Out for season Sore left knee Open link
Lin has been shut down for the final three games of the regular season due to continued soreness in his left knee. He missed the past two games due to the injury, and an MRI of his knee showed an abnormality in his meniscus. It's the same knee that he had surgery on in 2012 when he had a torn meniscus, so there's obvious concern here and no reason to push him to return for a few meaningless games. Jabari Brown, Jordan Clarkson, and Dwight Buycks will continue to see additional run in the backcourt in Lin's absence.

Questionable Sore left knee Open link
Lin did not practice on Saturday and his status for Sunday's contest vs. the Mavs remains unclear. He has missed the past two games due to continued soreness in his left knee, and an MRI of his knee showed an abnormality in his meniscus. Lin plans to get re-evaluated again in the hopes of being able to play in the Lakers' final three games. He was a late scratch for Wednesday's loss with the issue, and it's the same knee that he had surgery on in 2012 when he had a torn meniscus so there's obvious concern here. Jabari Brown, Jordan Clarkson, and Dwight Buycks would continue to see additional run in the backcourt if Lin is held out again Sunday.

Questionable Sore left knee Open link
Lin will undergo an MRI on his left knee Thursday after he was a late scratch for Wednesday's loss with soreness. This is the same knee that he had surgery on in 2012 when he had a torn meniscus, so there's obvious concern here. Lin is considered questionable for Friday's game vs. the Wolves, and we'll continue to update his status once the MRI results come back. Jabari Brown, Jordan Clarkson, and Dwight Buycks would continue to see additional run in the backcourt if he has to miss more time.

Out Sore left knee Open link
Lin is a late scratch for Wednesday's game vs. the Nuggets due to soreness in his left knee. This one came out of nowhere as there were no prior indications that he was dealing with any knee issues, and he was declared out just moments before the opening tip. Jabari Brown will start in Lin's place at shooting guard, with Jordan Clarkson, Wesley Johnson, and Dwight Buycks also seeing additional run in his absence.
4/2/2015 2:29 PM
Active Illness Open link
Lin said Thursday that he's still feeling the lingering effects of his upper respiratory infection but plans to push though it and doesn't expect to miss any time going forward. He returned to the lineup Wednesday after a two-game absence with the illness, and he could be looking at an expanded role at shooting guard moving forward, depending on the status of Wayne Ellington (shoulder).
4/1/2015 1:21 PM
Active Illness Open link
Lin will return to the lineup on Wednesday vs. the Pelicans after a two-game absence due to an upper respiratory infection. Coach Byron Scott said he felt "great" after morning shootaround. Lin's return will cut into the minutes of Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown in the backcourt.
3/31/2015 9:32 PM
Questionable Illness Open link
Lin is listed as questionable in advance of Wednesday's contest vs. the Pelicans. Coach Byron Scott said he believes Lin will be able to play after missing the past two games due to an upper respiratory infection. Lin said that while the raspiness in his voice has improved, he still feels sluggish. "I don’t think it’s serious," Scott said. "I think he’s just drained. He played a couple of games he probably shouldn’t have played. But he wanted to give it a go." We'll continue to update Lin's status as needed, and his return would cut into the minutes of Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown in the backcourt. Teammate Carlos Boozer (illness) is also listed as questionable.

"I don’t think it’s serious," Scott said. "I think he’s just drained. He played a couple of games he probably shouldn’t have played. But he wanted to give it a go." We'll continue to update Lin's status as needed and are considering him probable for now. His likely return will cut into the minutes of Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown in the backcourt.

Out Illness Open link
Lin has been ruled out for a second straight game on Monday vs. the 76ers as he continues to deal with an upper respiratory infection. He has been dealing with the illness since Friday and it's only gotten worse in the past few days. Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown will continue to handle the backcourt minutes on Monday in Lin's absence.
3/29/2015 12:40 PM
Out Illness Open link
Lin has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Nets due to illness. This comes as a surprise given he went through all of practice on Saturday and said he planned to give it a go after playing through an upper respiratory infection during Friday's loss. The Lakers will look to Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown to handle the backcourt minutes on Sunday in Lin's absence.
3/28/2015 1:23 PM
Probable Illness Open link
Lin went through all of practice on Saturday and plans to play Sunday vs. the Nets despite dealing with an illness. He played through sinus issues during Friday's loss and sounded confident that he'd be able to give it a go again "unless it gets worse." We'll continue to update Lin's status as needed, but it doesn't look like he'll have to miss any time.
3/27/2015 5:08 PM
Active Illness Open link
Lin will play on Friday vs. the Raptors after previously being considered questionable due to an upper respiratory issue. We'll continue to monitor his status moving forward as said he has felt no improvement in his sinuses over the past two days.

