real life when you play tired team (2nd night of a b2b and 4th game in 5 nights). and then have a nice matchup against a smaller guard in DJA which to his credit, posted up and used his bigger frame to establish position. only 2 attempts from the 3 pt line. he needs to be doing more of what he did in college which is to score closer to the basket.

@Gdiama The problem is that they have playing more sg and sf than pg. I think that is why he is not posting up more and taking more 3's. He is starting pg tonight - I can see him getting double&double - 10 points/assists 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

The only real problem is his % and this comes mainly from their style of play that they want all these guards to space the floor. Smart is taking too many 3s for a guy with a career%<30 and this won't really change as it works for Stevens and they get the Ws.He was taking many 3s in college but now it's around 50% of his shots from 3. Every game the Celtics commentators are screaming for Smart to go close to the basket and take advantage of his strenght against the smaller guards but he doesn't really do so.

I really don't want to give up on him. Can't think of too many guys that play harder. But seems to be one of those cases where his skills don't translate into stats.

I was wondering the same thing but maybe it has more to do with Avery Bradley and I Thomas out performing their projections hence taking value away from Smart.

Yes it wasn't that great that you downgraded him that much. I mean he was drafted for a reason and then you take away 2 pts, 0.5 3s, half a reb and half an assist if I remember correctly. These are like 2 rounds lower. Not that it makes a big dif right now, but why?

Because I think he's taking on a bigger role, his shot can come around, and he fills up the box score. This is his third season, prime time for a breakout

Wilso - I would take Smart over Lawson due to the potential volatility of Lawson's role and the fact that he is playing for the Kings, who seem to be in a constant search for their PG of the future.

I think that's pretty premature. Reports indicate he's only out for 2 weeks meaning at most he misses only the opening week, 3 games. And with a 14 team league and with a pretty shallow waiver wire, I'm almost willing to guarantee someone will swoop him up.
50.5d

Drafted Smart in the 9th round (114) in a 14-team H2H league. Given ankle sprain is he a drop candidate now for Rozier or should i ride him out.

Seriously though, if Smart would just lay off the 3 pt attempts...that was never his game in college. He's shown that he can't shoot it at a respectable %.

Coach Brad Stevens has referred to Smart as his "6th starter". So I think Marcus will see a good chunk of minutes. He can play and defend all 3 perimeter positions which opens up his opportunities for minutes.
67.3d
joshlloyd48
Rozier will get a lot of Turner's minutes, but Smart played 27 last season and only needs to get 3 of Turner's to get to 30 minutes. Rozier isn't playing 30 minutes a night

They've been talking up Terry Rozier quite a bit recently. Is he much of a threat?

Yes that, and maybe his shot doesn't quite come around, but I think the risk is minimal. I have a hard time thinking he won't get 30 minutes.
