Nice spotting JBS but In the grand scheme of things I think that variation is quite minuscule and won't have any impact. It may even come down to a mere rounding up or down of figures in some instances.

It appears his rebound totals aren't lining up here with multiple sources I have checked. He is at 11.9 boards for the season basically anywhere I look but here. Some differences I noticed recently. On the March 26th those sources are showing him having 13 boards, on the 19th 11 boards, on the 14th 14 boards, and on the 3rd 8 boards. Feb 6th he is at 9 boards with these sources. Also, his fg% is at .505 but at .504 here...although not sure where that possible error may be located. Not sure if there are others than the game I mentioned...but those are the ones I have noticed. Could be problems with some others players as well...just happen to be taking a look at AD's stats and noticed this. Assuming that stat corrections were made in those games that didn't reflect here. Just something to take a look at. Thanks.

I had him last year and it caused me a lot of issues when he got shut down. I wasn't keen on drafting him but he fell to the end of the first round when my pick rolled around and I grabbed him again anyway. You still basically draft the best player on board when your pick rolls around.

If anything he plays too hard and is unlucky in some of those moments. Davis loves to throw his body into the stands to save a possession. We all understand why and hate it at the same time. If anyone is a baby in this scenario then I would say it is his coach and/or team management.

He's going to get better looks than running floaters going away from the basket and from getting doubled off the catch or fronted, so I wouldn't be surprised if FG% goes up like .1-2%. AD has been underperforming on D and it wouldn't surprise me to see his steals and blocks move up similarly, now that he has less of a load on offense. His TOs should regress back to his career average. So unless you're that dependent on getting 27 points and 12 rebounds, this trade might lowkey be positive for AD's overall value.

I'm actually not convinced on the better fg%. My guess is he becomes more of a stretch 4 to give DMC room to operate in the paint. More attempts for long 2s & 3s. Dont think he has that good a range as KD to say better fg

Completely agree with the two commentators below. Out of 11 pro leagues, I drafted AD only in one because he fell to me at the turn (I took KAT ahead of him in most leagues). My logic was to cash in on him 1/2 through the season via trade, but I did not anticipate this much of a health concern, thus eroding his value.

The way I see it, if you drafted AD somewhere in the mid to late first round and still have him, you have gotten incredible production for over half a season. He provided almost twice the value of a similar late first round option. A healthy AD produces 1 and a half times a replacement option. However the amount of stress of owning AD is high. We all know that. Every time he falls or leaves a game, we have a mini heart attack. If you are able to get a late first rounder like the guys mentioned below, I think you consider the 1.5x production thus far a gift and take someone who will cause less stress.

A. Davis owners- you are getting what you signed up for when you drafted him, you knew chances were that he would probably play in about 65-70 games on the season, and be a risk of getting shut down at the end of the year either due to injury or due to NOR being out of playoff contention (or most likely a combo of both). I for one love his game, and feel he should have gone first in many drafts... but when you factor these things in, under my own personal rankings, I dropped him down to about 15th in MY valuation, as Id rather a sure thing that is 85% the player AD is, than risk my playoffs due to increased risk by a player that carries risk. So while i see Davis for Gobert as too lopsided, I understand the logic....if your team plus Gobert could still win everything, that might be more enticing than your team with Davis potentially being out in key weeks

He does leave a lot of games early. But thats included in his per game ranking, which is still 4 on the year. He has put up good lines even I need abbreviated games
207.7d
dl22
Average games played per season: 60.4. He's never topped more than 68 games played in a season. This does NOT include games where he's left after the tip-off due to a injury, which at this rate seems to be a 15-20% chance this season.

@greg, i can get behind that. It's just there is so much frustration owning AD with all the games he leaves. The other night he was gone a whole quarter to get xrays on a jammed finger? I might be wrong, but it just seems like he gets xrays and leaves every game for different things.

I'm aware that Gobert for AD seems like an all time sell low moment, but lets consider the circumstances here. AD is missing games like crazy (if you include games he leaves and/or doesn't return). Standard league H2H playoffs are only 5-6 weeks away. I would rather have a rock solid full schedule of Gobert than 1-2 games per week of Anthony Davis. Especially in my league where it's very competitive and I'm hanging on to 6th place with a thread due to a team built around AD without it's center piece.

I'm just saying that everybody thinks it's a foregone conclusion that Davis is going to miss a bunch of games and nobody seems to take injury risks into account for other players. I'm sure the long-term concern is not the thigh bruise. It is the fact that he has left 7 of last 9 games early. Though I sincerely hope not, it feels like luck might run out one of these times and his standard mid-game injury might be for an actual injury. @gehrenberg, if you are an AD owner, what offers might actually make you think about parting ways?
207.7d
gehrenberg
50% (2) agree
By the same merit Davis was shut down for the last 14 games last year and most of them came after fantasy playoffs were already over. The Pelicans are currently 2 games out of a playoff spot, so in the same sense can't that be considered a one off event?

