Suspended One-game suspension Open link
Smart has been suspended for one game by the league for his flagrant foul of Matt Bonner during Friday's loss. He was assessed a flagrant 2 foul and ejected midway through the fourth quarter on Friday after a low blow to Bonner while being screened. Smart will serve his suspension on Sunday vs. the Pistons, with Avery Bradley, Evan Turner, and Phil Pressey to see significant run in the frontcourt with Isaiah Thomas (back) still sidelined.

Active Ankle Open link
Smart headed to the locker room midway through the first quarter to get his ankle re-taped, and will be available to return. He appeared to tweak his ankle as he got tangled up with Jose Calderon and was a little gimpy afterwards, but it looks to be minor and shouldn't cause him to miss further time.

Smart has rejoined the Celtics in Salt Lake City and will play on Monday vs. the Jazz after sitting out Sunday's loss due to a family death. He will continue to come off the bench behind Evan Turner, and his return will push Phil Pressey back out of the rotation entirely.

Smart will not be with the Celtics for Sunday's game vs. the Warriors due to a family death, and will rejoin the team in Salt Lake City for Monday's game. Phil Pressey will assume the Celtics' backup point guard duties behind Evan Turner in his place, with Avery Bradley and Marcus Thornton also seeing additional run in the backcourt.

Active Strained left Achilles Open link
Smart will be available off the bench for Friday's contest vs. the Wolves. He said he's still not 100 percent yet, but feels good enough to play. Coach Brad Stevens has high hopes when it comes to Smart's minutes, but said, "he has to earn them and be available to earn them." Stevens added that Smart has to get healthy first and stay that way, and be more consistent on a game-to-game basis. Evan Turner will draw the first post-Rondo start at the point on Friday for the Celtics, with Smart coming off the bench initially. Smart has missed the past two games due to a strained left Achilles, and dealt with a prolonged absence before that due to a sprained left ankle.

Questionable Strained left Achilles Open link
Smart will participate in the Celtics' practice on Thursday as he continues to work his way back from a strain of his left Achilles tendon. He was held out for a second straight vs. the Magic on Wednesday after he was unable to finish Tuesday's practice session due to the injury. Smart suffered the strain less than a minute into the second quarter of Friday's loss and did not return. We'll look for more updates on Smart's status following practice, and Phil Pressey and Evan Turner will continue to see additional run in the backcourt if he's required to miss any additional time.

Smart started off practice on Tuesday but had to pull himself out and was not able to finish it due to discomfort with his strained left Achilles. He is considered doubtful for Wednesday's contest vs. the Magic. Smart suffered the strain less than a minute into the second quarter of Friday's loss and did not return. Phil Pressey and Evan Turner will continue to see additional run in the backcourt on Wednesday with Smart likely out again.

Out Left Achilles strain Open link
Smart is expected to return to practice on Tuesday. He had already been ruled out for Monday's game vs. the Sixers due to a strained left Achilles injury, but this bodes well for his chances of returning on Wednesday. Coach Brad Stevens said on Friday that Smart's strain should be relatively quick healing, and that appears to be the case. Of some concern is that the Achilles strain is on the same foot as his sprained left ankle. Phil Pressey and Evan Turner will see additional run in the backcourt on Monday with Smart sidelined.

Smart suffered a left Achilles strain less than a minute into the second quarter of Friday's game and won't return. He got on a stationary bike for a short while after exiting, then was seen limping to the locker room shortly after with the Celtics' team doctor and trainer. Phil Pressey entered in his place and will see additional run in the backcourt the rest of the way along with Evan Turner.

Active Sprained left ankle Open link
Smart has finished with his warmups and will return to the lineup for Wednesday's game vs. the Pistons after missing the team's past 10 games due to his sprained left ankle. Smart didn't travel with the team for their game in Atlanta on Tuesday, instead remaining in Boston to continue treatment, but had said in recent days that he was close to a return. He experienced some swelling in his left ankle after participating in portions of last Wednesday's practice, and that delayed his timeline a bit, and his last hurdle was being comfortable with hard cuts on his ankle. "The type of player I am, I need to be able to cut comfortably," Smart said. "We're trying to make sure we can work those kinks out and get me able to cut right." Smart's return will mean reduced roles for Phil Pressey, Marcus Thornton, and Evan Turner in the Celtics' backcourt.