Active Back spasms Open link
Lin went through shootaround and will play on Sunday vs. the 76ers, as expected. He labored through back spasms during Thursday's loss to the Jazz, but said afterwards that he didn't expect it to be a lingering issue. Lin suffered the injury when he took a hit during Wednesday's practice, and Scott wasn't sure if he'd be able to play in the hours prior to Thursday's opening tip. He will reprise his role as the Lakers' primary backup guard, although Scott said earlier that he plans to start Lin at the point for some of the season's final games.

Lin labored through back spasms during Thursday's loss to the Jazz, but said afterwards that he expects to fully recover by Saturday and be ready to play in Sunday's game vs. the 76ers. He suffered the injury when he took a hit during Wednesday's practice, and coach Byron Scott wasn't sure if he'd be able to play in the hours prior to Thursday's opening tip. Lin is expected to be held out of practice on Friday with an aim of having him fully prepared for Sunday's game.
3/19/2015 8:36 PM
Active Back spasms Open link
Lin said he will give it a go and play on Thursday vs. the Jazz despite dealing with back spasms. He was considered closer to doubtful heading in, and we'll continue to keep an eye on his back should he suffer some sort of aggravation or experience tightness.
3/19/2015 7:53 PM
Doubtful Back spasms Open link
Coach Byron Scott said Lin is dealing with back spasms, and is unsure if he'll be able to play on Thursday vs. the Jazz. Lakers beat writer Mike Trudell reports that Lin is actually closer to doubtful, and we'll continue to update his status as needed. Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, and Jabari Brown would all see extended run in the backcourt for the Lakers in the likely event that he ends up being held out.
3/12/2015 1:06 PM
Active Thigh contusion Open link
Lin went through morning shootaround and will play on Thursday vs. the Knicks after sitting out of practice Wednesday due to a thigh contusion. Coach Byron Scott didn't seem too concerned about the injury and expected Lin to play, and Lin himself backed that up and said he would be good to go as well.
3/11/2015 1:58 PM
Probable Thigh contusion Open link
Lin sat out of practice on Wednesday due to a thigh contusion, and is officially being listed as questionable in advance of Thursday's game vs. the Knicks. Coach Byron Scott didn't seem too concerned about it though and said he expects Lin to play, and Lin himself backed that up and said he expects to play as well. We'll continue to update his status as needed, but this appears to be a minor issue that is unlikely to cost him any time.
2/8/2015 1:16 PM
Active Illness Open link
Lin said he will play on Sunday vs. the Cavs despite dealing with gastroenteritis. He was considered questionable heading in due to the illness, but it looks like he's feeling good enough to give it a go.
11/23/2014 1:39 PM
Active Sore back Open link
Lin sat out practice on Saturday as he was dealing with a sore back, but said he is fine and confirmed that he will play and start in Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets. Lin added that he was “hit awkwardly” in an unspecified play in Friday's loss, but that the injury stems from “just stuff that got built up.” Kobe Bryant will also play on Sunday, as expected, after sitting out Saturday's practice to rest.
11/22/2014 3:27 PM
Probable Sore back Open link
Both Lin and Carlos Boozer sat out the Lakers' Saturday practice for the purposes of rest, although it was reported that Lin is dealing with a sore back and Boozer is dealing with a sore left shoulder. Neither player is expected to have their availability for Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets affected by their minor ailments. Kobe Bryant also sat out the practice, with coach Byron Scott looking to give him a rest day with the Lakers coming off a stretch of four games in six days.
11/9/2014 8:18 PM
Active Sore right foot Open link
Lin is active and in the starting lineup for the Lakers on Sunday vs. the Hornets, as expected. He was seen taking medication on the Lakers' bench during Tuesday's loss for the soreness that he has been experiencing in his right foot. No further details were provided, but that does a bit to explain his slow start to the season so far.

