James Johnson.

Active Torn adductor Open link
DeRozan will return to the Raptors' active roster for Wednesday's game vs. the 76ers after missing the past 21 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. Starters have yet to be announced and DeRozan will be on a minutes restriction initially. Scans and testing last week showed that DeRozan's groin was fully healed and he was medically cleared to return at the time, but he and the team wanted him to get a few more practice sessions in before making a return to the active roster. "The key thing with him is to come out, be himself, get the rust off the pipes, and let the chips fall where they may," said coach Dwane Casey. His return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

Questionable Torn adductor Open link
DeRozan is expected to return to the Raptors' active roster either Wednesday vs. the 76ers or Friday vs. the Hawks, according to coach Dwane Casey. Casey added that it will be up to the team's medical staff if he's cleared for Wednesday and that DeRozan will be on a minutes restriction initially. Scans and testing last week showed that DeRozan's groin was fully healed and he was medically cleared to return at the time, but he and the team wanted him to get a few more practice sessions in before making a return to the active roster. "I owe that to [my teammates] not to just jump back in the game," said DeRozan. "I want to get a couple more practices in and then make a comeback." He has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 21 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

DeRozan has been ruled out for Monday's contest vs. the Pistons, as expected, and his status is yet to be determined for Wednesday and Friday. He has been targeting a return sometime this week but remains without a definitive return date at this point. It seems more likely that he'll return on Friday as it doesn't make much sense for the Raptors to rush him back Wednesday vs. the Sixers. Coach Dwane Casey said DeRozan's body will dictate when he'll play, not how the team is playing. Scans and testing last week showed that DeRozan's groin is fully healed and he's medically cleared to return, but he and the team want him to get a few more practice sessions in before making a return to the active roster. "I owe that to [my teammates] not to just jump back in the game," said DeRozan. "I want to get a couple more practices in and then make a comeback." He has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 20 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His eventual return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely. Johnson will get the start in his place on Monday.

The Raptors did not have a formal practice on Friday, which only increases the odds that DeRozan sits out again on Saturday vs. the Celtics. He is targeting a return sometime next week, but remains without a definitive timetable at this point. Coach Dwane Casey said his body will dictate when he'll play, not how the team is playing, and indicated that DeRozan could be further off from playing than we think, Scans and testing earlier this week showed that DeRozan's groin is fully healed and he's medically cleared to return, but he and the team want him to get a few more practice sessions in before making a return to the active roster. "I owe that to [my teammates] not to just jump back in the game," said DeRozan. "I want to get a couple more practices in and then make a comeback." A Monday return seems unlikely at this point, though it will depend on his conditioning level during practices. DeRozan has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 19 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His eventual return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while likely pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

DeRozan won't play on Thursday vs. the Hornets and is unlikely to play on Saturday as well. Scans and testing on Tuesday showed that his groin is fully healed and he's medically cleared to return, but he and the team want him to get a few more practice sessions in before making a return to the active roster. "I owe that to [my teammates] not to just jump back in the game," said DeRozan. "I want to get a couple more practices in and then make a comeback." Monday could be a potential target for his return, but it will depend on his conditioning level during practices. DeRozan has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 18 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His eventual return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while likely pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

Questionable Torn adductor Open link
DeRozan skipped the Raptors' Tuesday practice in order to undergo scheduled scans and testing on his injured groin, but remains on track to return to the active roster as soon as Thursday's game vs. the Hornets. If not Thursday, then it's expected he'd return for Saturday's game vs. Boston. DeRozan has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 18 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while likely pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

DeRozan is slated to make his return to the lineup next Thursday vs. the Hornets, according to Yahoo! Sports. He has been ramping up his activity lately, putting in a full practice this past Thursday. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks during the Raptors' schedule practices on Tuesday and Wednesday, then he should remain on track for a Thursday return. DeRozan has been sidelined since Nov. 28 and has missed the past 17 games due to a tear of his left adductor longus tendon. His eventual return will re-shuffle the depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez, while likely pushing Landry Fields out of the rotation entirely.

DeRozan went through a full practice on Thursday and appears to be getting closer to a return, although he's not expected to play during the final two games of the team's current road trip (Friday and Sunday). The Raptors have three days off following Sunday's game, which is a good opportunity for DeRozan to get more practice time, and he could return to the active roster for next Thursday's home game vs. the Hornets, although we won't know his status prior to the team's scheduled practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. DeRozan has missed the past 16 games after suffering a tear of his left adductor longus tendon back on Nov. 28. His eventual return will re-shuffle the Raptors depth chart and take back minutes on the wing from Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez.

Injured Torn adductor Open link
There haven't been any substantive updates on DeRozan's recovery from a torn left adductor longus tendon over the past few weeks, but he's yet to return to team practices and appears unlikely to play during the Raptors' upcoming five-game road trip, which runs through Jan. 4. That would mean that DeRozan would miss another five games, with a Jan. 8 home game vs. the Bobcats a potential target for a return. We'll continue to look for updates here, and he remains week-to-week, with the Jan. 8 date matching the general expectations that he'd miss a total of six weeks. The average missed time for a groin strain reported as Grade 2 or higher is 19 games (roughly six weeks). Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez will continue to see additional run on the wing for as long as DeRozan remains sidelined.

DeRozan was seen shooting free throws on Thursday, but coach Dwane Casey said he is still a ways away from a return. "He can't move," Casey said. DeRozan managed to avoid a more serious avulsion injury and subsequent surgery, but is still looking at an extended timetable in his recovery from a torn left adductor longus tendon. He remains week-to-week, with the general expectation being that he'll miss closer to six weeks total. The average missed time for a groin strain reported as Grade 2 or higher at 19 games (roughly six weeks). Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez will continue to see heavy run on the wing in his absence.

DeRozan will not undergo surgery for his torn left adductor longus tendon. That's great news in that it means he avoided an avulsion injury, which would come with a much longer timetable that could've extended past eight weeks. DeRozan is now considered week-to-week, and the general expectation is that he'll be back somewhere around four-to-six weeks (though he remains without a definitive timetable). The average missed time for a groin strain reported as Grade 2 or higher at 19 games (roughly six weeks). DeRozan suffered the adductor tear during last Friday's loss after slipping and taking a hard fall during a drive to the basket. Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez will continue to see heavy run on the wing in his absence.

Recent tests revealed that DeRozan suffered a torn left adductor longus tendon, and there is no timetable for his return to basketball activity. We'll await word on whether he'll undergo surgery, but this injury should sideline for a few weeks at minimum (4-6 weeks is usually the preliminary timetable for an adductor tear). DeRozan said he's hoping to return in four weeks or less, and is scheduled to be re-evaluated next week. He suffered the adductor tear early in the third quarter of Friday's loss after slipping and taking a hard fall during a drive to the basket. Lou Williams, James Johnson, and Greivis Vasquez will all see heavy run on the wing in DeRozan's absence.

Questionable Strained left groin Open link
DeRozan is traveling with the Raptors on their three-game West Coast road trip, but his status for Sunday's contest vs. the Lakers remains unclear. DeRozan suffered a strained left groin early in the third quarter of Friday's game after slipping and taking a hard fall during a drive to the basket. He was down on the court for a while in obvious pain before eventually walking gingerly under his own power to the locker room, but did not return to the game. Lou Williams and Greivis Vasquez will see additional run on the wing if DeRozan isn't in the lineup on Sunday.
