Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist is still dealing with considerable swelling in his sprained left ankle and is unlikely to return for any of the Hornets' remaining six games, according to coach Steve Clifford, although he's yet to be officially ruled out for the season. Jeffery Taylor, Gerald Henderson, and Mo Williams will continue to see additional run on the wing for however long Kidd-Gilchrist remains sidelined.

Coach Steve Clifford said Wednesday that he doesn't expect Kidd-Gilchrist to play before next week at the earliest as he works his way back from a sprained left ankle. That coincides with the latter end of his initial seven-to-10 day timetable and rules him out through the Hornets' upcoming Friday and Saturday back-to-back, with April 7 a potential target date for his return. Kidd-Gilchrist remains in a walking boot after he didn't return to this past Friday's loss after leaving towards the end of the third quarter with the injury, which he suffered when he landed awkwardly after a layup attempt. Jeffery Taylor, Gerald Henderson, and Mo Williams will continue to see additional run on the wing for however long he remains sidelined.

Kidd-Gilchrist went through a non-contact practice on Wednesday and will go through a contact practice on Thursday. If all goes well, he's expected to be good to go and should be able to return to the lineup for Saturday's contest vs. the Thunder. An MRI on Sunday confirmed that Kidd-Gilchrist has a mild right hamstring strain, and he has been ruled out for the Hornets' final two games leading into the All-Star break. Although it's mild, the team won't take any chances and rush him to return prior to the opportunity for extended rest. He suffered the strain during Saturday's loss when he collided with Robert Covington, although he was able to leave the game under his own power. Jeffery Taylor and Lance Stephenson will see the additional run on the wing for the two games prior to the break.

Coach Steve Clifford said after Saturday's game that it's likely Kidd-Gilchrist will be out through the All-Star break due to his strained right hamstring. He's expected to get an MRI on Sunday and the team won't rush him to return, with the break providing an opportunity for extended rest. Kidd-Gilchrist suffered the strain during Saturday's loss when he collided with Robert Covington, although he was able to leave the game under his own power. Active Right foot stress reaction Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist will return to the active roster for Wednesday's contest vs. the Celtics, as expected. He has missed the past 12 games due to a stress reaction in his right foot, with the team being extremely cautious in handling his return, as to avoid the possibility of it developing into a stress fracture, a significant injury which would require a six-to-eight week layoff. MKG is expected to be brought along slowly to start and will come off the bench initially behind Gerald Henderson, but will eventually take playing time back from Henderson and Brian Roberts as he works his way back to a full complement of minutes. "By the nature of his injury he wasn’t able to do a ton of conditioning, so I really don’t have a feel for how many minutes he can play," said coach Steve Clifford after Tuesday's practice.

Kidd-Gilchrist practiced with the Hornets on Tuesday and, barring a setback, will return to the active roster for Wednesday's game vs. the Celtics. Kidd-Gilchrist has missed the past 12 games due to a stress reaction in his right foot, with the team being extremely cautious in handling his return, as to avoid the possibility of it developing into a stress fracture, a significant injury which would require a six-to-eight week layoff. He's expected to be brought along slowly to start, but will eventually slot back into the starting small forward spot, taking playing time back from Gerald Henderson and Brian Roberts as he works his way back to a full complement of minutes. "By the nature of his injury he wasn’t able to do a ton of conditioning, so I really don’t have a feel for how many minutes he can play," said coach Steve Clifford after Tuesday's practice.

Injured Right foot stress reaction Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist put in a limited practice on Monday, which is a positive sign at least given he has been extremely limited in what he's been able to do lately. He's still not allowed to jump when he shoots, so it's still unlikely that he'll be cleared in time to play this week. MKG has missed the past 10 games due to a stress reaction in his right foot, and the team continues to be extremely cautious in his treatment as they are concerned it could turn into a stress fracture. "He’s doing well, but with that particular injury you’ve got to be careful and cautious because it could be (another) six weeks or eight weeks if he comes back too soon," coach Steve Clifford said. Clifford said it's still too early to project when he will be cleared to play. "I don’t think they’re really sure yet. They’re just starting to do more with him," Clifford said. “He did some stationary shooting and the water workout. He can’t put a lot of pressure on his foot.” Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson, and PJ Hairston will continue to handle the majority of the minutes on the wing for however long Kidd-Gilchrist is out.

The Hornets have said the earliest Kidd-Gilchrist could return to action is Wednesday; however, that may be too soon considering the nature of his injury. MKG has missed the past nine games due to a stress reaction in his right foot, and the team continues to be extremely cautious in his treatment as they are concerned it could turn into a stress fracture. "He’s doing well, but with that particular injury you’ve got to be careful and cautious because it could be (another) six weeks or eight weeks if he comes back too soon," coach Steve Clifford said. Coach Steve Clifford said Saturday that he's not expecting Kidd-Gilchrist back soon, with Dec. 3 mentioned as a possible return date. MKG is still not allowed to shoot, Clifford said, because the doctors don't want him jumping. The Hornets want to be as careful as possible with the stress reaction in his right foot, in the hopes to avoid the possibility of it developing into a stress fracture. "We're lucky that he said something (about feeling pain) because if he gets a stress fracture we're in deep trouble," said Clifford. "I think that is why they're being very careful." Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson, Gary Neal, and PJ Hairston (ankle) will handle the majority of the minutes on the wing for the Hornets for as long as MKG remains sidelined.