Probable Sore right foot Open link
Lin was seen taking medication on the Lakers' bench during Tuesday's loss for the soreness that he has been experiencing in his right foot. No further details have been provided, but that does a bit to explain his slow start to the season so far. The team is off until Sunday when they take on the Hornets, and at this point it's assumed that Lin will still be in the starting lineup and not be forced to miss any time.
10/21/2014 5:14 PM
Probable Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin will return to the Lakers' active roster for Tuesday's preseason game. "Ankles are finally feeling better," Lin said. "Excited to get back on the court tonight!" He has been sidelined for about 10 days now with a sprained left ankle, but has made good progress in his recovery and is on track to be a full go for the season opener. Lin is looking at an expanded role as the Lakers' new starting point guard with Steve Nash (sciatica, nerve, back) continuing to battle health issues. Nash will more than likely miss a significant part of the season once again with his diminishing health, leaving the lion's share of the minutes for Lin at the point.
10/19/2014 8:26 PM
Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin will not be active for Sunday's preseason game, as expected, as he continues to work his way back from a sprained left ankle. Coach Byron Scott said that Lin might be ready to return to game action on Tuesday, but it will come down to how much work he can get in during Monday's practice. "Going forward and backward is not the problem," said Scott. "It's more of the planting and cutting and change of directions. We have to see if he can do that. If he can, Tuesday is a possibility." Lin is obviously getting closer here, and his status for the regular season opener does not seem to be in question, but we'll wait for updates from Monday practice.
10/18/2014 1:45 PM
Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin was off to the side shooting jump shots during the Lakers' scrimmage on Saturday and won't play in Sunday's preseason game, though he's aiming for a Tuesday return. He has been dealing with a sprained left ankle injury as well as a tweaked right ankle. Lin's ankle injuries shouldn't affect his status for the regular season opener as the team continues to exercise caution, but we'll keep an eye on his progress over the next few days. Of note is that Steve Nash's nerve/back issues have popped up again, and that coach Byron Scott has already talked about Lin starting at the point ahead of Nash.
10/17/2014 2:51 PM
Questionable Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin continues to be somewhat limited in practices due to his sprained left ankle, and he also tweaked his right ankle during individual workouts on Friday. Lin remains hopeful that he can return to preseason game action on Sunday, although coach Byron Scott said that he doesn't anticipate having him available. This shouldn't affect his status for the regular season opener, but we'll keep an eye on his progress over the next few days. Of note is that Steve Nash's nerve/back issues have popped up again, and that coach Byron Scott has already talked about Lin starting at the point ahead of Nash.
10/15/2014 3:53 PM
Questionable Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin sat out practice again on Wednesday as he continues to deal with a sprained left ankle, though he was seen on the court doing some running, ball handling, and light shooting. He will not play in Thursday's preseason game but said he hopes to be able to return on Sunday. Lin suffered the injury during Saturday's practice when his left foot was stepped on during a 5-on-5 scrimmage. This shouldn't be anything more than a relatively small preseason bump in the road, and he should be fine for the season opener. Of note is that Steve Nash's nerve/back issues have popped up again, and that coach Byron Scott has already talked about Lin starting at the point ahead of Nash.
10/14/2014 3:47 PM
Questionable Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin sat out practice again on Tuesday and was limited to just light shooting as he continues to recover from a sprained left ankle. He's unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason game (though he's being listed as a game-time decision) but hopes to be able to return on Sunday. Lin suffered the injury during Saturday's practice when his left foot was stepped on during a 5-on-5 scrimmage. This shouldn't be anything more than a relatively small preseason bump in the road, and he should be fine for the season opener. Of note is that Steve Nash's nerve issues have popped up again, and that coach Byron Scott has already talked about Lin starting at the point ahead of Nash.
10/13/2014 2:33 PM
Questionable Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin didn't practice on Monday, opting to get treatment on his sprained left ankle instead. Coach Byron Scott said he'll be a game-time decision for Thursday's exhibition. Lin sat out Sunday's preseason game after suffering the sprain at the end of Saturday's practice when his left foot was stepped on during a 5-on-5 scrimmage. This shouldn't be anything more than a relatively small preseason bump in the road, and he should be fine for the season opener.
10/12/2014 6:56 PM
Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin is not active for Sunday's preseason game, as expected, due to his left ankle sprain. Coach Byron Scott said he's feeling much better than he did on Saturday, however, and he expects Lin to play in the Lakers' next game, Thursday vs. the Jazz. The injury occurred at the end of Saturday's practice when his left foot was stepped on during a 5-on-5 scrimmage, but today's update confirms that it was relatively minor in nature.
10/11/2014 3:01 PM
Injured Sprained left ankle Open link
Lin sprained his left ankle at the end of Saturday's practice after getting it stepped on during today's 5-on-5 scrimmage. He was "in a little pain" and will be re-evaluated on Sunday. Lin said there's an "outside chance" he'd play in Sunday's preseason, but will see how it feels Sunday morning first as he's currently experiencing soreness. This shouldn't be serious enough to put his status for the season opener into question, and we'll continue to update his status accordingly.