Smart will not travel with the Celtics to Atlanta for their game on Tuesday. He underwent a CT scan on his ankle Monday, the results of which were negative. He will continue his treatment and conditioning while the team is on the road for the next two days. Smart said late last week that he definitely feels that he's close to returning, but he experienced some swelling in his left ankle after participating in portions of Wednesday's practice and won't push for a return before he's 100 percent. He added the main thing that's giving him the most trouble is when he makes hard cuts on his ankle. "The type of player I am, I need to be able to cut comfortably," Smart said. "We're trying to make sure we can work those kinks out and get me able to cut right." Smart has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Bulls after sitting out Thursday's practice session. He practiced on Wednesday, as expected, but only made it through the early part before taking himself out for the later portion. Smart didn't suffer any sort of injury, but wasn't comfortable enough to participate as he experienced some tenderness in his ankle and his conditioning isn't quite there yet. The team has maintained that they won't rush Smart back from his sprained left ankle injury, so this is just them taking a cautious approach. A return on Sunday is certainly possible, though it all depends on how he responds in upcoming practice sessions. Smart's eventual return will mean reduced roles for Phil Pressey, Marcus Thornton, and Evan Turner in the Celtics' backcourt.

Smart will practice on Wednesday, as expected, and if all goes he will return to the lineup and play on Friday vs. the Bulls. He's still considered questionable, and a determination on his availability for Friday will come down to how he feels in practice as well as his conditioning level, which remains a bit of a concern initially. Smart's return will take back minutes from Phil Pressey, Marcus Thornton, and Evan Turner in the Celtics' backcourt.

Smart said there's a "high possibility" that he returns to practice Wednesday. He remains questionable for Friday's game vs. the Bulls. A determination on Smart's availability for Friday will come down to how he feels in the practice sessions during the week and his conditioning level, which remains a bit of a concern initially. "It just depends," said Smart. "One day my body feels good, one day it doesn't. It's still in the healing process." His return would take back minutes from Phil Pressey, Marcus Thornton, and Evan Turner in the Celtics' backcourt.

Coach Brad Stevens said Smart is targeting a return to practice on Wednesday, but his availability for Friday's game is still unknown. Stevens added that Smart has been putting it a lot of work in the weight room, though his conditioning is still a bit of a concern. Smart had previously said he's aiming to return to the lineup Friday, but he remains questionable as it will come down to how he feels in the practice sessions during the week. "It just depends," said Smart. "One day my body feels good, one day it doesn't. It's still in the healing process." Smart is able to shoot off the dribble right now, but is unable to move laterally in defensive drills or play 5-on-5 yet, but the hope is that he'll have his restrictions lifted by Wednesday. Coach Brad Stevens said there's a slight chance Smart could be back in the lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Blazers, though that is considered a longshot. Smart has advanced beyond stationary activities and was seen shooting jumpshots before the Celtics Tuesday practice, another good sign as he works his way back from his left ankle sprain. Coach Brad Stevens said that Smart's timeline has not changed, with Nov. 28 as a likely return date based on his two-to-three week prognosis. Stevens previously said Smart is progressing well and that he looks better every day. "If he does his treatment diligently, he’ll be back sooner rather than later because (the training staff) really works hard to get these guys back," Stevens said. "I anticipate him being back. He’s a pretty diligent kid. He works pretty hard at it." Evan Turner, Phil Pressey, and Marcus Thornton will continue to see the surplus minutes while Smart remains sidelined.

Smart has started rehab for his sprained left ankle and “looks great" according to coach Brad Stevens. He is only expected to miss two-to-three weeks total because of the injury (previous estimates had him out over a month), avoiding any serious damage on a play where it appeared to be much worse. Stevens said Smart is progressing well and that he looks better every day. "If he does his treatment diligently, he’ll be back sooner rather than later because (the training staff) really works hard to get these guys back," Stevens said. "I anticipate him being back. He’s a pretty diligent kid. He works pretty hard at it.” Smart left the court during Friday's win on a stretcher after suffering what appeared to be a serious ankle injury. X-rays and an MRI revealed that nothing is torn or broken in his ankle. Exactly how long he'll be sidelined will depend on how quickly the swelling goes down and how much caution the team exercises regarding his eventual return. Evan Turner, Phil Pressey, and Marcus Thornton will see extended run for however long Smart is sidelined.

Smart left the court on Friday on a stretcher after a serious injury to his left ankle. Smart stepped on Lavoy Allen's foot while driving and rolled the ankle, and immediately went to the court in pain. He remained down for a few minutes and was then transferred to a stretcher with his leg immobilized. X-rays and an MRI revealed that nothing is torn or broken in his ankle, but Saturday morning's update is that he has a sprain and bone bruise, with coach Danny Ainge estimating that he'll need between two-to-three weeks to recover. Exactly how long he'll be sidelined will depend on how quickly the swelling goes down and how much caution the team exercises regarding his eventual return. Evan Turner, Phil Pressey, and Marcus Thornton will see the extra minutes while Smart is out of action.
