Injured Left ankle surgery Open link
Knight underwent arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left ankle Friday. "It was a minor procedure," Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby said. "There was an anterior flap (of cartilage) in his ankle that caused irritation. We expect a full recovery." The ankle, which he injured back during a March 9 loss, caused him to miss 16 of the Suns' final 17 games and also led to a bone bruise in his left heel. Knight attempted to return to action on March 29 but was unable to finish the game following an aggravation. "Definitely frustrating," he said. "I'm a competitor so I enjoy being on the court and enjoy playing. Being new to this team, I wanted to come in and help make a playoff push. Not being able to contribute the way I know I can, based on not being comfortable and then getting hurt. I knew I was just finding my way in that Golden State game and then to get hurt was kind of unfortunate."

Knight is not expected to play again this season due to a left heel bone bruise associated with the ankle sprain that he suffered on March 9. He has been definitively ruled out for the Suns' upcoming four-game road trip, and is not expected to play in the season finale either. "From our standpoint, we need that to heal so I would guess he's out for the season," coach Jeff Hornacek said. Knight suffered the ankle sprain when he drove into the lane and collided with Draymond Green. He missed eight games before trying to return but aggravated the heel while trying to plant in transition. Marcus Morris, TJ Warren, and Archie Goodwin will continue to see additional run on the wing in Knight's absence.

Knight has been ruled out for Saturday's contest vs. the Jazz due to continued soreness in his left heel. Knight suffered the aggravation towards the end of the third quarter of Sunday's loss when he was bumped by Russell Westbrook on a layup attempt and appeared to land awkwardly on his left leg. He walked to the bench under his own power and did not appear to have a noticeable limp after the game, but the Suns appear to be taking the cautious route given that he's been dealing with the ankle issues since March 9. Marcus Morris, TJ Warren, and Archie Goodwin will continue to see additional run on the wing for however long Knight remains sidelined.
