Active Sore right knee Open link
Gibson exited Sunday's loss late in the fourth quarter after aggravating his sore right knee, but said afterwards that it's OK. He was seen grabbing at his knee twice after tweaking it, but was able to return for the game's final play to defend an inbound pass. This looks to just be a minor tweak that shouldn't affect Gibson's availability in any way for Game 5 vs. the Cavs on Tuesday.

He said afterwards that he is OK and should be ready for Game 2. We'll continue to update Gibson's status as needed, but this is a minor issue that shouldn't cost him any time.

Basically you’ve got to start all over again, just trying to strengthen it. There’s a lot of ice. But because the bones kind of hit and that’s real painful, so basically right now just trying to get the pain away from that area." Gibson has rejoined the Bulls as they near the end of their seven-game road trip, but he did not participate in the team's Thursday practice and his status for returning to game action remains unclear. It appears very doubtful that he'll return on Friday vs. the Celtics, although he's yet to be officially ruled out. Gibson is almost a week removed from his serious left ankle sprain, suffered when he stepped on Wes Matthews' foot this past Friday. What is worth noting is that this is the same ankle he sprained back on Oct. 31 vs. the Cavs, with Friday being the third time he's sprained it overall. Gibson said his left ankle has been bothering him for the past couple seasons, and he'll take the needed time off to get it right. Pau Gasol (calf) and Mirotic will continue to see the majority of the minutes at power forward for as long as Gibson remains sidelined.

Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Gibson was sent home from practice on Sunday to have his ankle checked out by the Bulls' doctors. He has been already ruled out for the team's upcoming back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday. Gibson suffered what appeared to be a pretty serious left ankle sprain midway through the third quarter of Friday's loss and was in a good amount of pain afterwards, rolling on the court and grabbing at his ankle. He suffered the sprain after stepping on Wes Matthews' foot. Gibson was carried to the locker room by teammates Nikola Mirotic and Nazr Mohammed, and was not putting any weight on that left ankle. He was ruled out for the rest of the game, and was seen on crutches and in a walking boot back in the locker room. X-rays were negative. Coach Tom Thibodeau said afterwards that he is hopeful that Gibson's ankle injury isn't serious, and added that he's "day-to-day." Given how he looked though, we're considering him doubtful ahead of the Bulls' Monday/Tuesday back-to-back. Pau Gasol (calf) and Mirotic would both see the majority of the minutes at power forward should Gibson have to miss time.

Probable Sprained left ankle Open link
Coach Tom Thibodeau said Gibson practiced on Monday and added that he should be able to return to the lineup Tuesday if he feels good. Gibson said after practice that his sprained left ankle is "feeling a little better" and that he "should be able to go (Tuesday vs. Magic)." The team is officially listing him as probable, and his return will push Nikola Mirotic back to a limited reserve role.

Out Sprained left ankle Open link
Gibson has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. the Wolves due to a left ankle sprain. This is a bit surprising given he was able to play through the injury late in Friday's loss, but it looks like the team is looking to exercise caution here early in the season and on the second night of a back-to-back. Nikola Mirotic will see extended run off the bench as the Bulls' primary backup big man.

Questionable Sprained left ankle Open link
Gibson has been listed as questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Timberwolves due to his left ankle sprain. This may be precautionary, given that Gibson was able to play through the injury late in Friday's game, but the team also may look to exercise caution here early in the season and on the second night of a back-to-back. Nikola Mirotic would be the primary big off the bench for the Bulls if Gibson were to be held out on Saturday.
