slow start is over. assists have been back up at 4.5 -5/ game for the past few weeks. I think he'll finish with value closer to the original bbm projections (2nd round in 8cat). glad to have stayed the course with him. having said that, I'm thinking of buying low on Millsap with Dipo, taking into account playoff sched. what do you think? UP for Dipo, DOWN for MIllsap

Also doesn't seem like that Lowe article really gives any new information about potential trade talks after Payne got hurt, but just gives some more insight into why they got dipo in the first place. Maybe they could swing a trade for Omri if he's available?
14.7d
drkinbote
I don't think the move to a 6th man role will be bad and might actually be good. His noticeable drops in r/36, a/36, fta/36, and to/36 should all rise with Oladipo getting more usage as the primary ball handler and being more of a focal point coming off the bench. I agree that his increase in 3a/36 at 5.6 from 4.2 last year might go down if he becomes 6th man. I wouldn't be too worried about his minutes in such a scenario, because I presume he'd see the floor in crunch time. I just hope that would mean Semaj Christion stops getting 16 minutes a game.

The way I read it is they traded for him to play sixth man assuming KD was still there, but without KD, they are starting him unless they can swing a trade for a wing, which as Lowe states, is not as easy as just going out and getting someone.

BBM commentators: Any opinion on the Zach Lowe article re 6th man potential? It might be incrementally good for counting defensive stats but likely a reduction in 3s?

From what I've seen. I would invite Dipo to come off the bench so he does not have to play with westbrook. Let him facilitate and play his game!

Finally has a good game and Zach Lowe drops that their plan is for him to eventually come off the bench. Might actually help him to not have to play next to Russ as much...

I want to see if I can trade lou williams and oladipo for carmelo. It's hard to imagine oladipo to trend up with the way he's being used in the offense. He is being used to stretch the floor but his game isn't playing off the ball. He thrives when he has the ball in his hand. And when he does have the ball in his hand, it's only for a 3-4 minute stretch.

Can't fault him for signing the contract, he got paid. OKC is going to have to figure out how to utilize this guy. He just stands in the corner on offense, makes zero attempt to rebound, not getting any blocks. It's pathetic to pay someone so much money and to perform like this.

This guy just looks lost and disinterested. He played his former team as if he was sleepwalking through the game. Defensive stats really suck. Josh said to hold tight and let him adjust to the new team, but it just looks like he hates playing with Westbrook. I'm not surprised Durant left this team. Westbrook may have had 16 assists but he kills the rhythm of anyone playing along side him. I'm annoyed with this draft pick of mine.

Well, he's averaging 5.6 3 attempts per36 and making them at 42 percent thus far, so it's not like passing those up will translate into a better field goal percentage. Where would you find data on the time that Dipo and Brodie are on the floor together? If their minutes are staggered enough, I'm worried that the drop in rebounds is a thing.

He is getting so many open looks. Love the 3s but would rather 1.5-2.5 3s and higher F& and maybe some and 1s. Does anyone think he'll start passing up some open looks to fake and get more drives to the lane?

I'm confident the steals will come, but what about the assists? Averaged almost 4 assists a game last year, but is he really going to cede all playmaking to Westbrook?
22.9d
brezzab
Are Oladipo's steals going to re-appear? From the limited time I've watched the OKC defense, it doesn't look like he plays a lot of on-ball D or even stays in the passing lanes that much. Anyone have any insight? I lost last week by a single steal so I'm pretty salty that he hasn't contributed.
24.9d
kylemckeown16
Oladipo is a good buy-low candidate right now, but if you trade Carmelo for Oladipo, you're doing that mostly hoping that Oladipo will rebound enough to have about the same value as Carmelo. I think Oladipo's upside is higher because he might make more threes and gets more steals, but I might be trying to trade someone other than Carmelo for him so that I'm not paying top dollar for Oladipo.

agree he won't shoot 34% all year. imo though, he'll have a hard time getting to mid 40s if he continues to take jump shots and not enough drives to the basket. or if OKC doesn't create off the ball/alley oops type of plays for him. another thing (i know it's early) is that haven't seen him play PG when Russ is on the bench. He might still be learning the system and that's why but if they plan to just have him for the most part spot up and wait for passes from Westy when he drives, that FG will hover in the low 40s or lower. He doesn't shoot well from mid and long range.
30.2d
gehrenberg
He's not going to shoot 34% all year that's a guarantee. What's less sure is how many assists he will be able to put up with the amount of usage Westbrook takes
