Nets reporter Brian Heyman replied to a question about Lin's status for Tuesday and said: "I asked Lin, he said didn't know [if he'll be ready to play], depends how it responds. But Nets seem very cautious in general. So I'd be surprised if he did." (Source: https://twitter.com/bheyman99/status/843895234350256129)
68.5d
kylemckeown16
The Nets play Tue, Thur, Fri, and Sun this week. They weren't holding Lin out of b2bs recently, so it's hard to know what the b2b Thur and Fri will mean for his minutes and availability. Atkinson was reported to say that Dinwiddie will start at PG if Lin is out, and he said Whitehead could play there and that he wanted to get some minutes for Archie Goodwin at PG, too. There was not much context to the tweets (https://twitter.com/ByRyanLazo), so it's hard to try draw too much of a conclusion on Lin's status until we get a more clear report. Ryan's reporting paints a gloomy picture, but (https://twitter.com/bheyman99) Brian's reporting doesn't paint nearly as bad of a picture of Lin's situation. It's hard to know whose reporting to lean on, so I'm holding onto Lin where I can. But if there is a really great option on the wire, I might drop Lin in certain leagues. I would try not to make a rash decision until we hear from another reporter or the team if you can afford to wait. (2/2)

kylemckeown16
Lin talked to the media, but the only things that have been reported so far are vague quotes. Lin said, "Just day-to-day, nothing serious. I'm encouraged. It was just an ankle tweak thing & not like a hamstring." -- That still doesn't tell us how long he'll be out. (1/2)

conradstrasser
Some guidance from BBM here would be much appreciated. Would hate to cut him if he misses just one game, but I'm looking at a guy like Barea, who only plays three games (but all of them on light schedule days) and wondering if I should just cut bait. I'm in week 2 of the playoffs and can't afford a week of 0s from Lin.

Lin is supposed to talk to the media today. If he does, hopefully, we can get a sense of how long he's expected to be out, but some of the loose reports today that have mentioned Dinwiddie as the starting PG IF Lin is out make it sound like he's closer to doubtful for Tuesday. We may get a better update on his status soon.

Thanks @jbs5635. Good points. If you do ask a question in the player comments, provide as much context as possible. List your league size, type of league, your team needs, and any other relevant information about your situation. If you're asking which player is better for next week, include the number of games for each player. It matters immensely in the playoffs. The more speculating people have to do about the situation, the less likely they are to offer a vote or reply.

Lots of up/down stuff lately between two totally different players. Guys, we can't give you an answer if that's the case. I don't see you could expect the community to do so. I've stubbornly held on to him solely because my league has an IR slot. I agree that he should be treated as house money at this point, but looking back at the beginning of the season when he was healthy he wasn't playing big minutes then and he was still putting up numbers and a healthy 26% usage. Treat him as an end of roster option and let's get weird.

If you're hoping for a nice 3-4 weeks at the end of a Roto season, sure he could be helpful, but he's not even on my competitive H2H league watch-lists. Potential "rest days," minute restrictions, or re-injuring the hammy are all viable threats to his production. Also, he'll likely hurt FG%/TO if he ever plays. At this point in the season, unless your team is in shambles, you can probably find solid and accountable production elsewhere for the final playoff push.

#65159 -- It depends. Do you have an IR spot open? Then sure. Go ahead. Lin is expected to miss another 2-4 weeks, and he'll likely be on a minutes limit when he first returns. And there's the general risk of the injury having another (3rd?) setback, which would further delay Lin's return. You might be able to stash him, but you'd want to be in a really good spot in the standings if you're stashing him without an IR in a daily lineups league.

The last update we got was last Monday, and they said he was out indefinitely. This hamstring injury was said to be less serious than his previous injury, so there's reason to believe he'll return sooner than later. With that said, hamstring injuries are often treated on a week-to-week basis, and that seems to be what's happening here. If you're buried in your standings and need to fight for every category win possible, you may need to drop Lin in a non-IR league. If you can hold him and remain in contention for a playoff spot, that'd be ideal.