He may have played more than boogie in the last two years, but boogie had meningitis one year where he was out a long while. I'd consider that a one off, using the "more games played" moniker is a little misleading.
207.7d
gehrenberg
I don't believe in jinxes. I do believe in facts however. Based on the data we have from the last few years, Butler is more likely to miss games than Davis and Davis is more likely to put up better fantasy value.

I don't own him in a redraft, it's a keeper with contracts ( his isn't bad compared to some) so it's not so cut and dry for me to just trade him ( but I will explore it)...but if I did no on Lebron or IT. Cousins would make me think hard especially without Gay as his daily upside is now higher. The fact that you always have to check the injury report to see if he is in there and you're every day close to a heart attack because you read he went to the locker room and had xrays is enough to make you wanting to trade away. Yes great value if you drafted him late 1st round, but you cannot avoid the frustration and the heartbeats because he is not resting like Lebron, he just has issues in every part of his body. asma3nur -- How much is Davis' contract? Is he just a rental who always gets re-drafted each season because his contract is too high? If so, I don't think I'd be giving up Barnes, Beal, and Russell for that package. It's too much keeper value to give up for a rental, and you're also giving up a lot of current production in that trade, so I'm not sure how much better it makes you.
226.5d
asma3nur
I play in a competitive $250 auction. 11 cat (oreb/FTM) 12 teams. we are allowed to keep 3 players (I will keep Giannis (81), KAT (45), and one of Avery Bradley (5), Beal (5), Barnes (10), or Deangelo Rusell (5). We are also allowed to acquire or trade $25 draft dollars for next year. I'm currently in 4th, and my team has beaten 4/5 top teams. I would be chilling, however the top team just went all in and acquired Draymond Green for cash and keepers. The team in 11th just offered me to send Anthony Davis and Tyler Johnson For Barnes,Beal, and Russell and $15.... Now part of me would be like take it and go for a title this year, but I also feel like next year i would be competitive.... but the other part is whatever, you can probably cash this year (top 3 in playoffs + top 2 in regular season get paid) and have a good chance to win next year... thoughts??

That and we had a thread before the season where we discussed the merits of taking Davis with one of the picks for a 12-13 wrap around. People were split whether they would take Davis in that spot or not

For comparing to Favors... no one in fantasy really cares about Favors like that, which is why you don't hear about him. If he was a guy getting picked #1, you would hear a lot more people talking about it. Also with AD surpassing ADP... well yes, his stock didn't drop due to talent, it dropped due to injury risk. I doubt there's people who don't recognize his per game talent. We're a third of the way into the season and I'm praying he doesn't get hurt or start sitting out more games, but we can't right now go like "hah look he's the best guy in fantasy!" when his issues are season long injury concerns.

I think this is getting "straw man" treatment. In every league I am in, Davis went for the 3rd highest auction value. If he dropped lower, in most cases, it was because he was in the midst of a specific injury concern that he had going into the season that was still creating uncertainty in early drafts.

Yes, I do get that he gets his share of bumps and bruises and it can be frustrating at times. I still think the hate is a bit ridiculous compared to some other players. Imagine if AD missed 10 games with viral meningitis like Boogie did 2 years ago...we would never hear the end of it. He would be a pussy for getting sick. I don't see many, if any, Derrick Favors is a pussy comments in the basketball and or fantasy basketball world. Dude has been quite brittle (was even listed with Q and or GTD tag for like 3-4 straight weeks last year) but he gets a pass, for whatever reason.

Exactly. I just had Boogie on my mind...literally had someone tell me AD misses more games. Had to drop the facts on them. Basically, AD is a "pussy" and all these other guys who miss just as many or more games aren't...just crazy to me man. Also, not sure how Butler even got the iron man label. Another head scratcher as he hasn't played more than 67 games in 3 years.

Guy gets so much hate compared to some others that miss games. For instance, coming into the year he had played more games than Boogie the last 2 years. I don't see him getting much hate at all, if any for it. DFS hate for AD seems particularly strong...and I do understand he has left his fair share of games due to some injury. That probably has a good bit to do with it. But, it's just a bit baffling how he gets blasted and then we hardly any mention of Boogie and his missed games the last 2 years or so.

Absolutely no excuse not to get AD the ball more when he's being fronted by Dudley/Tucker on the left block with no help. He can't get any easy buckets off the PnR because no respect is given to any of NOLA's guards. He can only shoot so many jumpshots or make running floaters to his left over two defenders. (For whatever reason, he's absurdly good going to his left but just settles for shots on the right) Jrue will do wonders for AD's efficiency when he comes back.

Tap the brakes just a bit (re: AD > Towns). There's a hell of a lot more to a player's value than his single game ceiling. Yes, AD's ceiling is probably #1 in all of fantasy basketball, but his downside is DNP's. Out of nowhere. And he only shot 76% from the line last year. Show me the weakness in Towns' game? Don't misunderstand, I'm all in on AD, have him in every league I could get him, but to simply dismiss Towns as a better option based on the first game of the season is just silly.
