Out for season Right lateral meniscus tear Open link
McRoberts is now traveling with the Heat on road trips, although all indications are that it's simply to be with the team and not because he's any closer to a potential return. Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick reported last month that there was hope that McRoberts could return before the end of the regular season, but he recently tweeted that he's now "less convinced" about the possibility after talking to other players. But should the team deem that a return won't jeopardize his long-term health and will help them make a playoff push, then it appears to still at least be a possibility. We'll continue to provide updates here should the team move forward with this plan of action, but for now we'll still consider McRoberts out for the season. He underwent surgery back in late December to repair a torn right lateral meniscus, and at the time it was deemed to be season-ending. The team will continue to rely on a combination of Udonis Haslem, Chris Andersen, Michael Beasley, and Henry Walker to fill in for McRoberts and Chris Bosh (illness) in the frontcourt.

Out for season Right lateral meniscus tear Open link
Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick reports that while the Heat don't want to jump the gun, there is hope that McRoberts could return before the end of the regular season. There should be skepticism here given there isn't much to be gained from rushing McRoberts back too soon, as it only serves to make a desperate situation worse. But should the team deem that a return won't jeopardize his long-term health and will help them make a playoff push, then it's possible. We'll continue to provide updates here should the team move forward with this plan of action, but for now we'll still consider McRoberts out for the season. He underwent surgery back in late December to repair a torn right lateral meniscus, and at the time it was deemed to be season-ending. The team will continue to rely on a combination of Udonis Haslem, Chris Andersen, Luol Deng, and James Ennis to fill in for McRoberts and Chris Bosh (illness) in the frontcourt.

Out for season Right lateral meniscus tear Open link
McRoberts underwent surgery on Monday for his torn right lateral meniscus, and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The Heat recently applied for a disabled-player exception to help find a replacement for McRoberts, so that in itself was a strong indicator that he wasn't expected to return. McRoberts' injury is yet another huge blow for the struggling Heat, with Chris Bosh possibly facing an extended absence due to a calf strain. The team will continue to rely on a combination of Shawne Williams, Chris Andersen, Justin Hamilton, and Udonis Haslem in the frontcourt moving forward.

Out for season Right lateral meniscus tear Open link
The Heat announced Monday that an MRI revealed a tear in the lateral meniscus of his right knee, and he'll need to undergo surgery, which will likely be season-ending. He had missed the past three games with what was being called a bruised right knee, but his slow recovery prompted the MRI, which subsequently revealed the tear. It's another blow for the struggling Heat, with Chris Bosh already ruled out Tuesday due to his calf strain. Shawne Williams will likely move back into the starting lineup in McRoberts' place, with Chris Andersen, Justin Hamilton, and Udonis Haslem also seeing additional run in the frontcourt.

Out Bruised right knee Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out for a third straight game on Sunday due to his bruised right knee. He hobbled off the court with less than two minutes left in Tuesday's win and did not return after diving for a loose ball and suffering the bruise. He'll continue to be evaluated on a game-by-game basis. "He's doing more than he was doing the other day," said coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He feels a little better, but we'll have to evaluate." The Heat will lean heavily on Justin Hamilton, Shawne Williams, and Udonis Haslem in the frontcourt on Sunday with Chris Bosh (calf) also sidelined.

Out Bruised right knee Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out for a second straight game on Friday due to his bruised right knee. McRoberts hobbled off the court with less than two minutes left in Tuesday's win and did not return after diving for a loose ball and suffering the bruise. He'll continue to be evaluated on a game-by-game basis. "He's doing more than he was doing the other day," said coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He feels a little better, but we'll have to evaluate." Justin Hamilton was a surprise addition to the starting lineup in McRoberts' place on Wednesday, with Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem also expected to see additional run off the bench for however long McRoberts remains sidelined.

Out Bruised right knee Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out of Wednesday's game vs. the Nuggets due to a bruised right knee. On his status, coach Erik Spoelstra said, “It’s sore. It’s a bone bruise. We will reevaluate him tomorrow in Utah.” McRoberts hobbled off the court with less than two minutes left in Tuesday's win and did not return after diving for a loose ball and suffering the bruise. Justin Hamilton was a surprise addition to the starting lineup in McRoberts' place, with Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem also expected to see additional run off the bench.

Questionable Right knee contusion Open link
McRoberts is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Nuggets with a right knee contusion. He hobbled off the court with less than two minutes left in Tuesday's win and did not return after diving for a loose ball and suffering the bruise. McRoberts said afterwards that he should be all right and is hopeful to play Wednesday, adding that he felt it was unwise to stay in and chase the Suns' shooters. Either way it's at least positive news in that it isn't related to his earlier toe/blister issues. The knee tweak appeared to be minor at the time and doesn't appear severe enough to where it will cost McRoberts much time, if at all. Shawne Williams would be the primary beneficiary if that was the case.