Kidd-Gilchrist has been ruled out for his fifth straight game on Friday as he continues to deal with a stress reaction in his right foot. It remains unclear as to how soon he'll be able to return to the active roster as he remains without a definitive timetable. The Hornets will continue to be short-handed Friday with PJ Hairston (ankle) also ruled out. Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson (ankle, probable), and Gary Neal (concussion, probable) will handle the majority of the minutes on the wing for the Hornets.

Kidd-Gilchrist has been ruled out in advance of Wednesday's contest vs. the Pacers as he continues to deal with a stress reaction in his right foot. Wednesday will mark his fourth straight game missed due the stress reaction in his right foot, and it remains unclear as to how soon he'll be able to return to the active roster. The Hornets will be extremely thin on the wing on Wednesday, with Gary Neal (concussion) also out and PJ Hairston (ankle) unlikely to play, meaning substantial run for both Lance Stephenson and Gerald Henderson.

Kidd-Gilchrist has been ruled out in advance of Monday's contest vs. the Mavs as he continues to deal with a stress reaction in his right foot. He remains without a timetable for a return, and appears highly unlikely to play on Wednesday either. Monday will mark the third straight game that Kidd-Gilchrist will miss due to the foot injury as he and the team take a cautious approach. "I'm going to take my time coming back and make sure everything is right again," Kidd-Gilchrist said of his recovery earlier. PJ Hairston will remain in the starting lineup at small forward for at least another game, with Gerald Henderson and Lance Stephenson also expected to see extended run on the wing for as long as MKG remains sidelined.

Injured Right foot Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist has been ruled out for at least two games due to a stress reaction in his right foot. He will be re-evaluated in Charlotte and a recovery timeline will be determined at that time. No further details were provided, but it sounds like the injury could certainly cost him more time beyond those two games. "I'm going to take my time coming back and make sure everything is right again," Kidd-Gilchrist said of his recovery. PJ Hairston will enter the starting lineup at small forward for at least the next two games, with Gerald Henderson and Gary Neal also expected to see extended run on the wing for as long as MKG remains sidelined.

Active Rib contusion Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist will return to the starting lineup for Friday's contest vs. the Hawks, according to coach Steve Clifford. He participated in all of shootaround this morning and was on track to play barring any setbacks. MKG has missed the past two games due to a rib contusion, an injury he suffered after taking a hard fall during Sunday's loss. His return will push Gerald Henderson back to the bench and cut into the minutes of Gary Neal on the wing.

Probable Rib contusion Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist participated in all of shootaround this morning, but is considered a game-time decision for Friday's contest according to coach Steve Clifford. He had previously been upgraded to probable, and though it appears more likely than not that he'll play, the team will take a more cautious approach here to make sure he's all the way recovered first. MKG has missed the past two games due to a rib contusion, an injury he suffered after taking a hard fall during Sunday's loss. His likely return will push Gerald Henderson back to the bench and cut into the minutes of Gary Neal on the wing.

Questionable Rib contusion Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist is listed as questionable for Wednesday's contest vs. the Heat and is most likely headed for a game-time decision. He tried participating in Tuesday morning's shootaround, but was unsuccessful and was later declared out for Tuesday's loss. "He tried, but he's hurting," said coach Steve Clifford. "So it would be better to rest him." Gerald Henderson would draw another start at small forward should MKG miss additional time, with Gary Neal to also see extended run on the wing.

Kidd-Gilchrist tried participating in morning shootaround but was unsuccessful and has been declared out for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans. "He tried, but he's hurting," said coach Steve Clifford. "So it would be better to rest him." We're also considering MKG doubtful for the second leg of the back-to-back on Wednesday, given today's update. Gerald Henderson has been named the starter at small forward in MKG's place, with Gary Neal to also see extended run on the wing in his absence.
11/3/2014 11:22 AM
Questionable Rib contusion Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist has officially been listed as questionable by the Hornets for Tuesday's game with a rib contusion. He took a hard fall during Sunday's loss and though he remained in the game and looked to be fine, eventually departed to the locker room to undergo testing. Gary Neal started in MKG's place in the second half, and would see extended run along with Gerald Henderson if he's forced to miss any time due to the rib injury.
11/2/2014 9:16 PM
Questionable Bruised ribs Open link
Kidd-Gilchrist had X-rays and a CT scan taken of his chest after his hard fall on Sunday, but he's been diagnosed with just bruised ribs and is considered day-to-day. MKG remained in the game after taking the fall, and appeared to be fine, but he eventually departed for the locker room and underwent the testing. Gary Neal started the second half of Sunday's game in MKG's place, and he and Gerald Henderson would see the surplus minutes on the wing if MKG isn't cleared to play on Tuesday vs. New Orleans.
