Injured Strained left Achilles Open link
Calderon underwent a PRP injection recently for his strained left Achilles, according to RealGM's Shams Charania. He will be re-evaluated in 10-to-14 days and could return this season if the Knicks had playoff implications, but given the team's situation it's highly unlikely at this point that he'll be back. Calderon had still not participated in any on-court activity yet as of Thursday and it became more and more unrealistic for him to return to game action as time passed. Langston Galloway, Shane Larkin, and Alexey Shved will continue to handle the point guard duties for the foreseeable future in his absence.

Coach Derek Fisher said Calderon still has not participated in any on-court activity yet, though the hope remains for him to return this season. Time is running out, and at this point it seems unlikely that he'll play in any of the Knicks' next four games (including Thursday). Calderon has been adamant about wanting to return, but Fisher and the Knicks have continued to err on the side of caution. Fisher allowed for the possibility that he wouldn't return at all this season due to his strained left Achilles, especially after seeing Wesley Matthews rupture his Achilles earlier this month. "He's doing a little more each day, but I think he's still a ways away," Fisher previously said. "Once we get back [to New York], he’ll be evaluated." Langston Galloway, Shane Larkin, and Alexey Shved will continue to handle the point guard duties for however long Calderon remains sidelined.

Injured Strained left Achilles Open link
The Knicks announced Monday that Calderon is out for at least the next two weeks due to his strained left Achilles. An MRI on Saturday confirmed the strain and he remains without a definitive timetable for a return, although he previously indicated that he is not entertaining any idea of shutting it down at any point this season if he can still play. Calderon exited Wednesday's loss during the fourth quarter with the injury and did not return, and said afterwards that it had already been bothering him for a few weeks before he tweaked it on a layup attempt during the first half. Shane Larkin, Langston Galloway, and Alexey Shved will continue to handle the point guard duties for the Knicks while Calderon remains sidelined.

Calderon has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Pistons, as expected, due to soreness in his left Achilles. He will be undergo an MRI and be re-evaluated on Saturday. Calderon was still in a walking boot at practice on Thursday after exiting Wednesday's loss during the fourth quarter with the injury. He did not return, and said afterwards that it had already been bothering him for a few weeks before he tweaked it on a layup attempt during the first half. Calderon remains unsure how long he'll be sidelined by the injury, but said that he is not entertaining any idea of shutting it down at any point this season if he can still play. Questionable Sore left Achilles Open link
Calderon left Wednesday's loss in the fourth quarter and did not return due to soreness in his left Achilles. He said afterwards that it had already been bothering him for a few weeks before he tweaked it on a layup attempt during the first half. Calderon left the arena in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated on Thursday. Shane Larkin, Langston Galloway, and Alexey Shved would see the run at point guard for the Knicks if this ends up costing him any time.

Active Left knee contusion Open link
Calderon will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's game vs. the Thunder after sitting out Saturday due to his bruised left knee. He left Friday's win visibly limping and not putting any weight on his left leg after appearing to bump knees twice, first with Elfrid Payton and then with Channing Frye. X-rays were negative, and Calderon appears to be good to go.

Out Left knee contusion Open link
Calderon did not travel with the Knicks and has been ruled out of Saturday's contest vs. the Hornets due to his bruised left knee. Coach Derek Fisher said Calderon is feeling much better, but can't predict his status for Monday's game yet. Fisher added that it was wise for Calderon to stay back for treatment "round the clock." Calderon left Friday's win visibly limping and not putting any weight on his left leg after appearing to bump knees twice, first with Elfrid Payton and then with Channing Frye. X-rays were negative, meaning there is no structural damage, but his short-term status beyond Saturday's game remains in question. Pablo Prigioni and Shane Larkin will handle the majority of the point guard duties for the Knicks on Saturday with Calderon unavailable.

Out Left knee contusion Open link
Calderon won't return to Friday's game due to a left knee contusion. X-rays were negative, which is a good sign as he had to be helped to the locker room midway through the third quarter after suffering the knee injury. Calderon was visibly limping and not putting any weight on his left leg after appearing to bump knees twice, first with Elfird Payton and then with Channing Frye. Pablo Prigioni will handle the majority of the point guard duties for the Knicks the rest of the way in his place.

Active Strained right calf Open link
Calderon will make his season debut for the Knicks on Saturday, as expected, with coach Derek Fisher saying that he'll be careful with his initial playing time. Calderon was a full participant in Friday practice and had previously said that he'd only need one practice before returning to the team's active roster. His return will likely push Shane Larkin out of the Knicks' rotation, with Pablo Prigioni remaining as the backup and Iman Shumpert also seeing occasion run at point guard.

Calderon was a full participant in Friday practice and looks on schedule to make his season debut vs. the 76ers on Saturday. He said he felt good after practice and will see how he feels after Saturday shootaround before making a final determination of his status. Calderon had previously said that he'd only need one practice before returning to the team's active roster, and his return will likely push Shane Larkin out of the Knicks' rotation, with Pablo Prigioni remaining as the backup and Iman Shumpert also seeing occasion run at point guard.

Injured Strained right calf Open link
Calderon and teammate Andrea Bargnani are out once again on Wednesday, but could both be back on the Knicks' active roster on Saturday. The plan is for both players to participate in a three-on-three scrimmage on Thursday and, if all goes well, participate in a full practice on Friday. If neither player has a setback, then both will be active vs. the 76ers on Saturday. "I just need one [practice]," Calderon said. "If I feel good, I just can't wait. I want to play as soon as possible. As soon as everything is good and clear and I can do it I'll be out there. I can't wait for that to happen. Just trying to be careful and don't do nothing stupid." Calderon's return will likely push Shane Larkin out of the Knicks' rotation, with Pablo Prigioni remaining as the backup and Iman Shumpert also seeing occasion run at point guard.