Questionable Bruised knee Open link
McRoberts hobbled off the court with less than two minutes left in Tuesday's win after diving for a loose ball and tweaking his knee. He did not return. McRoberts said afterwards that he should be all right and only has a bruise on his knee. He added that he felt it was unwise to stay in and chase the Suns' shooters, and is hopeful to play Wednesday. Either way it's at least positive news in that it isn't related to his earlier toe/blister issues. The knee tweak appeared to be minor at the time and doesn't appear severe enough to where it will cost McRoberts much time, if at all. We'll continue to update his status as we hear more.
12/9/2014 6:34 PM
Active Illness Open link
Coach Erik Spoelstra said McRoberts will play in Tuesday's game vs. the Suns, as expected. There was some question about his status heading in given he sat out shootaround due to an illness, but he has made good progress in his recovery throughout the day and looks to be good to go.
12/9/2014 6:21 PM
Probable Illness Open link
McRoberts was seen warming up for Tuesday's game and now appears likely to play vs. the Suns. He didn't participate in the Heat's morning shootaround due to his lingering illness, and his status was also in doubt on Sunday, but he ended up as a late addition to the starting lineup and turned in one of his best games of the season.
12/7/2014 4:53 PM
Active Illness Open link
McRoberts will be active and in the starting lineup for the Heat on Sunday, despite some earlier reports that he would not be able to play. We do know that he's dealing with an illness that has been making its way around the team, and the fact that his status was in this much question means he'll likely be operating at less than 100 percent against the Grizzlies' tough front line, which could mean a few more minutes for Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem.
12/6/2014 5:53 PM
Questionable Illness Open link
Reports after the Heat's Saturday practice are that McRoberts was feeling under the weather, and his status for Sunday vs. the Grizzlies is now in question. We'll look for further updates to his status, and it would be Shawne Williams, Udonis Haslem, and Justin Hamilton to see the additional run in the frontcourt if this were to cost McRoberts any time.
11/20/2014 5:27 PM
Active Toe blister Open link
McRoberts participated in morning shootaround and will return to the lineup for Thursday's contest vs. the Clippers. He's only expected to play between 10-15 minutes though as he continues to work his way back from a third-degree blister on his toe that has caused him to sit out the past three games. McRoberts will likely continue to come off the bench behind Shawne Williams at power forward and play limited minutes for at least a few more games as he works his way back to 100 percent. His return will push Udonis Haslem back to the fringes of the rotation.

Probable Toe blister Open link
McRoberts participated in morning shootaround and is expected to return to the lineup for Thursday's contest vs. the Clippers. He was a full participant in Wednesday's practice too as he works his way back from a third-degree blister on his toe that has caused him to sit out the past three games. McRoberts will likely continue to come off the bench behind Shawne Williams at power forward and play limited minutes for at least a few more games as he works his way back to 100 percent. His return will push Udonis Haslem back to the fringes of the rotation.

Questionable Toe blister Open link
McRoberts was a full participant in the Heat's Wednesday practice, a good sign that he could be ready to return to the active roster on Thursday after missing the past three games with a third-degree blister on his toe. He's officially being listed as questionable. Coach Erik Spoelstra said that it was encouraging to see McRoberts practice, but they'll need to see how his foot responds before his Thursday status can be established. McRoberts will likely continue to come off the bench behind Shawne Williams at power forward for at least a few more games, and his return will push Udonis Haslem back to the fringes of the rotation.

Out Toe blister Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out for his third straight game on Monday to a third-degree blister on his toe. Coach Erik Spoelstra said, "Josh is getting very close.” Teammate Danny Granger (hamstring) will likely only be available again on an emergency basis again, so Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem will continue to see extended run at power forward on Sunday.

Out Toe blister Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out for his second straight game due to a third-degree blister on his toe. Teammate Danny Granger (hamstring) will dress, but will only be available on an emergency basis, so Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem will continue to see extended run at power forward on Sunday. Justin Hamilton (adductor) remains out as well.
11/14/2014 5:04 PM
Doubtful Toe blister Open link
McRoberts is considered doubtful for Friday's game vs. the Hawks due to a third-degree blister on his toe. The Heat are listing him as questionable, and there's a possibility he could be available, but it's more likely than not that McRoberts doesn't play as the team exercises caution. Teammates Danny Granger (hamstring) and Justin Hamilton (adductor) have already been ruled out, so expect heavy run for Shawne Williams Udonis Haslem, Chris Anderson, Luol Deng, and James Ennis at the forward spots should McRoberts be held out.
11/1/2014 4:44 PM
Active Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts will be active and dress for Saturday's game vs. the Sixers, but may not play according to coach Erik Spoelstra. "He will be insurance," Spoelstra said. "Based on the flow of the game we will see if it’s necessary for him to play tonight.” Danny Granger (hamstring) and Udonis Haslem (quad) have both been ruled out with their respective injuries, so McRoberts could be used sparingly with the Heat short-handed. Shawne Williams and James Ennis will see extended run at power forward in any case with Granger and Haslem out, and McRoberts still limited.
11/1/2014 10:58 AM
Questionable Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts participated in a full practice on Friday, his first with the Heat since signing with the team this off-season, and he's listed as questionable for Saturday's game vs. the 76ers. Coach Erik Spoelstra said after shootaround that McBob is "getting closer" but added "we'll see" when it came to his availability for the game, although McRoberts himself said "I'll be available." Danny Granger (hamstring) and Udonis Haslem (quad) are listed as doubtful with their respective injuries, and James Ennis would once again see minutes if Granger were to miss a second straight game, with Shawne Williams to see a surplus if both McRoberts and Haslem are out of action.
10/31/2014 5:01 PM
Probable Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts participated in a full practice on Friday, his first with the Heat since signing with the team this off-season, and he's listed as probable for Saturday's game vs. the 76ers. His initial role will likely off the bench, as he works his way back to 100 percent, but he'll eventually figure prominently in the Heat's starting lineup. McBob's return will reduce Shawne Williams' minutes and saddle Udonis Haslem with regular DNP-CDs.
10/27/2014 7:04 PM
Injured Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts is on the Heat's inactive list to start the season, officially ruling him out for the season opener on Wednesday. Coach Erik Spoelstra continues to preach patience when it comes to McRoberts' active status. "He is increasing his workload," said Spoelstra on Monday. "He's looking better each day. We want to make sure we're smart with the process." It remains unclear how much longer the Heat will continue to limit McRoberts' contact work, but it will be Shawne Williams starting at power forward and Udonis Haslem also seeing surplus playing time for as long as he remains inactive.
10/27/2014 11:10 AM
Doubtful Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts is still not participating in the contact portion of Heat practice on Monday and, although coach Erik Spoelstra is still calling him day-to-day, he seems very doubful for the Heat's opener on Wednesday. McRoberts has been very slow to return from off-season toe surgery, although at least part of that is the team wanting to be as "patient and diligent" as is possible, so that it won't be an issue during the marathon of the regular season. Shawne Williams will start ahead of McRoberts at power forward to start the regular season, although McBob will start once he's fully healthy and acclimated.
10/21/2014 5:30 PM
Injured Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out of Tuesday and Friday's preseason games as he continues to slowly progress in his recovery from off-season toe surgery. Coach Erik Spoelstra says McRoberts has been participating in some of the team's practices, but is still not playing. "We're being patient and diligent with this," Spoelstra said. He added that though McRoberts believes he is ready to play, the team is still holding him out and exercising caution. It looks like he has a chance to be ready in time for the season opener, but the fact that he won't get any preseason action in is particularly concerning because he's on a new team and needs some time to get acclimated to the offense and his teammates. Shawne Williams appears likely to start ahead of McRoberts at power forward to start the regular season.

Injured Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts has been ruled out for Friday and Saturday's preseason games. That only leaves two more exhibitions for him to possibly play in before the season starts, and it's extremely suspect that he plays in either at this point. McRoberts is looking more and more doubtful for the season opener as he continues to slowly progress in his recovery from off-season toe surgery. He still isn't taking contact in practice yet, and the fact that he likely won't get any preseason action in is particularly concerning because he's on a new team and needs some time to get acclimated to the offense and his teammates. He still makes for a decent target late in drafts, but has lost a lot of his previous sleeper appeal.

Injured Toe surgery Open link
Coach Erik Spoelstra said McRoberts remains day-to-day and it is still unclear whether the team expects him back in time for the season opener. McRoberts says he is currently not involved in the full-speed portions of practice yet. Spoelstra had said earlier that McRoberts may not be medically cleared in time for the start of the season as he is still recovering from off-season toe surgery. The fact that McRoberts' status is still in question this early in the preseason is a bit concerning, particularly because he's on a new team and needs some time to get acclimated to the offense and his teammates. He still makes for a solid target late in drafts, but how he progresses in his recovery over the next week or two is certainly worth monitoring.

Injured Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts' toe injury could put his availability for the Heat's season opener in doubt. Coach Erik Spoelstra said he may not be medically cleared in time, though Spo added, "It's too early to tell, but he’s doing a lot. I anticipate he'll increase his workload significantly in the next week to 10 days." The fact that McRoberts' status is still in question this early in the preseason is a bit concerning, particularly because he's on a new team and needs some time to get acclimated to the offense and his teammates. McRoberts still makes for a solid target later in drafts, but how he progresses in his recovery over the next week or two is certainly worth monitoring.

Injured Toe surgery Open link
McRoberts' toe injury is expected to keep him out for most or all of the Heat's preseason, though he said he does not anticipate his toe keeping him from being ready for the season. "I'm planning on being full-go,” McRoberts said. “Opening night, I plan to be full speed.” He has had ongoing issues with the big toe on his left foot and finally addressed it in the off-season with surgery. "It’s been bad for years and I just played through it, but I knew I needed surgery. I had some bone spurs and stuff in there." McRoberts still makes for a solid target later in drafts, but how he progresses in his recovery with his toe is certainly worth monitoring.