Injured Strained right calf Open link
Coach Derek Fisher said he doesn't expect Calderon or teammate Andrea Bargnani to practice on Monday, and is hoping they'll be able to return to practice later in the week instead. That means both are highly unlikely to play in the Knicks' upcoming back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday since Fisher has said he wants them to at least get a practice in before they make their season debuts. Calderon is currently rehabbing from his strained right calf injury, and has been running and riding the bike. He is currently two weeks into an initial two-to-three week timetable. "I just need one [practice]," Calderon said. "If I feel good, I just can't wait. I want to play as soon as possible. As soon as everything is good and clear and I can do it I'll be out there. I can't wait for that to happen. Just trying to be careful and don't do nothing stupid." If he practices on Friday, then he could debut on Saturday vs. the Sixers. We'll continue to update his status as needed. The Knicks will continue to roll with the trio of Shane Larkin, Pablo Prigioni, and Iman Shumpert (hip) at the point until then.

Injured Strained right calf Open link
Calderon is hoping to return to practice, and make his season debut soon thereafter, by next week. He hasn't had any setbacks in his rehab from a strained right calf, and has been running and riding the bike. Calderon is currently two weeks into an initial two-to-three week timetable. "I just need one [practice]," Calderon said. "If I feel good, I just can't wait. I want to play as soon as possible. As soon as everything is good and clear and I can do it I'll be out there. I can't wait for that to happen. Just trying to be careful and don't do nothing stupid." Given the Knicks' schedule, Calderon could have opportunities to practice next Monday or Friday; if he practices Monday then a debut on Tuesday or Wednesday is possible. If he practices Friday, then he could debut on Saturday. We'll continue to update his status as needed, but Calderon has reiterated that he's close and at this point a return next week appears likely. The Knicks will continue to roll with the trio of Shane Larkin, Pablo Prigioni, and Iman Shumpert at the point until then.

Injured Strained right calf Open link
Coach Derek Fisher said Calderon is unlikely to practice on Tuesday, and couldn't offer a definitive date for when he would return to the lineup. Fisher added that he probably wouldn't play him without him getting a practice in first. Calderon is currently 11 days into a two-to-three-week timetable, and at this point it appears a return next week is more likely. The Knicks will continue to roll with the trio of Shane Larkin, Pablo Prigioni, and Iman Shumpert at the point until Calderon returns.

Injured Strained right calf Open link
The news keeps getting worse for Calderon and the Knicks. The team announced Thursday that Calderon underwent an MRI on his calf, which confirmed a strain, and he's expected to miss the next two-to-three weeks. Coach Derek Fisher said that Calderon practiced on Monday and Tuesday with no issues, but then felt discomfort during Wednesday warmups, which prompted the MRI. The Knicks will have no choice but to turn to the uninspiring platoon of Shane Larkin and Pablo Prigioni at the point guard position for as long as Calderon remains sidelined.

Questionable Strained right calf Open link
Calderon was a late scratch on Wednesday after feeling discomfort in his right calf during pregame warmups. Coach Derek Fisher said after the game that he wasn't sure if Calderon would be able to play on Thursday, and it will likely come down to another game-time decision. Shane Larkin would be in line for another start if Calderon can't go, with Pablo Prigioni seeing the reserve minutes.

Out Strained right calf Open link
Calderon is a late scratch on Wednesday due to his right calf strain, despite his being announced earlier with the team's starters. Shane Larkin will now draw the start instead, with Pablo Prigioni and Iman Shumptert to see the minutes in reserve. Perhaps the Knicks chose to hold Calderon out with the team headed for a Wednesday/Thursday back-to-back, but we'll look for further updates on his status after Wednesday's game.

Probable Strained right calf Open link
Calderon ramped up his practiced activities on Monday and Tuesday, and coach Derek Fisher says he expects him to be active for the season opener on Wednesday. Calderon will join Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Smith, and Samuel Dalembert in the Knicks' starting five, with Pablo Prigioni and Shane Larkin as the backups at point guard.

Questionable Strained right calf Open link
Calderon participated in most of Monday practice and coach Derek Fisher said he's "trending towards playing" on Wednesday, but Tuesday's practice will be the ultimate determination of his status. "We don’t want something to go bad now and be out longer," said Calderon. "That's why we're careful." Shane Larkin and Pablo Prigioni would see the surplus minutes at point guard in the event that Calderon isn't ready to go on Wednesday.

Questionable Strained right calf Open link
Calderon continues to be limited by his right calf strain, and he didn't participate in the Knicks' open scrimmage on Sunday. All parties are "hopeful" that he'll be ready for the season opener, but he remains questionable and practices over the next two days will determine his availability. "The plan is to be ready for Wednesday but I have to practice with the team to really test it," said Calderon. "We don’t want something to go bad now and be out longer. That’s why we’re careful." Pablo Prigioni and Shane Larkin would see the surplus minutes at point guard if Calderon isn't ready to go on Wednesday.
10/20/2014 9:27 PM
Probable Strained right calf Open link
Coach Derek Fisher said he doesn't think Calderon's strained right calf injury is serious and believes he will be back for Wednesday's preseason game. "I think if this was a regular-season injury, he probably would've returned," Fisher said. Calderon headed to the locker room midway through the first quarter of Monday's exhibition and did not return. Given the nature of Fisher's comments, it doesn't appear that there's anything to worry about here and Calderon should be a full go for the season opener.

Questionable Strained right calf Open link
Calderon headed to the locker room midway through the first quarter of Monday's preseason game and is doubtful to return with a strained right calf muscle. This doesn't appear serious enough to put his status for the season opener in question, but we'll keep an eye on his status. Pablo Prigioni will fill in at the point in Calderon's place.
